I’m inspired about the way you weave the ICF competencies into the conversation, a true tapestry.

I know that some people feel the competencies are limiting, but I see them as an opening to hold the space and that as we learn them, we can make them our own by how we use them to inform our curiosity. :) Thank you for the comment!

Thank you, Lyssa, for this wonderful video. I really appreciate the effort you made to share a lot of useful examples that helped me grasp what it looks and sounds like to be a coach partnering with my client. I'd like to find out more about how coaches can continue to maintain the space for exploration and withold solutions, especially when the client is hoping/expecting to get answers from you along the way even though they know they are not going to get solutions from the coach. If you have any resources on this, I would be glad to explore this further.

This is a great question. How coaches can continue to maintain space for exploration without giving solutions. I am going to noodle over a video on this! Thank you :)

Hi Lyssa, I cannot say it enough: Thank you so much for your effort! I always learn so much from your videos and I always feel so much more confident after watching them.
What I love about this video in particular the most, is that the questions you are asking always go a step further than the first obvious thing.
Already looking forward to your next one ❤

I just took a break from making some notes on this subject and your video popped up! I found this clear, helpful, and inspiring. My struggle with the line between partnership and participation is the fact that my own coach once made a suggestion to me that was valuable and powerful but it was *her* suggestion. This is why I often wonder about the fine line between the two... Thanks again!

Its a bit of a moving target, in the sense that we can offer something, and also be non-attached. It's a powerful thing to work on in our coach development. :) Thank you for the comment!

That is awesome to hear. I do think there is a lot of confusion about the coaching role. It's not therapy or consultation, it's really so much more about empowering people. Thank you for the comment. :)

Dear Lyssa, As ususl , I am really very thankful for this video. Its is so clear and so welll laid out. I am a leadership effectiveness coach and many times I am requested by my coachees to share a framework, a model or a tip/trick that can support them while leading team or navigating organizational dynamics. What is the position that I should take as a Coach when dealing with such coaching sessions?
    Thank you!

+1 to this. I have a lot of leadership experience that seems to attract clients or establish credibility with senior level people but I am often asked similar questions. Would love to hear more on this topic.
