So ATL will take 2 depth pieces that have been great in the rotation(on/off the bench) and bring in MPJ who will take up their rookie's position, at the 3, and slow down his development? They've been having success and fun to watch games with Trae, Dyson, Zachary, Jalen and Clint... Just seems weird that they'd wanna reduce their depth and bring in MPJ to take that starting 3. That then becomes 2 guys who have defensive liability issues.
From the Nuggets side, it makes a ton of sense. From the Hawks side, they don’t have a lot of incentives to push for a trade mid-season especially one with the Nuggets. Hawks is playing well right now and their chemistry is on point with Hunter coming off the bench for them being that 6th man for them alongside Bogdanovic. They got a lot of depth and versatility. Not to mention, Bogdanovic is actually on a great value contract rn with 2026 being a team option. I actually don’t mind trading for Larry Nance or Onyeka Okongwu instead of Bogdanovic. We desperately need a backup big. Doing this trade would kill 2 birds with 1 stone. As much as I like the trade package tho, it probably would only happen if Hawks is trying to consolidate the players they have and shorten their rotation. And if Trae Young demands he wants to play with MPJ over other players available for trade.
I think the best scenario is Cam Johnson and Finney-Smith, that move imporve their benh by getting 2 players in 1 salary in MPJ. They can evne trade for Clarkson in the Zeke contract
@@WrongButtonWB Valanciunas is perfect for 2nd big in Denver. He is 13p/10r on 23min/game guy on 57% shooting , strong and defence minded. To anchor 2nd unit with Russ on playmaking, it’s great deal.

Panic time, hopefully they don't panic, and make horrible decisions. 15 games in, multiple injuries, team cohesiveness is coming along. What you on about? Do you watch the games? Russ has actually fit in better than anyone thought. He's doing everything. And making great defensive plays every game. Game winning defensive plays. The bench needs work and Jamal needs to find his rhythm which he seems to have done these past 2 games
Classic Calvin Booth to leak the names of 5 or 6 guys he's interested in trading for and thus lowering his bargaining leverage, letting MPJ know he's available, possibly hurting team chemistry... This dude is completely over his head as a GM
This is really dumb. Denver literally could not match the deal Bruce got. KCP is absolutely not worth what the Magic gave him, and CB has been better than expected.
Just because they couldn’t keep those guys doesn’t mean they’ve done a good job. It’s unbelievable that a top tier contender couldn’t sign a couple role players or at least package some stuff together for a real second star. Murray would be a great 6th man/ 3rd option. But he’s not the second best player on a championship team unless the first option is Nikola Jokic.
Some times it appears that Nuggets players "forget" how to play when Jokic is off the floor. Nuggets are great with Jokic and terrible when he is off. They need production when Jokic is resting, they need to be at least decent without Jokic. So, they need someone not addicted to play with Jokic.
Nuggets were never great with Jok, it's just that he is so good that it appears so (none of the starters can't create an open shot for himself, nor do they spread the defence, which proves the point that they aren't really a threat without Jok on the floor). All of his teammates are mid, when playing at their best and that's a shitty way to ruin the prime years of one of the greatest to ever play the game. They need depth, not some washed out, 35+ year old players to further add salt to the injury. Cam Johnson's of the world, Bogdan Bogdanovic and similar type of players is what we need.
Mpj is literally a unicorn. These are dumb trade rumors. I’m not saying mpj and Jamal are awesome and can’t improve but these aren’t great improvements. I like the idea of adding a Jordon Clarkson off the bench but we aren’t getting that.
Dumb small contracts and get Micic from Charolette Hornets. Dude has chemistry with Jokic and has tanked his value because he is unmotivated not being on a contender
Why would you trade an integral part of your family for any player who "might" help your team? I hope they don't change anything. Denver has great chemistry. There are teams around the league who try to trade for a good team. Clips, Nets, Bucks, 76ers, etc. The Nuggets were built over years with much patience. The bench, the 3's, the defense......I heard it all for years. And they proved people wrong again and again. I trust this organization, from the owners down to the players. They know what they are doing.
I suppose. The Bucks have won exactly as much as the Nuggets have. And I'm fairly confident had the Clips or Nets been lucky enough to draft a Jokic they also would have won. 76ers are fully cursed.
Unless Denver gets a big upgrade defensively and on the glass it becomes really hard to argue that trading away MPJ makes them any 'better' as a team. Contracts and moneywise... I don't have enough details to judge whether there is something there that makes a trade for Zach Levine make any sense. None of the people mentioned really look like a big upgrade 'quality' wise as a player and certainly adding an unknown when MPJ has great chemistry with the current Nuggets roster and rotations.
I’ll say this like I have been all year. Their offense is only good with Jokic. Although they need defense they also need offensive creators when Jokic is benched or out for a game(s)!
Agree with a lot of ppl. Trade to nets or hawks makes much more sense. B.I could carry the offense a bit when jokic is on the bench but I don’t like that fit either.
Denver would consign itself to an early round playoff exit for years if they make any trade involving their starters. I hope the Nugget players are ignoring this talk. Commentators need to have something to talk about, so they talk about fantasy trades. The Nuggets have won three straight, are the fifth seed, and have beaten many quality teams. They need to up their defensive consistency, which they can do. This trade talk is click-bait, and nothing more.
Some of these moves might improve the Nuggets this year, only because the depth is so bad this year. But none of them actually make the team a title favorite. Fire Booth, stand part for this year, take your lumps. Trade Saric and Nnaji in the off season when they are both expiring and can actually get moved. Hope that Holmes pans out, and use the freed up cap room to sign another capable wing and big in the person. If Murray finally gets over the injuries that have been limiting him since February (still can't believe he played in the Olympics) then that team can win the 2026 title. 2025 title is gone. Chasing it won't amount to anything.
A legitimate backup center would add way more than Ingram, Lavine, or a combination of Cam and DFS. Make it happen without breaking up the starting five.

2:35 MPJ has not been good in big moments, in the finals run, and other playoff runs, his numbers across the board have regressed, cause he's so 1-dimensional as a scorer. Zach Lavine would bring other elements to the offense, and lift the non-jokic minutes, which are crucial in the playoffs, considering how vast the drop-off is. Also, you may have to start Watson at SF and move Lavine to SG, to have the adequate length, which the concern would be if Watson can limit his defensive mistakes
No need for a position switch, you just play Markkanen as a very long small forward. Leave AG at PF where he excels. The problem for Denver is they don't have the cache of 1st rd picks to get Markkanen, MPJ would not be enough to get the deal done. I like the idea of Markkanen though!
