I appreciate you covering our game man, I know we have a long history but I appreciated hearing your thoughts on this. I hope as the project continues to improve more and more people are going to see how worthwhile the effort has been to create a free FPS that everyone in the world can enjoy. Cheers!
@@irishbrigade EAC and other anti-cheat measures are coming in the next few weeks, this is something we expected to be an issue on launch but for a variety of reasons we needed to launch the game first in order to combat the cheating issue properly. There are so many exploits and cheats that we can't possibly predict, so frankly the best way to deal with it is to put out the game... watch how people cheat... and then use that data to patch those exploits and cheats. That's what we're in the process of doing right now. The early road will be rough, but we will be significantly better off having spent this time gathering all this information... which will help us combat cheating even more effectively in the future.
I'm sick of seeing negative comments and discussion on UA-cam of this project, From what I've all seen from the beginnings of this till now I'm blown away with the hard work and detail that has been put into the project, reminds me of a modern take at Battlefield 2 in a way for some reason it takes me back those good days of gaming and Battlefield. Wish I had my PC at the moment because I would 100% be playing this. I also know that this only going to get better and better.
The idea of it being so mod friendly is so fucking awesome. Thats the foundation of all of bethesda games and why theyre so popular. I just hope the game becomes popular enough so that people can take advantage of its modding potential and actually make mods for it. Its a million dollar idea honestly
Modders also created Counter Strike, Team Fortress, Day of Defeat, Garry's Mod, Insurgency, Age of Chivalry (predecessor of Chivalry 2), Natural Selection, The Stanley Parable, and Black Mesa, as well as a ton of other Half-Life 2 mods that were awesome but sadly didn't achieve mainstream appeal, like Dystopia, Neotokyo, Hidden, Orion, and many more. Valve makes great games, but they owe so much of their platform's success to modders.
They are going to have mods that will make this game whatever you want it to be. Destruction, vehicles, helis all coming. Modders already made altis and stratus from Arma 3. This game is going to be a blast
i look forward to seeing this game evolve, but i always thought that the best sandbox milsim game will be a physics game at its core. everything from ballistics to aerodynamics.
7 months later, I just downloaded this with no idea it existed and it's awesome... always wanted to get into milsims but didn't want to spend the money and then not enjoy the genre. I haven't come across any bugs so far 😊 Another huge plus is there's singleplayer modes
This is an early access game in its truest sense. A basic platform to gauge interest, direction and support, then building off of that. Just think of games like Kerbal space program. Having a highly featured game in early access defeats the purpose.
Views need to be verified as legitimate by youtube when they pass a certain number, and if that number is reached fast youtube shows the result of a weird little quirk of its view verification algorithm. And it's not always just 1.
This “game” is the equivalent of stand alone forge in halo. It’s attempting to be like arma/squad/any other sim, but “let’s you customize/mod all you want” meaning it’s just another half baked clunky pile of shit trying to squeeze money out of players. TLDR; unpolished wannabe clone. Not worth the wasted bandwidth. 🤷♂️
I wishlisted this game a month ago or so. Gmod + squad? Sign me up!! The community will definitely create better experiences and with time the devs will make the experience better as well. Better + better will lead to great one day!
The way I look at this game is the Garry's Mod of tactical shooters. It's a platform, the base, unmodded game is limited and not that exciting. The early days of Garry's Mod, which my boomer ass remembers, was also underwhelming. I have a feeling as the modding scene slowly grows momentum, it will hit critical mass and this game will explode.
I agree and disagree with your analysis. I spent a bit of time with it, and I think what a lot of people are missing about the early access at this phase is that it seems to be more about making sure the modding tools are solid. Since they are going for a Gary's Mod type thing, I feel like they put a ton of focus on making great modding tools upfront before expanding the game, and overcomplicating what they would have to build for modding tools from the start. The modding tools themselves seem like they are in a good state, so I would say they are on track.
Its not GMOD like modding, as the GMOD has everything packed inside the game - map editor, lua files. If you want to mod Operation Harsh Doorstop, you need to download additional 60GBs worth of tools to do basically anything. So no, it is not easily accesible for modders.
@@youngarchivist Would you prefer the MOD tools be added to the game download instead? Most people wouldn't especially if it adds 60gb to the download size.
