  • The BSD Revolution Planetary Freecoaster, is the hub that feels like a cassette hub, weighs the same as a cassette hub, has a pedal gap like a cassette hub and sounds like a cassette hub. Phu Vu over at (@_epicbmx) dissects the new game changing freecoaster and gives you a breakdown of the anatomy, components, technology, strengths and weaknesses!

    I got my BSD Revolution wheel the other week, and I have to say, the hype is REAL. Only thing more that I would've wanted from it would've been a female axle option, but regardless, it still rendered every other freecoaster almost instantly obsolete.

    • @timcollier5387
      @timcollier5387 3 роки тому +2

      Great post! 👍
      I completely agree with this.
      Doesn't having a female axle work best for riders that slam their wheel in the dropouts so they don't have to break their chain to service the back wheel? (That's a nightmare in itself for some riders)
      Plus having dropouts with a integrated chain tensioner through the dropouts can cause pinching threads on the hub axle itself.
      Ride more, work on your bike less.

    • @Mish2353
      @Mish2353 3 роки тому +1

      It wouldn't work as a female axle because of the amount of pressure the driver needs to actually work like he explained in the video. With females axles there's no way to tighten the outside cone so it simply wouldn't be tight enough for the mechanism to work

    No springs inside the clutch. All just gears... At least that is how the original is. There is actually a rubber o-ring inside the clutch that causes friction when going forward and that is what causes the clutch to engage and raise the driver pawls.

    yeah the guys at bsd put a lot of thinking into this but honestly like 99% of people riding do that backpedal automatically even with a casette if u want a freecoaster just get one, get used to the slack and then u got the same thing and u can play around with the slack while riding which is fun too
    Cool concept but in my opinion a waste of time

    I rather trust the WTP Hybrid coaster than this one. The wtp is way simpler and doesn’t require any gears and fancy mechanisms. It’s a 100 bucks cheaper as well

      it tends to have more slack tho but i understand you completely, they all work basicly the same so why the price difference?

    How is this different than just running low slack in a free coaster?

    • @_tcmore
      @_tcmore 3 роки тому +1

      Because running low slack means pedalling a bit forward will engage the hub.
      This hub basically has unlimited slack when going backwards.
      You can pedal forward while going backwards with this this as long as you don't pedal too fast.
      If you pedal forward faster than the gearing is spinning bringing the pawls down then it will engage.
      It is based off the Freenight Planetary freecoaster and I have been running a prototype for almost two years and it really is game changing.

      @@cameronholcomb6578 it takes a bit getting used to it I found but I can't ride anything else now. Pretty much the faster you go fakie the less you have to worry about it engaging. It's just the initial going forward to fakie that has a possibility of making it engage and that's if you somehow engage the the pawls while going into the fakie which is pretty hard to do.
