very interesting. thank you, i found 2 in my backyard i want to research them what they eat and do all day and hopefully they will stick around longer. I never have seen any before here. I'm in middle georgia there are 2 of them hiding in the taller grass. one is the fancy colors the other is smaller and brown straw looking pattern. not even scared of ne i can walk really close to them, they just look up at me.
Pretty much verifies what I'd already knew raising pheasants isn't that hard but pheasants are crazy little birds, they are not like chickens. And you definitely have to have them in a contained area like the one you built. And obviously you'll never free-range them like chickens or you'll never see them again. LoL I thought about raising pheasants and quail.
Just found your videos. Excellent info! I have a few chickens and was wondering, if I have a chicken that’s broody, could I put a fertilized pheasant egg under her and would she raise it? I’m in Appleton so not far from you! Love the videos! Thank you!
Glad to hear that you found my channel! Yeah, I think if you put a fertilized pheasant egg under a hen chicken, you could probably get it to hatch. Never tried it myself though.
Nice set up. Is your intent to release into the wild. You mentioned they would take off but maybe they would stick around and breed. I'm thinking of trying the mutants or green version of the ringneck. Have you had experience with those?. I've noticed the chicks have more black spotting on some so i am wondering if that darker color predicts a darker green adult. I like the lower bottom idea on your pen to prevent the birds from getting scared and to hide them from predators...smart idea.
Thanks for sharing... I am from Indonesia, 2 months ago I bought a couple of ringnecks. I want to be pheasant breeder because it can be good business there. My rooster barely has that white feathers around his neck, how old does a rooster starts having that ring? Thank you.
Can you please help, I have a female pet pheasant that I rescued when it was a day or two old, she is now 20 weeks old and has bald areas around her eyes, below the eyes near where's the beak starts and on the back of neck, also the bald area near the beak looks raised like a lump, any idea what could cause this?, she is an indoor bird and sleeps in a large cage in a spare bedroom, she comes out and roams around the house in the daytime, since she reached full grown I've been feeding her no 5 maintenance pellets for pheasants
Could be due to parasites. Pheasants in the wild or raised on the ground will dust bathe to knock parasites and bugs off of them. An indoor bird could be infested with these with no way to get them off.
My PowerPoint discussed the pros/cons of raising pheasants. Since I was given permission to buy chickens but not pheasants, I compared pheasants to chickens for aspects such as hunting uses, cost to raise, beauty, and the overall learning experience that I would gain from raising them.
my vring neck chicks were so damn hyper and jumpy, that drowning wasnt an issue.... i dont have issues with them attacking each other, but they are pecking at the other birds in their enclosure...they are still young though...and i dont know what it is with red golds, but the ring necks seem to be a hell of alot hardier than the red gold pair i had
@@schmitzfarmandoutdoors that’s what I was thinking but I was hopeful about coocoo but I’ll still give him a good life and keep him around. Thank you for the info
I bought 1-day old pheasant chicks from MacFarlane pheasants Inc. They arrive via mail. You may have to buy chicks/eggs from a breeder closer to your location.
Great video, well done. You have a lot of expertise.
One of my greatest memories is walking the corn fields of Ohio as a child and be delighted by the quick flight of a beautiful pheasant.
Same here
Miss those birds
Thank you for your video. There's not much info out on UA-cam about these cool birds. Best of luck with your project!
That is a great habitat you made for them. Well done.
I'm from 'Sconsin , and I approve of this video. Great . Nice Thx.
Good eating
I like the little red bow ties. They are fashion forward and provide the little birds with a dignity that chickens can only wish for.
Hey thanks for posting this I used this as inspiration for my own pen you did a great job on that
Many thanks. Amazing video, lots of information. Great!!!
Great video, thanks for the info

Please do more updates on your pheasants. They're as cute as you are 😊

Thank you. Terrific video. Any updates would be greatly appreciated.
New pheasant chicks will be arriving at the start of June. I will create more videos about raising them early on then.

New pheasant raising videos will be coming out around June. Getting more chicks then and can show raising them as chicks.

@@masonbrubaker1952 She is o.k now, thanks for your reply tho
What did you use for the siding on the bottoms?
How is everything going with the pheasants?
Where did you purchase the peepers from?
@@ajalicea1091 The pheasants are doing well! Peepers were purchased from Amazon.
For how many days pheasant eggs going to hatch?
Can you talk about the power point
Pls put a link to your PowerPoint... I am trying t on convince family to raise pheasants as well:). Thanks for your video!

Do u have a video on how you built the enclosure?
Not yet but I plan to create one soon. Within a few months.
How long take from hatch to adult size.
It takes about 20-22 weeks for pheasants to become fully grown. They eat more feed when they are growing compared to when they reach maturity.
The weather I saw in other videos you made did not look like Hollister CA weather. Where are you?
You always end up answering my questions,I just need to watch, listen and be more patient.😂
@@Ceci-kj9ce Great to hear, I love informing my audience about pheasants. Raising them is a neat hobby.
@@Ceci-kj9ce Nope, not located in CA. I’m in the Green Bay, WI area. Lake effect snowfall in the winter can make things interesting.
Is it possible to tame an adult ringneck pheasant?
If it’s possible, you would have to start the process when the pheasants are chicks. As they grow older, they are very skiddish and afraid of people.
@@schmitzfarmandoutdoors that’s what I was thinking but I was hopeful about coocoo but I’ll still give him a good life and keep him around. Thank you for the info

Be careful feeding the boiled eggs whole like that if there anything like coturnix quail or chickens they will eat them after they lay them
That brings up a great point, in the future I will slice boiled eggs if I continue to use that method. Thanks.
Somethings wrong with the paralyzed chicken behind you
I want eggs brother
send me Visa please
Can pheasants be kept in hutches? I'm just wondering as I have quail I keep in big hutches...
Pheasants are much larger than quail. Perhaps as chicks or as a temporary spot it may be alright. I wouldn’t recommend this long term.
