Getting your package out, would seem to me you are enjoying the new engagement! Love the great taste of roasted garlic, it can compliment many a dish! Thanks chef...
Leaving it whole and then cutting it in half shows two halves, each ready to scoop out! Better than cutting some of the top, wasting the ends, and having deep pockets to scoop out that might leave too much unused garlic. Thank you! I like the one bulb roasted and then cut in half. Perfecto!
Exactly right! I can’t stand seeing people slice off the tops or bottoms. Such a waste. It will also steam and roast at the same time this way resulting In a lot better flavour
Wow! I didn't expect those roasted garlic to be so soft that you could easily spread it on the bread! I could almost smell those garlic! Delicious! My son always has a jar of peeled garlic drowned in olive oil. Everytime we eat, he puts a clove or two to each of our plates. I'm gonna go tell my son your way of preparing delicious roasted garlic! Thanks a lot, Chef Jack! Stay safe!
I love roasted garlic. I put a whole bulb in for each person for a roast lamb or beef dinner. I always make garlic potato mash by mashing a bulb of roasted garlic. Thanks Jack for this video loved it!
This looks fantastic! I have never seen a video where they dont chop off the top, and it always made me feel bad because I would end up losing my precious garlic lol. I'll definitely have to try this ps - such a satisfying garlic squeeze hahaha
That's the way I roast garlic as well, but I do one more thing - after roasting, then I dehydrate it and grind to make roasted garlic powder or chunks. Delicious for adding to recipes, and keeps well in the pantry.
I’m Making my first compound butter this upcoming weekend with parsley, time, rosemary, lime zest, roasted garlic, bone marrow, lean bacon fat,and aged egg yolk with secret salt blend …good amount of work going in to but I got a ribeye comp with my buddy coming and I think it’s gonna be a winner
I'm in Victoria, Australia and I just watched this video and am about to follow your direction to roast some bulbs of recently harvested home grown garlic! Yum! Thanks for the great video. Love hearing a non-American accent on UA-cam 😆😉😁
A great way to save money and energy is to grill out during the summer. Grilling out isn't just a fun seasonal activity-it's also highly practical to help you decrease your energy consumption over the summer and lower your monthly utility bills. This is true whether you're using gas or charcoal.
Hey Robert!! For 1 bulb of garlic, allow 150g of butter to come to room temperature then fold the garlic through. You could also go one step further and whip the garlic and butter together with a whisk, stand mixer or hand mixer for a couple of minutes to make it super aerated and fluffy. 😊😊
If you don’t want to slice it after cooking, you can slice off the top before cooking. That way, when you go to squeeze it out, you don’t need to cut anything
caught up a bit late used to slicing off the top oilive oil aliumium foil ususally when roasting something else e.g. sweet potatoes timing of the essence. If I have herbs I add some olive oil yes I usually do as needed didn't know you could freeze this stuff so many thanks. My Dad came from a southern european country this was everywhere .... in our case also tons of raw garlic just share a meal with someone no-one will care :)
That sounds very strange and to be honest I’ve never seen or heard about it. Unless it was a flavoured dye then I’d have no explanation as to why someone would do that. Very strange...
I really like your content, but I wantend to ask: what is with the 'save for stock'? Why all this saving (roots, seeds, leafes, etc)? Are you harvesting them in your home? Re-using them or what?
The Way I make roasted, I mean smoked, is cut the top off, , cut tin foil 6 inch sheets, then cut them into 6 x 6 sheets. Wrap each bunch in the foil, form a cup with the foil. Drizzle Olive Oil over each, then smoke a 325 Degrees, I use a mix of Apple and Hickory woods. And I have Requests for this every year.
No joke looking at this and thinking about eating roasted garlic suddenly gave me the strength to keep living.

You do the best roast garlic without cutting portion of it and wasting it.
Your way makes more sense than the rest
Thank you
Thank you 🙏 I’m not entirely sure as to why other cut it honestly, there’s no need
I enjoyed the recipe, the talk, the tone of your voice and the respect you show for your listeners.

