Installing Megan Racing Coilovers on my 1990 Mitsubishi Eclipse GSX. More setup, adjusting and customizing suspension videos coming soon!
These are VERY stiff, AMAZING for drag launches but probably too stiff for daily driving I think. If you're daily driving and don't need the camber adjustment, I'd probably go with the Megan Racing EZ Street Coilovers instead of the Street Series, the spring rates on those are much more forgiving.

Huge thanks to Megan Racing for supporting the channel! - Авто та транспорт
Excellent work! I really enjoyed the detail and before and after testing and measurements.
We need more content from you!
AWESOME is all I can say, I had given up on seeing any high quality DSM video's like this.
I instantly subscribed to your channel when I saw that beautiful GSX... My first car back in 08' was a 91' panda GSX, seeing your videos makes me wanna start a GSX project all over again and leave my FiST stock for daily driving!
Awesome attention to detail in the comparisons and testing. It's great seeing your 1g still kicking ass.
Man, Your videos are so good! Nice job. Thanks for sharing.
It was about time you uploaded something, great content man!
I didn't think I was gonna watch the video, and I ended up seeing the whole thing. Great presentation.
i dont drive a dsm but i subbed to your channel because of how entertaining, educational, and detailed these videos are. keep it up!
I have the same coilovers for my 92 I havn't had it on the road yet but I'm super excited to get it done and out on the streets now! Great video!
lovin the dsm videos, keep em coming!
great video i have these on my 1g aswell and have cut multiple 1.4 60's cant wait to see your results at the track.
the car is so clean. absolutely beautiful. keep it up.
Beautiful work
I'm going to get a set for my 1g tsi now thanks to this awesome video!
+Brandon Gallegos Just a word of caution, these are VERY stiff, too stiff for daily driving I think. If you don't need the camber adjustment, I'd probably go with the Megan Racing EZ Street Coilovers instead of the Street Series, the spring rates on those are much more forgiving. I'm going to change the springs on mine to a softer spring rate later this year. They are awesome though, the ability to adjust the height on a whim is great.
Hey thanks for the advice really appreciate you getting back at me. Im looking for coilovers that i can adjust ride hight and camber. Anything better than stock blown suspension is great with me. I do daily drive my car alot n i just hate how it rides!
I had the same issue pulling my talon tsi rears out I was a lil more lucky because I had a ball joint fork to loosen them out with, great work can't wait for updates on the dsm.
+Velocity Labs hey it was awesome that you actually managed it without using one, I guess here you've proven that it can be done without it, likely motivation for the guys that don't have all the oddball tools we dsmers have, but its always good to see other ways to do service on these cars.
Looks Like a great "upcoming" Car channel!! Can't wait to see more. Great job, great attitude! :)
Loving these DSM videos..
I'm surprised at the number of subscribers you have considering how high of a quality video this is! Very nice!
Impressive footage , well explained , 10/10!
love the dsm videos... I'm kinda new to mechanics and I have a 91 eclipse she has a few kinks to work out.. but while I'm replacing I'm gonna be fixing her up.. your videos kinda help give ideas
Yay another video! Congrats on being on roadkill!
nice dsm ,,,, binge watching all ur vids today
my dad use to have one of these when they first came out. Said that it was one of the coolest cars hes owned.
Excellent video
Dude you should have a million subscribers! Your content is amazing!!!
Love the detailed video man your GREAT!!
Great video, very informative!
Outstanding video once again. Very entertaining and very nice touch with the editing. It was finally awesome to see you uploaded a video after my daily search to your channel..LOL
TECH TIP: On those rear shock seized mounting posts, I have had great luck with a two or three arm pulley/gear/steering wheel pullers. It literally pulls them off in seconds! Also anti-seize on the mounting post for future removal and you are golden! Heat works well also as you see though...Great job man! Keep them coming!
+4G63addict Thanks! Yeah, someone else mentioned a pickle fork works well too, which I even have but wasn't smart enough to use XD
Perfect timig, I was going to get full new *stock* suspension, now I want only coilovers :D Great DSM BTW!
Really well put together video very pro. This is everything I experienced on my Integra. I thought my Godspeed coins were too stiff as well even with the softest dampening and only like 6 or 8k spring rates. Coils are just not comfortable but the handling is nice! My stock Talon drove perfect on stock suspension it takes daily driving amazing! That's where I realized I prefer comfort over handling. Just too much beating on the body with coils it's just constantly slamming around. Anyways props for the video and awesome Talon Turbo graphic t-shirt. Matches really well with that gem you got.
Jesus christ you even made a 3d model 3:19
Nice Roadkill shirt! I bet it was a blast driving those Hellcats and Viper.
Love the video edits! So glad you have a dsm! Lol
Another great vid there E, kudos for wearing the Roadkill shirt!
+ttzfer Thanks! :D
That's why I recognize you! Were you part of the Roadkill tryouts? I'm really enjoying your channel! Found you from Eric The Car Guy's Pull-a-part stuff.
great reference vid...looking to install some EZ Streets for my 09 Accord Coupe ^_^
excellent video bro
Great vid, great info
I'm building my 1g Talon AWD with KYB AGX adjustable shocks with almost 2" drop springs, I've got a bad back and was never a fan of coilovers b/c stiffness. If I get a chance I will do a before and after comparison like this! My 92 Laser RS AWD is a squatter with old original suspension haha. Awesome vid, keep up the good work!
