Dude was so humble. Litetally chose a song that talked about her to throw the spotlight back on her. Very professional and a good friend move.
Hm... Interesting perspective saying the song was about her, I mean I guess it could be, but I doubt it. Sounds like a breakup song to me. Either way, I agree he was humble, professionaal and a good friend. He was so good though it makes me wonder if the whole thing was staged.

That Sam guy looked he is so passionate, loves music, he loves what he does. It's not about "yea you can sing" its about the feeling, the atmosphere, the presence you give to your audience. He gave that spark, congrats dude.

@@JaimeUrrea-ed4kpYes but you don't want it to *sound* rehearsed. That's the musical equipment of sounding like you're reading something from a script while acting, or from a teleprompter while giving a speech. It's technically correct but lacks emotion.

"sounding rehearsed" isn't the right word, because if you've rehearsed properly you're supposed to sound natural. The right thing to say is that she wasn't as connected with her feelings and her body, when she sang. And when he sang, you can clearly tell the difference. He sang from his heart, she sang from her brain.
Wow he not only has talent but seems like a beautiful human being... So incredibly light, selfless and full of joy and love. How refreshing.

The guy isn't the best singer in the world but you could hear him singing his heart out, whereas the girl needs to find her heart back.

For all the people saying "oh shes pissed!" Get your emotions right... She isnt pissed, she is happy for Sam because she knows he is crazy talented and she supports him like a real friend. What she is feeling is questioning herself. She knows she isnt giving it her all but she is scared and maybe doesnt fully believe in herself. Hopefully being around Sam more and watching him explode will inspire her to unleash herself because she clearly has great talent as well. 🙌

Sam lives and breathes passion for music and life, it's amazing to watch and inspiring too. That kind of energy with singing, guitar and piano I aim for too!
He's very good I can see him getting a contract I'm sure he'll take her & his band with him so good luck to the whole band in the future.

She's so good, she just cut her note short. She doesn't have confidence in her big notes, but they're there. I can tell. I wish they would have done a whole duet together. I think they would have sounded amazing together

I get what Katy is saying that song is a lot of emotion in it and she could’ve pushed that into her voice more and it would’ve been stellar. Sam singing that original song you can feel it in your bones.
You can also feel that his voice was all over the place.
I think she was playing it safe. There’s people that audition that exaggerate the emotion or hold a note for too long and get marked for it. It’s better to show that you have potential and can take direction.
He has so much more feeling in his vocals, than her. Definitely the better and more unique singer, of them both.
Tears to my eyes- really! Beautiful generosity and curiosity of the judges to invite him to sing/play. He definitely has the "chops". What a great story of talent and gift coming alive at the most unexpected moment. Kudos to the judges for "going there" to even ask him to play for them. Awesome!

I haven't watched Idol in forever but after seeing this suddenly pop up and watching this, I think Sam's gonna go far, or at least his band is going to get noticed. He really went for it. You can tell he's already a performer. He seems very humble as well. So not only good with the talent, but good with the personality. I have a feeling whether he wins, or loses, he's definitely going to be a fan favorite.

@@Sphynx00 I hear you and can see a little bit of that after rewatching it again. I'm sure it was a bit painful in the end after he sung. But prior to getting that reception she was hyping him up and was genuinely excited to talk about how talented her friend was. In the end, I think this will help them both grow as artists and be both eachothers biggest cheer leader, and rival. I really hope that no matter the outcome, they remain friends after this. They sound great together
@@Sphynx00 Having a little sadness that someone takes your spotlight is fine, not like she expressed it or acted on it. Emotions sometimes cannot be controlled especially the subtle ones. She was still happy for her friend, thats all that matters and there is no need to find drama where there is none.

😂 The fact that Sam was like, "Gosh! That was so fun, guys!" not even thinking anything was going to come of that. Wow. I enjoyed both of them, though his felt more raw and heartfelt.
They both were very incredible and I could tell Sam was really into the song that was for his band, and I am very glad that they have him as a contestant. I could feel the song in the music that he was singing and playing. That was very beautiful.

Of course. Like how there just happened to be a vocal mic ready to go by the piano, which wasn't just a synth on a stand but a synth put in a fancy fake piano enclosure to make it look more impressive.
The fact that the girl knew to keep her song really short so they had time to fit the guy in to the time slot.
