Prince was so far detached from the PR era, and during this tour even said something along the lines of 'if you came to get your Purple Rain on... leave' or some3thing like that. ANyway. He also changed lyrics, which he had every right to 'open up your bible'. It was to me a Funk Preacher tour, preaching alot. I remember the audience in Nokia ONA almost booed Prince's President Lincoln song-preach, it was like ohuh... Prince touched a nerve and the audience bit back!
I can see why he was TIRED of playing Purple Rain because he played 100 shows straight of the Purple Rain album in the setlist with the Revolution every single night from 84'-85' and you can't blame him for moving onto Around the world in a day because 100 shows straight of the same album setlist would drive anyone crazy, let alone have a nervous breakdown.
