@@platos8397 Well, those two synths are the blue print for ALL of the monster hits of the 80s decade and beyond. The warmth of those two synths, especially for bass synth. I haven't actively produced music since the early 90s, but in the studio back then we had a lot of keyboards, most notably DX-7IIFD w/grey matter response, Emulator II+, Minimoog Model D, Roland D-550, Korg M1, Roland MKS-80 Super Jupiter w/programmer. But the DX-7 probably was more of our go-to for live set instrumentation (specifically for bass synth) and its versatility across a range of instruments. It was usually somewhere in the conversation when we were writing songs. But since we were doing the RB/Funk thing, Minimoog (in the studio) was usually the weapon I would use faithfully for bass. Truly good days back then. Again, really enjoyed your work on that K&G cover.
@guappanlucido7248 Thank you for your kind comments and your background during your producing years. Never, in my lifetime will I ever reach your calibre. I've mastered the Juno 60 but struggle with other synths, with 2 or more oscillators.
I love your take on that song, but... That famous DX7 E.BASS 1 sounds quite muffled here, compared to the original. As if keys were pressed softly on a real DX7. From what I'm aware of, Arturia's version of the DX7 has two settings of keyboard velocity range - DX7 and FULL. If you set it to "DX7" mode, it could in fact emulate the original DX7 velocity range of 0-100, and not the standard 0-127, resulting in softer notes depending of the hardware you used to enter the notes. Might be the culprint here?

The original drum machine is a DMX. You can emulate it perfectly with AlyJames Lab VProm VST and the free additional DMX EPROM dump file.

It certainly was. I own a Yamaha DX7 and a Roland Juno 60. I bought these to learn how to play. I'm always off key, hence using FL Studio.
