    They say it is like a license plate on your drone. We already had that with the regisration number we needed to place on the drone. Remote ID is litterally a GPS trracker so the governemnt can see what you do with the drone usually after the fact. Doesn't improve safety it just provides evidence for potential prosecution. Those that willing break the law aren't going to use remote ID anyway.

      Agreed. Restrictions don't hurt bad actors. 🫤

    Small and Light weight is the key. A good remote Id module which Kelly should put on all of his drones so he can find them when he crashes which I believe that he holds the Ready Set Drone Team record for the most amount of crashes. #ItsNotNothing

    Great video. Drone operators are obliged to use a remote ID in the US, right?

      Yes... Unless you're just flying for fun and the drone is less than 250 grams.

      @@readysetdrone I fly for fun, but my drone is over 250g...

      @@readysetdrone As I understand it, this device supports Bluetooth, is there a signal strength standard that it must meet? The ideal "remote ID" should have a range of several meters, after all, the police will check the drone operator anyway, it is enough that the device is working. I think this is a way to protect the pilot's privacy - buy the worst possible "remote ID" XD! 600 feet of range is definitely too much.

    Just hit me, how can the government track it when its effective distance is @ 700 feet? In all actuality what good is it for finding a fly away drone or RC plane?

      It's been described (for better or worse) as license plate for drones. I suppose, if a vehicle drives by, law enforcement could get your plate number and identify the driver. Same with the RID module. They would basically have to be in line of sight range.
      As a location device for the pilot, you'd have to know roughly where the crash happened within 700ft radius.
      In the video, Kris would've had very little luck finding his drone, since Kelly unplugged the battery. We were trying to make lemonade out of the lemons of RID. 😄

      It can be tracked by receiving devices uploading the data. Similar to how networked ADSb receivers track and log movement of manned aircraft. Its only use is for after the fact enforcement action as manned aircraft generally have no equipment to pickup remoteID.

    Can it be used in an RC Crawler Truck/car? Will it work outside US?

    • @readysetdrone
      @readysetdrone  Місяць тому

      You can put it on anything you want to, and yes, it should work outside of the US, but if your main purpose is to locate an RC vehicle, an Apple Air Tag or a Tile Tracker might be better.