Garlic stored in oil can develop claustridium botulinum, which causes botulism, often fatal
When you broke out the bread I said "A man after my own heart". Loved it! Stay safe young man.

ps - such a satisfying garlic squeeze hahaha
Yeah I don’t understand that method! Please enjoy Joseph 😊
Exactly! It's a waste to cut off the top, because most that do that probably throw it away.

Cool toaster action. 😁

Awesome video editing!
Thank you so much and I’m glad you appreciate it, I tried a couple of new techniques on this one 😊
Do we keep in fridge with skin or without?
Either or. I keep it whole with the skin on in the fridge then squeeze it when I need it
I saw people mixing this with softened butter. How long will it last if I mix it with butter?
It will still last the four days at full flavour. It will last up to 2 weeks but the flavour will deteriorate very quickly.
@@ChefJackOvens Oh, got it. Thanks so much!
Does this retain the sharpness of raw garlic compared with garlic confit (that I prepared recently but was surprisingly bland)?
No sharpness with this one. You can eat this on its own it’s that good
Hi Chef, was your oven set to heat from the top and bottom or just heat from the top? Also was the fan switched on? thanks
Thank you
4:02 very nice cut 👍
Thank you! Glad you liked it 😊
Jeah Jack broooooo lets go champ! Garlic always basic!
Definitely Adam!!
U can also mash the garlic clothes with some mayonnaise and but for for of a spread...not as strong too
It's so hard to slice through the middle after cooking. Any tips?
If you don’t want to slice it after cooking, you can slice off the top before cooking. That way, when you go to squeeze it out, you don’t need to cut anything
Can you use an air fryer
Looks easy. Thanks Chef!
It really is. You’re very welcome Karla 😊
I already know all of this, but it's just so satisfying watching again.
Why do you need oil at all if the whole bulb is wrapped in foil, essentially steaming.?
caught up a bit late used to slicing off the top oilive oil aliumium foil ususally when roasting something else e.g. sweet potatoes timing of the essence. That is bold of you assuming that they are not gone within an hour. but thanks for the tip on storage anyways. Thanks chef!
Haha. It’s easy to eat it all very quickly 😉
when I was in Moscow the deli was selling garlic bulbs that were dyed red yellow and green. what was that all about?
That sounds very strange and to be honest I’ve never seen or heard about it. Unless it was a flavoured dye then I’d have no explanation as to why someone would do that. Very strange...
The first time I had roasted garlic my friend put it on the bbq, while cooking our food. It was around 1994.
Woah
Awesome!!!
Awesome..
You know it!!👌
I just eat the garlic fresh out of the oven. So delicious
So good!
Can’t believe yall are still together after this blowout fight
What are you talking about?
Hey, Chef looks good as always :D . One question would this work on a grill or is a grill too hot?
Hey Envi, this will work on the grill but you’d have to cut it in half before you grill it. You will also need to have a very low heat too. 😊
I will try it this way. My grandma always had some roasted garlic around. I rather lose a friend than gave up garlic. I probably smell like it.
Tin foil for your British friends........definitely going to try the whole bulb method, last time I roasted the cloves, I burnt them 😬 x
How could I forget haha. The whole bulb method is a lot easier than having to seperate all the cloves.
Yum
Great video, just some advice: maybe back off just a little bit for the close-up (profile) shots
Thanks for the tip!
I Once put Two Bread Slices like that, That All Ready Had Garlic Butter on Them in The Toaster... Big Mistake! 😐😑
Hope you didn’t blow up your toaster!!
Y'all really need to check out gordok ramseys green bean salad where he used one of those whole garlic bulbs🙂 its really good😋
Which is better?
I really like your content, but I wantend to ask: what is with the 'save for stock'? Why all this saving (roots, seeds, leafes, etc)? Are you harvesting them in your home? Re-using them or what?
Stock is really good for soups and for marinating meats
