My friend has a Ramses Overdark deck with a twist. He has a proxy alter of Chef Ramsay and the deck is based on food, not only the tokens but like Feast of the Unicorn or Jandoor's Saddlebags (Fifth Edition art with the picnic spread). The deck isn't the best but he has fun with it.
One cool way to finish the game with Tuktuk's deck is after you get many Golems and a Stalking Vengeance like effect in play: you destroy/sacrifice your own Mirror Gallery and nuke opponents with dies triggers
Thanks for the great videos. I've been working my way through the underwelming commander videos. Probably will be going through some of your other videos. Very informative. I would say you have given me new eyes when i look at cards, decks, and commanders. Very helpful.
I voted Ihsan's Shade for this underwhelming commanders video because even though mono-black commanders are pretty strong on their own, something like Ihsan's Shade need some direction to go towards. Doing a Voltron build with graveyard recursion and a little knight tribal, I totally dig that. Thanks for making these brew videos Demo, really helps us deck builders a lot with diversifying the game 👍👍
Because I saw Tuktuk, who is indeed for real unloved since he is so difficult to build around (cheers up for building this deck) I thought about mechanics. There are also a plenty of unloved mechanics in the game. Many of them are wrongly underestimated, like the Arcane spells from Kamigawa or Modular from Mirrodin. Imagine a Osgir, the Reconstructor binge recycling Modular Creatures which will a the electrostatic Modular +1/+1 field and your creatures are pumping each other. It's easy with him to multiply his tapping commander trigger ability. Eldrazi Monument will add so much value. All creatures get flying and you can snowbally sack and pump - Of course there is Atraxa would also fit perfectly for this but I think Osgir will be much faster, especially when you have several Energy Chambers out and other Value Artefacts (more Eldrazi Monuments :D)
The Impetus aura cycle is probably good for Ramses, buff your opponents scary stuff then kill it if you’re the last 2 in the game. Make the creatures do your bidding without actually taking control of them might help draw aggro away from your side of the table.
For Ramses Overdark, I would include Rootwater Shaman. I've had a copy kicking around forever, just waiting for a deck to put it in. You got me excited that Ramses might be the one, and then I looked at his price... Still waiting for a deck for Rootwater Shaman.
Cauldron of souls would be an allstar in the tuktuk deck. When you sacrifice Tuktuk, if you have mirror gallery out, you tap the cauldron in response, he dies, you get a golem, he comes back and immediately dies again and you get another golem.
Last year my play group had a $50 budget commander Christmas exchange and everyone didn't know that Haunt of Hightower existed, let alone be legendary. I wouldn't say it's underwhelming, but I would still love to see your take on it
I like the rout with the Tuktuk deck being more built around burn ETB or burn dying triggers, with the Warstorm/Terror or Stalking/Vicious, probably the more consistant rout to take.
Ihsan’s Shade was one of the first big creatures I ever owned. I have kind of a soft spot for it. Also Iridescent Drake totally belongs in that Ramses Overdark deck.
Tuktuk deck question - Why no Helm of the Host??? Sure it costs more mana to get running then Mirror Gallery, but it is a cheaper card and gives you non legendary tokens to copy.
I always thought Ramses was a really interesting Dimir commander. Never thought to use stuff like Minion's Return. Might end up being my Dimir deck of choice for the "32 challenge."
Have you ever tried making something with Soraya the Falconer? One of my friends suggested it to me as a joke, but I’m wondering if there’s any way to use her at all
@@edhdeckbuilding yes of course, i just thought that it didnt really matter since you just wanted to copy the goblin anyway (unless i missed something). im sorry if i sounded rude i didnt intend that
I’m a big fan of Ramses. It’s ok when you cast it, but the average Ramses deck functions well without him. Constellation triggers, removing threats, etc. are still happening, and if you’re in a pinch Ramses can come out and start to mow people down.
Crown of the ages is a great card. I love when someone puts guard duty or something equally annoying on my commander and I just swap it over to theirs.
Honestly Tuktuk is one of those underwhelming commanders that can't interest me in any way. That Green Partner Splicer commander just does such a better job than TukTuk for Golem generation, and TukTuk doesn't exactly have an interesting niche that the Splicer can't fulfill.

