It was Os Guinness's book on comparative philosophy (The Dust of Death) that set me on the straight path. A big thanks for that.

If we decide that freedom and respect for another's opinions are confined to the judeo-christian sphere, and don't look deeper, we accept religious war as an inevitability. We must do something to make accepting another's right to have a different opinion universal because that is the bedrock upon which freedom and democracy rest.

Religion views in the public square are fine as long as we never get to a situation where there are different laws or a law were to be applied differently to people of a certain religion.

Personaly I believe strongly in individual respondsability it's what brings you freedom. But I also believe the USA is the only free country in the world everywhere else your allowed freedom. Even though individualy in the U.S. some people fall short.

Thanks, Os, for painting the USA with a Buick-sized brush regarding Abu Ghraib and addiction. Without the USA, there would be no freedom in the world on land, air or at sea so you couldn't travel Down Under to meet with the wonderful John Anderson.
    "My American friends" indeed!
Sorry, John, but this guest was an insult early on in the discussion so I tuned out from America. A bit too high and mighty and pedantic.
But I do share your concerns.

You reacted without listening. Ideology is a bitch isn't it?

Hilariously ironic that someone was offended and rejected the opportunity for growth that was on offer.

You do know Os Guinness lives in America right? He loves America but isn’t afraid to give criticism where due. Maybe you should watch to the whole video before dismissing it simply because you don’t like what he says.