The modding tools appear to be great and will only get better. The netcode also seems to have next to no issues at 64 players which is also awesome. It will evolve into something really special as long as people don't bury it before it gets legs to stand on.
@@Ricolaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaa Shipping modding tools with the game is the common sense development strategy that is standard for games with heavy reliance on community modding skills. Also, it is in a good taste to make dev tools lightweight (CS GO has a map editor that takes up 237KB of space). 60GB is like downloading an entire engine, which I suspect IS the case here. EDIT: Its actually 150 GBS. not 60. WTF?
glad to see bigger creators making a video on this! While this game is in early devellopment as they have time to implement there planned features it will turn in to something great!
I honestly see this as a modern ArmA 3, there is no doubt that when this becomes more polished and user-friendly, more people will come to it and bring their modding capabilities to the community.
I think this game makes for a brilliant 'concept.' Many games in the past have become hotbeds for community-made content, and this looks to take that to a new level. Unfortunately, it also becomes entirely reliant on the community. There is little worthwhile in the game at launch to make me to go it over say, Squad, Hell Let Loose, Insurgency, Rising Storm 2 etc. But as more content gets added, I'll have more and more of a reason
It is also free where the other games come with a price tag. Even though it’ll take some time, with patience, I can see this game really becoming a phenomenal engine for people to build off of and develop different experiences
IMO the early access at this point is more about polishing the modding tools and making sure their base game engine plays nice with them. Since they want to be the Gary's Mod of tactical FPS games, I think that's a good strategy to take. Polish the modding tools before expanding the game to the point where building out good modding tools becomes a daunting challenge.
With it being truly free with no unnecessary in game monetization, I find it hard to argue not putting any time into. Even if you only play a half hour, that's probably worth it if you're not being pushed into spending cash.
What the game has provided is a free and full modding SDK. That is first and foremost, not secondary. This is open source development essentially and was not meant to provide a polished experience. The game is meant to be created with the dev and community fully hand in hand, with the community even being pulled into direct development.
It's not a very good game but from what I've heared it's meant to be more of a hub for mods and mod development than a standalone game and in this regard it's doing very good so far
there is nothing influencer on the game, besides donation to get access to early builds there is no other payment option(maybe patreon), but the rest its absolutely free
Looks so similiar to Squad down to the color/shape of the UI...interesting. I'm all for competition and open access, so if it motivates innovation on either side go for it.
This game, while having improved immensely, is still missing the most important thing; players. Whenever I load into a match it's 5-10 players per team (half of whom are usually too incompetent to do basic things like take objectives) and the rest bots. It's just so soulless and not fluid whatsoever, basically just bots v bots
This game will change the industry if the modding community can come together to build and polish it off. Imo. Look at what the Halo community has done with infinite in such a short time, and that's for a greedy pile of 💩 game. If that energy was put into this project I think it would only take a year to get a game that rivals anything else on the market.
This reminds me of ravenfield with higher-poly models and online servers. The maps look great compared to ravenfield, at least until you download some workshop mods. I still favor ravenfield tho due to the unreal amount of bots you can place, map editors, the blood and gore you can add, thousands of vehicles, if you know blender you can even make destructible environments. If they did what ravenfield has done with its g-mod like freedom. I definitely think this game could really take off and blow all other millsims away. The only issue would be allowing people to select hundreds of bots and mods at once with all the ultra realistic environments. Since ravenfield favors low poly models it feels more like tabs, and I’ve been porting maps from other games to make it feel more like ohd. My pc can handle it but others can’t. So maybe the market for a game like this just hasn’t caught up to the market of pc you would need to run a g-mod milsim game with this much realism while retaining freedom to mod and edit your experience.
The thumbnail makes the graphics look great but then gameplay graphics look bad in my opinion. It just looks like another game that people will play for weeks but don't see how it will keep a large playerbase.