That's the most important part imo - having fun and enjoying it!
ITS RAWWW!
That is beautiful thanks for sharing
I think this is my favorite series of yours, because it's so unique! Hardly anyone is building decks like these on UA-cam.
Cure for the common game has most of not all of the underwhelming commanders on his channel
Its stuff like this that makes me want to keep watching. Loved the tuktuk deck!
You are really creative Demo with underwhelming Commanders!
One cool way to finish the game with Tuktuk's deck is after you get many Golems and a Stalking Vengeance like effect in play: you destroy/sacrifice your own Mirror Gallery and nuke opponents with dies triggers

Kaervek, the Spiteful would be a cool mono black to do next

Didn't check the description but hope you have a deck list for ramses. Thats so cool and fun looking. Thank you.
Yesterday I was just browsing my binder and I looked at Ihsan and thought what I could do in this monoblack! Nice video!
Sick good luck
That Ramses Overdark deck looks like a lot of fun to play. Thanks for the video Demo.

The new bant enchantress commander is pretty good for it when she gets removed enough it's a psuedo replacement for her flash effect
Was waiting for the next episode of these. Always fun to watch!

Sadly the golem is legendary
@@Bioking333 yes, hence the use of mirror gallery lol. It ignores the legendary rule
Right on!
Ramses Overdark was recently played on game knights. Didn't win but it was a threat at the table.
Your channel has quickly become one of my favorites!
P.S. can we get a night mode version of your in vid background please?
Last year my play group had a $50 budget commander Christmas exchange and everyone didn't know that Haunt of Hightower existed, let alone be legendary. I wouldn't say it's underwhelming, but I would still love to see your take on it
A very strong commander if you can keep him in play
@@kingfuzzy2 yeah I made sure that mesmeric orb fit in the budget because one trip around the table made it a 1 shot kill
Right on glad you did discovered that card while brewing an aphemia the cacophony deck
Love the way you pronounce go-lem 😎😍

For the Ramses deck, don't forget about all the licids you could include
One of my favorite tribes good idea
Ihsan’s Shade was one of the first big creatures I ever owned. I have kind of a soft spot for it.

Valakut, Molten Pinnacle would be a really good addition
Thanks Demo. Tough generals this week!

Sacrifice theme for tuktuk?
I always thought Ramses was a really interesting Dimir commander. Never thought to use stuff like Minion's Return. Might end up being my Dimir deck of choice for the "32 challenge."
I built an Ihsan’s budget voltron deck for university magic club and was really fun, went deadly wanderings + homicidal seclusion board wipe strategy
That is broken with trample and various ways of -1/-1 counters
Yay! More op underrated commanders.
I'd love to see a deck tech for licia, sanguine tribune. Mardue life gain or vampire trible for the new upcoming crimson vow set could be cool
Have you ever tried making something with Soraya the Falconer? One of my friends suggested it to me as a joke, but I’m wondering if there’s any way to use her at all
She was a finisher in a mono white bird tribal deck that beat a cedh pod if that is anything
Crown of ages would be cool for rameses
i love this, keep up man!
You should talk about edh decks with either Chandler or Joven as underwhelming commanders that no one plays.
Chandler is easy. Mycosynth lattice. Joven however, would be interesting
For a future poll for Underwhelming Commanders, could you put my girl Chorus of the Conclave in one?
isnt molten echoes just a better flameshadow conjuring
molten echoes only does a creature type.
@@edhdeckbuilding yes of course, i just thought that it didnt really matter since you just wanted to copy the goblin anyway (unless i missed something). im sorry if i sounded rude i didnt intend that
I really want a Ramses deck, but that price is just...yeesh. When I get a settled pod, I'll try proxying.
Proxying bad cards over 10$ is a good idea
If you're doing Ihsan's shade + Painter's servant, how about a Curse of wizardry?
Great idea
Go-lem?
oh my god, lifeline would be great in Wilhelt, a field wipe would almost be a guaranteed 1-sided
It will never be onesided. All creatures come back. Now with wilhelt you gain zombies so that may still be beneficial.

I think "crown of ages" would be great in ramses deck
Crown of the ages is a great card. I love when someone puts guard duty or something equally annoying on my commander and I just swap it over to theirs.
@@thelunchlady8276 I always used it in a mind control deck and when someone put some better target out I'd swap it to it

That is an evil thing to do with imprison in the moon I love it

Maybe WOTC could reprint Mirror Gallery, which is currently over $34?
Yes please daddy Hasbro
I can give you your obligatory once per episode thousand year elixir comamnder in Rakka Mar.

Tuktuk is an old cmdr that doesn't get built anymore. He's basically Goblin & Aristocrats/Artifact tribal and he has a few infinites.
