Garlic confit freezes beautifully. I freeze it with some of the oil in a freezer bag. If it's laid flat while freezing, it can be broken off in chunks as needed. No need to thaw the whole bag.
I made garlic confit literally the day before this video was published :D I used the olive oil... about an hour in slow cooker. It's not as carmelized but the olive oil is still very tasty and usable. There aren't any bitter notes that I could taste. Next time, I'll try your method :)
Nah. High Quality isn't high quality when looking after that. You can use processed olive oil with less solids. Just don't use your good and expensive extra virgin oil with so much more stuff in it that you don't want to overheat.
Probably just a slip of the tongue, but you said you used 2 1/2 cloves to make this. Looks like you used 2 1/2 bulbs, not cloves. Cloves are the little guys. :) Looks delicious! I used the "sauce pan on the stove top" version of your roasting method(with avocado oil) and got the same results. Either way, this is an excellent way to eat garlic. Love the "to the point" simplicity of your video!
I was looking for this recipe and all of them seemed long thus complicated or with lots of useless information. From the first 30 seconds I hit the subscription button without a single doubt. I like the way you describe everything you do, your voice and lack of overemotional tone are awesome. Thank you so much, I'm going to make this garlic whole watch other your videos, can't stop anymore 🖤
SOO glad UA-cam started recommending your videos to me! Excellent video production, culinary knowledge, style, everything! I'm definitely subbed and looking forward to more!
Yes, yes, yes, thank you so much for this easy peasy recipe. I think coconut oil has a high heat level. I have olive oil but I don't like the flavor for this recipe. Not complicated. I'll tell my son too, he likes garlic. This is a recipe a young man can make too, Lol! He can surprise his fiancee for dinner. 😊. I'm going to subscribe to your food channel. 👌👍
Smoke point for butter is about 350 degrees F, probably too low. Have you considered making and using Ghee/Clarified Butter? The smoke point for Ghee or Clarified Butter is somewhere between 450 to 480 degrees F. It might be cheaper and easier to use something like Avocado oil. That is what I use for this and it's smoke point is above 500 degrees F. It is a very mild to neutral flavored oil as well.
Hi there, love your channel. I'm a recent subscriber and I'm wondering if you can help me. I've tried this recipe today and I noticed that when I try to spread/mash the garlic it wont, because the outer layer of the clove has a very sticky firmness to it, it has the consistency of caramel that has gone too far, sticks to the knife and to my teeth. I put a thermometer in my oven to be sure and it is 120 celcius and it is, had it in for 2 hours. Thanks.
There's no such word as "pre-heat". It makes no sense at all. Just say, "Pop it in an oven that's heated to 250 degrees..." or "Heat the oven to 350 degrees". Please, stop using "pre-heat", because it literally makes no sense.
"You spend all day on the phone anyhow!"

AYO listen up! This is the best Garlic Confit recipe on youtube. Don't even waste your time watching other videos!

I blend them into salted butter then reform it all into a butter stick shape put em in the fridge for later
That's call compound butter. You should try adding you favorite herbs to it also. Like rosemary, thyme, or parsley for example.
I did the same and gifted them to friends at Christmas all were very pleased
My daughter does the same thing.. it's so delicious.. 😊
I just spread butter on my toast and smash the garlic on top
mine is currently in the oven and im gonna have a toast with it to break my fast today. Ramadan Mubarak 🌙 thank you so much for this recipe
What is a ramadan? Not sure if I want to try that recipe
@AbCd-lw5vs you live under a rock ? How do you not know Ramadan
I always have this on hand. I use it to make garlic confit mayo. I also add thyme and peppercorns to my confit.

That's because they're just as much amateurs as us. They just don't like olive oil. Wish she'd just say that...
On high or low setting?
little side note: high quality olive oil has a smoke point of roughly 410 degrees Fahrenheit so it won't be a problem to use olive oil for this!

From a glance on thumbnail i thought "Garlic Conflict" is written. i was really intrigued what conflict is with Garlic 😂😂😂
You can also use avocado oil or high oleic acid sunflower oil if you don't mind some seed oil...

J adore vos video

❤
Wow…I was looking for something like this😋😋😋 I wonder if butter can be used, thank you for sharing🤩
No butter had a low smoking point meaning it will burn
What about mainly oil with a little butter added??

Thanks Chef!
I got sidetracked doing garlic confit with time-consuming stove top methods, coming back to this way.
Deuce Bigelow likes this channel.
Can the oil be saved/re-used for another batch?
What song is this? Great kitchen/cooking smooth jazz fusion sound…

The hard base that you cut off is called; “the basal plate.”
When I make this it seems to end up being really hard. Am I maybe over cooking the garlic? Should I lower the temp?
(Cooked at 250 for 2 hours)
can i use vco oil for that?
What’s a good temperature to bake it at
can I use the air fryer instead of oven??
🔥
Can we use coconut oil?
Awww finally....
after its been in the fridge can you just reheat it in the microwave? or do you have to do something else? or do you not need to?
You dont need to reheat
I bet it would be really healthy with avocado oil.
How does it taste?
Thank you fir not making this a 10 minute video
Can i use avocado oil??
Please answer, Thank you👏👏👏
yes, in fact any cooking oil, even olive oil is fine. The temp of the oven is nowhere near either oil's smoking point so it really doesn't matter.
What the little dish you bake it in?
it's a loaf pan
I can't get garlic. What can I use as a substitute? 😏
Ahahahahaha corn syrup? 🥲
It is literally roasted garlic😅
Weed
Can i used vegetable oil.. I cant afford olive oil
Rewatch the video; she didn’t recommend olive oil due to the bitterness. Try Avocado oil.
Mmmm,
it can last without refrigeration for 1-2 years
Would coconut oil be good for this?
Definitely not. You want a neutral tasting oil. Canola or Olive oil will work best, probably even avocado.
@@teeznigan337 extra virgin or the regular olive oil?
@@alejandrobuenokumayog4912 extra virgin olive oil
You're using two and a half bulbs, not cloves
I did this and didn't cover it. Garlic burned. =( Can you put the instructions in the description?
Just 2 weeks? =/
lasts only two weeks? i thought confit garlic lasted for ages tbh
Wow I like your voice
Good recipe!
If you cut the cloves half and take out the germ, it is going to be less harmful to the stomach!
2 and a half heads???? not cloves. That would be so extra making 2 and a half cloves for one serving of toast. 😂
Great video without the waffle
2 and a half heads. Not cloves
no aluminum pls pls pls
That wasn't two and a half cloves, that was two and a half bulbs. Unless that's another word lost in translation across the Atlantic?
i like how zero effort this recipe is
Why did my turn into chips😭
This Confit garlic is overcooked
Okay chef lmaooo
Peanut or canola oil? Gross! Why!? Bad idea. Very unhealthy.

Disgusting. SO much Garlic EWWWW
Lol I mean it's kind of the point
You're cooking garlic as the main ingredient
Canola oil …… seriously ? 😮
Keep it simple, stupid =KISS
