Great review! Probably saved me from putting up my Kraken vx on Reverb. These victory amps just have a texture in the distortion that no other amp has- VHT/EVH like. Definitely will be interesting to layer these tones in, filling in harmonic gaps with that pissed off sounding grind- over the top of an Engl Savage.
This tone sounds very cool to me. I think it's interesting to test different types of amp and sounds. Happy to hear a 7 strings guitar again too :) I just wanted to ask you a question about baritone guitars and low tunings. What do you think about the evertune bridge to eliminate the pitch drift of the low B ? Do you use guitars with a evertune bridge for recording some parts for example ?

This amp at first had a broken speaker sound to me, it sounded off. But, I listened to it a second time and it grew on me.

Correct me if I'm wrong, but don't lots of valve amps start getting a little flubby when the master is cranked that high?
I remember being surprised when I got my boss TAE and had it in my head that I'd be using it to turn all my amps up to 8 or 9, and it turned out that the sweet spot for all of them was somewhere between 4 and 6--which is fine since that's still too loud (without an attenuator) for my place.

I can imagine that it could sound great if you blend this amp with a more scooped beefy amp like a recto or similar. Just love the definition and attack of victory amps 🤌🏻

They make a bigger sheriff with el34s solves some of the low end issues

That pronounced high mid and lack of low end is kinda killin me. But good sounding distortion. Great clean tone as well.

I mean yeah, but the JCM has nearly 4x the output, costs 50% more and has different tubes. They’re fundamentally not the same.
If I wanted a victory amp I’d probably go for a kraken or a copper anyways.

@@azzazelo I think a comparison with the Super Jack would be more appropriate despite that amp having 6L6 valves. Same output and much closer price range.
Not really a big fan of this amp. Some cool sounds though for sure.

I believe this is identifying between when something is bad and when something ‘isn’t your cup of tea’. Would we use a strat with single coils for the most brutal of metal? 99% of the time no, does it make that guitar suck?
I listened back and still feel there’s something cool in the tonality of this amp.
