Looks great! In the same two colors I want to do on my Alumacraft 1436LT too! I am currently building my flooring and casting decks front/rear. Where did you get that Alumacraft decal from??? I cant find them online.
Great job. Clean lines, clean colors. I’ve been watching all the Jon boat to Bass Boat videos, but I’d rather have the skiff since I live near the Gulf. Now I’m inspired to fix up my 1436 Jon. Did you ever consider a casting/polling platform?
Andrew Limb thank you! Oh yea I watched them all myself before I did mine as well lol Yes I have considered it but I don’t want to add any more weight to it. I’ve added a marine mat to it since. But that’s about it! And I can use my yeti to move to the front or back to get a couple feet higher if anything.
damn thats a great job, great paint combo.. really nice, some people slap togather a boat but this looks like a brand new boat off a lot.. this should be featured in a magazine or something lol.. that total boat wet edge is some good stuff on my boat im painting its coming out good, the primer was a pain in the ass kinda but it sticks to the aluminum like nothing else ive seen..
Simeon Johnson hey man thank you, aluminum is pretty good in the salt in general but the previous paint was already screwed up so I wanted to put a fresh paint job on it. I’m sure it would have been fine either way. But I’m just extra I guess lol. And yes it was strong enough, it didn’t have any flex , I added the jack plate because I had a long shaft motor and I wanted it to sit a little higher so I can get skinnier. It also helps with boat control and speed. It is super sturdy as well. Thanks for the compliment! Tight lines -Daniel
Jeff Lawson right above the edge , where the tube meets the boat. On the very bottom of the tube, also helps lay it straight because you just lay it on the edge
Thing looks badass man. How much did it end up costing you? I’m wanting to do this instead of a solo skiff and scooter boats are cool but too expensive.
Yea the solo seems cool for going skinny but you’d need great conditions to pole it without beating yourself up it seems. I’d trade that capability for more speed and room for another person. I wish I was more crafty I’d definitely give this a go.
Great video! I’m from south Texas as well and I’m currently converting my Aluma-weld also to something similar for Mansfield & Arroyo. Is there anyway I can get in contact with you to see what metal foundation you used for the front deck?
I double coated it with a water sealer, and then went over it with an oil based paint, I have it outside with no cover and use it a lot , it’s been holding up perfect. I didn’t know if the paint would have the same adhesion after the water shield so I didn’t let it dry all the way before I applied the first coat of white Just to help the paint stick. So far so good!
very nice job man and I myself am thinking about getting a jon boat too at least 15 foot or so to fish around galveston bay and stuff like that how rough weather and chop do you feel comfortable taking it out in? and anything special I need to do to protect it from rust in the salt water? Thanks
Billyjackman if you put any metal on it or bolts or screw just make sure they’re aluminum or stainless steel. Just wash it everytime you get it off the water man it should be fine. I’ve taken it out in 20+ winds but it’s just a horrible ride in the open bay..it’s possible but not worth it.. if you stay wind protected along a shoreline it should be fine.. but me personally I don’t like to take it out on anything over 20
Joey Pizzuto this was the sea foam color, I used a quart of the primer and a quart of the sea foam for the bottom side. It covered 2 coats barely. My boat is a 14/36 so if you have anything bigger I’d recommend the gallon bro
J- Boy yes sir I did... honestly I’m not sure about the gun, it was one my pops had there in his shop..I tried to keep it at around 35/40 psi when shooting the paint.
QS the transom mount is a TH marine mini jack plate, got it from bass pro.. and the sea foam blue is “total boat wet edge” .. inside(white) is regular rustoleaum.. I recommend getting total boat wet edge for inside and out.. it’s a thick paint and doesn’t chip as easy.
It’s not the greatest lol. I think of it as a sup’d up kayak. So if it’s too windy I won’t even take it out. I hardly ever take it out into the big bays though I’m a marshy/shoreline type of fisherman, so it does the job!
Great video boat came out amazing been looking on buying a job boat and decking it out kinda like yours just had a few questions is the boat sturdy with all the add one ? And how long is the boat ?
Felix Martinez this is only a 14ft boat. I don’t think it made a noticeable difference. Mine is a 1436 so it’s 14ft long 36 in wide at the very bottom. I’d recommend a wider boat it’ll be more stable all around.
ATru yea I threw a quick splash of tomphson’s water seal then painted it all around before install..I didn’t let the water seal cure before I painted because I didn’t know if it would react negatively as far as the paint sticking. So far so good, no warping. I just wished I used total boat instead of the rustoleum. I’m fixing to install that boat deck mat on top of most of it here soon tho.
ATru It may have been better if I added hardener but I didn’t use it, it just chips and scratches too easy compared to the total boat.. total boat lays on thicker in my experience. I’ve seen a lot of builds using rustoleum on the bottom of the boats too I’m so glad I didn’t do that..Lol
ATru hey man if that’s what your budget is go for it, definitely try adding the hardener. But if you can squeeze a little extra just for the bottom it’s worth it in my opinion. Best of luck buddy! If you need anything give me a shout , I’m no expert but I can give you my opinion for what it’s worth lol 🤙🏼
Wow very nice work ...this is exactly what I'm looking for ..👍hey if you could link or tell us what and where you got everything that you put in the boats that would be great...nice ride 💯
Jake Bell 2001 mariner 15hp runs 22/23mph loaded down with 2 people. Inside I used, primer, then 2 coats of paint. For the outside it was primer then 2 coats of paint.
Josh D. I won’t take it out if it’s rough, it’s do able but uncomfortable. Besides I’m a marsh guy. I usually fish along shorelines and cuts. This just gets me there faster than a kayak lol
DP Outdoors oh definitely better then kayak. I have 16x36 with 15hp and Jack plate. Go anywhere in marsh. But trying to cross open water is sketchy sometimes lol. Picking up 18x60 this week.