Timely advice! My '91 Eclipse GS is long overdue for new struts. I'm not sure if there's any point to adding racing suspension to a non-turbo daily driver, so I haven't decided if I'll try your coilover option or go for something softer. Either way, I'm very grateful for this video, so I just bought a "chill before serving" T-shirt as a thank-you. The detailed instructions should be very helpful when I start the project later this year.
+William Dye Awesome, thanks! Yeah if it's just a daily I would definitely go with a new factory setup. Monroe and other places make Quick-Strut Assembly packages with the strut and spring ready to bolt into the car, that would be the easiest DIY option. Good luck!
Nice video. Yours is the same color mine was, well what it was supposed to be it actually faded so much it was mostly white, but i painted mine a darker shade of blue.
Nice car!
Found your channel through this video and I'm glad I did! We have some common interests.
I have a 2G Eclipse I am trying to restore on my channel. Best of luck with all your projects!
Such an excellent video. The editing, shots, jokes, and you even do the work right. Thanks!
Good luck with the eclipse! :D
Nice video
cool! new video is on point.
Enjoyed ur vid very much !!! 🖒🖒
Thanks!
TURBO BOOST!
hit your stuff with deep creep the night before you work on it .... works
i had 90 gsx in the same color!
great video. liked and subscribed
Yay!!!
We're did you ordered those coilovers from
I think the launch on the stock suspension is very good however when you're trying to push on a turn you're really punching it this car tends to push to the outside of the turn I know from experience I've owned plenty of these cars
Where did you get you rear strut and front strut bar from?
Megan racing EZ coils go 2inch low?
Hey man what blow off valve are you running?
What is your dampening set to ?
Dude love your shirt where did you get it ❓
Can you plz do a video on tuning plz.
Hello, Erik! I saw your topic on the DSMtuners on the front brakes of Outlander. You used Outlander's rotors and calipers, correct? Do they serve without any adjustment? Can the original 1G brake lines be used? Thank you! Congratulations on the excellent channel content !!
You need different brake lines for them, I got mine from roadraceengineering.com/ And thanks! I love your 1G, I follow you on instagram! :D
I have found Outlander calipers the same as the Lancer Sportback Ralliart. They have the same partnumber, MR370775 and MR370776. I'll try to use the original Ralliart brake lines in Eclipse. I also follow you on the instagram! Your car is an inspiration to me! I love the blue color!
Did you level out all the coils to the same height ( when on the car ) so the wheel gaps are all the same height? Or is that an un necessary step?
+TriniRogue I didn't do that yet, I will be adjusting them in a future episode though. I got lucky because they were pretty close, within 10mm or so on each side.
I'm surprised you didn't go with a Bilstein setup considering Dennis Grant raced a DSM beast and posted all of his info on a public website.
How do you like the Megan racing coils?
I like them a lot, they handle great but in my opinion they're too stiff for daily driving on rough roads. I'm going to change to some softer spring rates soon and see how much of a difference that makes. I'll post a video about that when I do!
+Velocity Labs I will be keeping an eye out, I'm leaning towards the Bc racing br coils. Stock 1990 suspension has got to go
Oh what clutch are you running on your gsx?
+isthatkool The Centerforce Dual Friction clutch.
It's really sad to see the aftermarket falling off for the 1g platform.
Do these cool overs work for a 3g eclipse?
Yeah, Megan Racing makes some for 3G Eclipses
www.meganracing.com/product.asp?prodid=85&catid=31
Velocity Labs Sweet. Thanks man
By setting your preload to zero, did you have any bounce in your ride?
Not really, that's how the manual from Megan instructs it. I just upgraded the springs to Eibachs though, they ride MUCH better. I'll be doing a video on that in a bit.
Ok thanks for the insight, I'll be looking forward to your video on the Eibachs.
Ok thanks for the insight, I'll be looking forward to your video on the Eibachs.
when are u gonna upload more of your eclipse :D ?
+Andreas E Every month! Next one is due out in the beginning of March.
+Velocity Labs yes :D i cant wait ur awesome by the way :)
Hahahaha these people probably were like oh your keeping stock height on coil overs down vote.. sheesh. I got eibach pro kit for my 2g, I am afraid the spring rates might be too soft for my liking but I am putting them on koni's so I can adjust the dampers to liking. The use of hey I have this app to test g's also seems fine its calibrated to itself so between old testing and changed it will be applicable to that given device.
subscribe, because eclipse :) I got the GS. The GSX was never sold in Switzerland and the AllWheelDrive GSX is much more expensive in my area. Nice color you have!(Original color?)
roadkill.... approved
What blowoff valve is that????
It's a stock 1g BOV with the dodge mod / garage mod done to it! Holds 30psi no problem :D
8:20 bro lmfao 😂
gOOd JOoB AXL ROSE! JAJAJA
Come to Brazil, i need help whit my GSX - Eclipse 1993 1g :(
How about tuning them u skipped that part
I have same car but red with same coilovers 😏👌
I would get coilovers... but I need to replace my entire driver side strut tower
Pro tip.
Go to dollar store get mirror or two. It'll let you see better.
@9:05 haha.
Instead of grease, anti seize lube is way better
+MrNeuro Funk Good advice! I'll definitely throw some on next time.
+Velocity Labs btw whats the set up on your coilovers?
Many coil overs are dangerous ...bet the car leaves the road on even small slopes & bumps , where the brakes and steering are inop. Coil over type are only recommended for the off road / race track
I wish I lived there. police here would be up my ass for doing stuff like that in a parking lot :(