Game sucks and it feels like i am playing watered down call of duty as people are just running & gunning cuz i am doing it and doing well & instead of putting 3 era of warfare just focus on modern warfare like squad did. So much hype and so little delivery and it died faster then even combat masters. OPERATION HARSH DOORKNOB 😂
That's cool but, milsim shooters already have no players. Star wars mod for squad is fun but no one plays it, modding and more importantly making the AI really good definitely the key here F2p actually a good idea though, get a lot more players which is a big problem in this genre
That if you confess with your mouth, "Jesus is Lord," and believe in your heart that God raised him from the dead, you will be saved. Romans 10 1 John 1 If we claim to be without sin, we deceive ourselves and the truth is not in us. 9 If we confess our sins, he is faithful and just and will forgive us our sins and purify us from all unrighteousness. 10 If we claim we have not sinned, we make him out to be a liar and his word is not in us. Jesus answered, John 14:6 “I am the way and the truth and the life. No one comes to the Father except through me. For God so loved the world that he gave his one and only Son, that whoever believes in him shall not perish but have eternal life. John 3:16 The rapture is imminent!
People forgot the difference between, early access/alpha, the beta, and full release. Most games now go into alpha as a blanket for bugs and untested mechanics, where as that should be your beta, alpha should be early versions of the game where things are still in limbo. But we get games like sons of the forest in early access and it makes it seem like that’s how all early access games are.
Squad is Squad. Post Scriptum is Post Scriptum. HLL is HLL. It's more refreshing to have a stand alone game with its own flavor than a copy/past game with its own small twists and edits OG Day of Defeat mods were some of the most entertaining maps and game modes I've ever played. It's about content and not fluff and in the now content
Thankfully it supports mods that can change things, someone even added a COD style zombies mod. Which given enough time... Could happen. Plus with how Activision has been doing poorly as of late, people who modded THAT game could end up moving their mods to O:HD. Especially for mods that Activision sent Cease & Desist to. *If activision won't show pride to their fans, then they can move elsewhere*
they arent too focused on that as its still early in development and if the game is good people will make videos on it and play. plus some people in the community are making videos about it
no it doesn't, it needs modders and development time. The purpose of this launch is not to gain a playerbase, it's to gain a modderbase and make it more accessible. Also, the real reason they launched is to be able to use the steam workshop which is not available for non published games.
Also, there is no reason to advertise, it doesn't make any money and more players wouldn't really change anything except for giving more people non ideal first impressions.
I think it is a mistake trying to develop a Milsim game. This game looks boring. Better going for a boarder audience like a more arcade sandboxed shooter. Look at the data, bfv is still extremely popular is Asia, bf1 is still played. The devs of this game could easily fill this void left by dice as EA wouldn’t be going back to historical battles any time soon! Maybe create a fast pace conquest like mod and check the response on the audience.
Would be interesting if someone managed to create a "Mugen", but for FPS games. For those that don't know - Mugen is basically a blank-slate engine for fighting games - which you can customize to your liking and create content. Want to see Akuma fight against Raiden? Well yeah - you can achieve that there.
Really excited with this project. But for me the base game needs a lot of work, if it doesn't look and run better than other games of the same genre, Im probably not going to play it, even if I can find good mods. The Starship troopers mod didn't feel good to play imo. There's too many low quality/ beta/ early access gaming experiences kicking around. I'd really like a high quality product that can utilise today's technology.
This game has huge potential and it's free so there's no real risk. I think in a few years this will be a decent competitor to many shooter. You can basically make any "realistic" FPS games within this one
I appreciate you covering our game man, I know we have a long history but I appreciated hearing your thoughts on this. Especially for mods that Activision sent Cease & Desist to. *If activision won't show pride to their fans, then they can move elsewhere*
Plz add cars USA plz
Being able to play against bots is nice for those of us with bad internet, and who dont like playing against real people.
This game needs to have more advertisement. It wont get above 2k players
they arent too focused on that as its still early in development and if the game is good people will make videos on it and play. plus some people in the community are making videos about it
no it doesn't, it needs modders and development time.
Honestly a great game I’ve been enjoying it a lot but idk high ping on a lot of servers
this is a indie project that is still in the works and is better functioning that many AAA titles on Day 1
I just recorded this game. :D Good game, okay game . Cool :D
another fucking fps....... can someone out there please make another 3rd person shooter similar to socom 2 please.
This game is really good though. I enjoy playing it.
opreation harsh doorstop is too hard the single player is an constent loop spawn die respawn fix the singleplayer
You "semi-auto" M24 seems not to be fully semi-auto... :-D
What if the game developer becomes a youtuber..
This game has huge potential and it's free so there's no real risk. I think in a few years this will be a decent competitor to many shooter. You can basically make any "realistic" FPS games within this one
My Chinese made Huawei laptop can’t handle shit😂