@@dpoutdoors5828 total boat is good, ima make a video of my boat its gunna be sick! aqua mist outside and sea foam on the inside, 14 foot 1959 alumacraft i wanna put leds now after seeing how nice yours looks..
Since it’s a 1436 I see it as a “sup’d up” big kayak lol it does the job and then some. I like it a lot. Bigger and badder than a solo skiff but small enough to get off and walk it around, if I have too!

Lmao it’s burned in your brain! 😂😭
I finally figured out how to change it with out taking the video down lol
Nice boat, the that’s the most annoying music. A lot
AustnF 😂😂 not the best choice in music I know. It was out at the time lol
Lol musics fine to me depends on what u listen to😂
Boat looks amazing bro! I just picked up a 14ft aluminum and this is exactly how I want my boat to look lol crazy! color and everything
The Barcadas thank you bro! Hell yea man! It’s worth all the work in the end!

Chronic Awareness I appreciate that buddy , I wanted to do it right , well the best I could lol

Has the paint held up even though it's not made for metal? I'm about to use the same paint.
Yes the “total boat” is a huge upgrade from a regular rustoleum paint. It’s been almost 2 years now and it’s in really good shape.
@@dpoutdoors5828 thank you do much.

mike boss total boat wet edge topside paint brotha!

Cool build!!!
Great video! I’m from south Texas as well and I’m currently converting my Aluma-weld also to something similar for Mansfield & Arroyo. Is there anyway I can get in contact with you to see what metal foundation you used for the front deck?
Dillon Z hey man, yes I used aluminum angle and aluminum square tubing for the front deck. It’s light and saltwater resistant for the most part.
Thanks brother, and what did you add to the plywood? Is it just painted over or did you wrap it in something?
& is the front deck waterproof?
I double coated it with a water sealer, and then went over it with an oil based paint, I have it outside with no cover and use it a lot , it’s been holding up perfect. Bradley Enfinger yes sir exactly! 1/2in wood in the center and 22/32 in the front
What jack plate did you use? I have this same boat and want to do something similar to what you did
I think it’s the T H Marine brand, they sell it at bass pro. Sweet man good luck if you need any tips , give me a holler.

Joey Pizzuto thanks buddy! www.totalboat.com/product/wet-edge/
This is what I used!

Joey Pizzuto this was the sea foam color, I used a quart of the primer and a quart of the sea foam for the bottom side. It covered 2 coats barely. My boat is a 14/36 so if you have anything bigger I’d recommend the gallon bro
Bruh! Respect!

rudydena well it was needed since it’s a long shaft motor. But I can run good in about 10in of water .. I can draft in about 6in or less
how hard would it be to roll that paint on?
