- Turn Up The Radio(Raw Demo Version) by Autograph
From the album "Missing Pieces" (1997)
This is a demo of their hit song recorded in 1984 before their debut album, and released 13 years later.
Lyrics:
Ooh, yeah!
Turn it up!
Come on!
Ooh!
I'm working hard, you're working too
We do it every day
For every minute I have to work
I need a minute of play
Day in day out all week long
Things go better with rock
The only time I turn it down
Is when I'm sleepin it off
Turn up the radio
I need the music, gimmie some more
Turn up the tape machine
I wanna feel it and you know what I mean
Now listen!
I wanna shake, I wanna dance
So count it off a'one, two, three
I hear the beat, I'm in a trance
No better place to be
Daytime, nightime, anytime, Ooh!
Things go better with rock
I'm going twenty four hours a day
I can't seem to stop
Turn up the radio
I need the music, gimmie some more
Turn up the tape machine
I wanna feel it and you know what I mean
Turn up the radio
I need the music, gimmie some more
Turn up the tape machine
I wanna feel it and you know what I mean
Yeah!
Ooh!
Oh, turn it up!
Come on!
Turn up the radio
I need the music, gimmie some more
Turn up the tape machine
I wanna feel it and you know what I mean
Turn up the radio
I need the music, gimmie some more
Turn up the tape machine
I wanna feel it and you know what I mean
Turn up the radio
Turn up the radio
Turn that thing up!
Turn up the tape machine! LOL wow that is too funny... I don't ever recall calling it a "tape machine".. everyone I knew called it a tape player. Anyway it was fun hearing this - the production of the later recording was miles ahead. The guitar solo was pretty much note-for-note the same :)
God ive not heard this in 20 years - talk about takin you back!!
So damn cool. This version is great.
i hear this song sometimes in GTA vice city and i love it :D thx for upload :D
Omg same
@DukeofColumbia yes they did and it was not that enjoyable for them. Steve Lynch wasn't allowed to use fingertapping on the tour and Autograph wasn't allowed to be in the halls when Van Halen was around. Oh, and Steve was fingertapping before Eddie made it famous!
turn up the radio! i need the music gimme some more!
Interesting.
They certainly picked the better version for the album, but it's still fun to listen to how it could have been.
"Tape Machine" sounds very dated here 25 years later...
Good Version, thank you for upload this version. Remember GTA VICE CITY.
This song never fails to come on at 3:00 after school, (:
I like the "Turn up the tape machine" line. Too bad they took it out of the official version.
Cheese71 me too! I have this version on my iTunes account!
because this is the demo
At first I didn't realize what I was hearing but then it dawned on me.
I cracked a smile. Heh.
If I recall correctly . . . didn't Autograph open for Van Halen on their "1984 tour"?
Chord progression reminds me of Black Sabbath “Walk Away.”
I know this song from HotTub Time Machine!
I can this song on my e-gitarr :D
Why is it referred to as a ‘raw’ demo on this release but on the Anthology album (2011) it’s simple the demo?
turn up the tape machine (8)

Aside from Steve Lynch's blistering solo, this demo version pretty much sucks.
