Ummm Not Really. Spinelli Was WAAAY Too Soft. And Gus Would’ve Definitely Been More Cut. Did You See His Dad?? With That Army Background, He Would Have More Definition. They Should Switch The Actors Who Played Mikey & Gus. Good Try Tho. With Some Alterations & Some More Thought & Work, Jt Could Be A Real HIT!! I Like The Concept For Sure!!

@@BTalTV So, just because his dad was fit, he has to be? A lot of military brats don't bulk properly, especially if he was TRYING to put on muscles. If he did the "gains" path wrong, well... They did well for the characters. It took me only a moment to go "Yeah, Mikey lost weight and found his self-image instead of frumpy clothes. Gus still has the military styling, but put weight on. Got it."

This takes place during their high school years. Gus went through a growth spurt and I assume Mikey lost weight when he started dating Ashley A.

Brandon Blevins It’s a great continuity nod to the retirement home episode where it was hinted that Gus could grow to be very tall when he met a tall elder who looked like him as a boy.

This is an absolutely gorgeous love-letter to "Recess"; The cast all nailed their roles, and the atmosphere was perfect. This deserves a fully fleshed out series.

LMAO as someone who grew up reading Archie comics... I promise they act exactly how "they're supposed to". There are so many alternate realities and time lines in the series... so what someone made a very campy (so are the comics) mystery themed rendition of it (like some of the comics)...

Archie is basically able to do anything in the comics, and most of the characters are one dimensional, Riverdale brings depth to those characters.

Disney needs to add this (as a full length movie) to it's Disney+ streaming service. The cast members were on point when it comes to demeanor/appearance of the characters of Recess. When I was alerted to this I lost it. I loved the original show. My nickname to my boyfriend was "Spinelli." Thanks for bringing Recess back into my life.

Nah I would say its pretty accurate. Mikey more than likely would of grown out of his "kid shape" and slim down especially since hes actually pretty active. Gus on the other hand probably had a huge growth spurt, his dad was pretty big afterall. But he more than likely would still be kinda geeky and wouldn't otherwise be all to active physically. Though ofcourse the opposite could happen and Gus's dad could put pressure on him to stay fit so he would eventually enlist into the army. But who knows, regardless I like their choices on who played what.

I think the casting is spot on.
Spinelli and Gretchen are the safest characters to adapt. I think Gus and Mikey both were on point.
TJ was not fat, but surely a short and chubby kid.
Here, he looks like a regular dude, with a Sharp chin. We can always find things to complain.
Obviously it will never be perfect, but that's the beauty of it. At least they were true to how the characters dressed and behaved. Their personalities remain intact, and the Actors did a great job at it.
Let's leave it at that, for me this was perfect, and I hope it gets the support it deserves, so we could get more.
Gus was definitely shorter than TJ and Mikey was fatter in the original so that messed me up but other than that the casting and acting was on point
Actually Mikey’s strength was portrayed a lot in the animated series and Gus’s dad was a very tall military man so I can see Mikey getting more muscular as a teenager and gus outgrowing the rest of his friends. As stated above TJ was a chubby kid but not really fat so this just looks like he aged well.

I used to wish for things like this but then I realized that these networks cant be trusted with the gems of the past. Their not the same company they once were and it really shows in every reboot they do. Look at how they canceled the Lizzie McGuire reboot because Hillary duff wanted lizzie to actually grow up instead of being a 13 year old in a 30 year olds body. Look what they did to Young justice after it was canceled and brought back for the DC streaming service. I'd rather let the shows die if they're gonna be resurrected just to be terrible

This was interesting. Almost like a lighter version of "Riverdale". I really would have liked to see more of this group; and see what other kind of mischief they get themselves in (like the original gang). I also really wish Disney would bring Recess back to give it a proper ending - like having the gang in their teens years, and then have them become adults.
Kids today don't know what actual recess is! I'm surprised Disney hasn't though since they are bringing back a lot of old shows/cartoons/movies.
Actually, Recess School's Out was originally intended to be the proper ending before the show got renewed for the episodes taking place in 5th grade.

I cannot believe how awesome this was!!! Seriously whoever made this definitely grew up watching Recess and payed attention to every detail and the use of references from the show. I’m also blown away on how great each actor portrayed each character. And I really like the dark Riverdale type of tone. I’d even say this is waaaayyyy better than Riverdale because each character still acts as how they did in the original show. There are a couple of small things like Spinelli not acting as tough or gus being a little chubby Or randall not having red hair. But seriously big kudos to whoever made this cause this was awesome!!!!! 👍
I absolutely LOVE this so much! The show was one of my all time favorites when I was a kid so to see them all grown up gave me feels!!

This is what "after 5 years" should suppose to be. Nostalgic yet realistic. Innovative but grounded on the lore. Gritty, within reasonable progression.
TJ is still the dreamy eyed leader but now with pragmatic sensibilities.
Mikey feared his size and ate lots of sugar so it makes sense that he will be the firstof them to develop a taste for gymming. Also , him and Ashley A being a thing is not out of the ordinary because throughout the show Ashley A is the most interactive with the gang and thought about Mikey lots of time.
Gretchen could have been more branched out due to her unusual experiences which makes her unique rather than juat being another brainiac but we didn't see a lot about her here.
Spinelli needed more focussed look and a grown up attitude according to their age, perhaps even more now that she understnd the grown up world. It would have been cool to show her progressing towards the field of law or enforcement, seeing how she sees herself fir the little ones.
Vince, well, We never did get a chance to know more. He looked wrong. He would be more on the Jock side.
Gus was the most I was dissappointed. It seems writers envisioned him as a slacker in his HS years but that is opposite to what he would be. He was known as safety man, El Diablo and many more. Sure he would not be Prince Charming but at this age, he would be most bulkier, disciplined, athletic, taller and a member of student's council. His portrayal was the one which seemed out of character the most which I couldn't bring myself to like.
I have high hopes and I think this should become a UA-cam series.
Man I'd watch the hell out of a live-action Recess continuation set in high school.
