- In this video we take you through 10 more features of the USS Enterprise NCC 1701 E in Star Trek The Next Generation. The Enterprise E is one of my favorite ships and has loads of features including several auxiliary space craft such as the Argo. You see the ship in the movies First Contact, Insurrection and Nemesis.

Ok, when will new Earth 🌎🌍 in Star Wars What If idea series videos come out?
Ben, Just a thought but maybe the Argo ship used its tractor beams to control the Argo buggy’s drop and descent into the Argo ship’s storage bay.
You cant make me
Corbomite Reflector... Why doesn´t anyone ever talk about this? :P
What happened to not British Ben?
Worf's starfleet commissioned states everytime the Enterprise is in a movie he has to be there;
Michael Dorn's contract for doing DS9 had a clause that he would be in all the next generations movies.
" Mr.Worf, what are you doing here ?".
" I hitched.a ride, ....Captain."
I wish they had done a better job integrating him through. First Contact did an excellent job, having him commanding the Defiant, but Insurrection and Nemesis he was just there. It would have been nice if for Insurrection, they tried to emphasize he was on detachment after the death of Jadzia. It would have also given his character a bit more to do. And Nemesis they should have just mentioned he was hitching a wide for the Betazed wedding. I supposed it was implied, but two seconds of dialog goes a long way.
Well. I - for one - hope the Borg never assimilate that Ferengi shuttle with multi-phasic shields. That's about the only thing I could think of that would give the Borg perfect protection from Transphasic torpedoes.
I think I understand that.... so agree?
Metaphasic Shields, an interesting hypothesis. Hopefully if the Borg ever assimilate the Ferengi they'll take to heart never spending more than you have to for an acquisition.
@@3Rayfire Dude, the Ferengi literally worship a God of Greed. Sure, they may not want to SPEND a whole lot for their acquisitions, but do you REALLY think assimilating them would make the Borg LESS voracious about claiming everything in existence for their own?
@@timothyhansen6581 I was lightly joking. The Borg already follow that rule of Acquisition, note how they never send more than one cube to try and Assimilate the Federation and get 99% of the way there before they stop. Not even a Tactical Cube.
*Contacting USS/S variant Discovery*
Hey uh Discovery? Yeah uh i got a new assignment Can you go talk to the ferengi and tell them you should make your ships not be assimilated?
Okay thanks
Just don't get spotted i dont want someone saying there was two ships
As always, thank you so very much for the videos.
Back in the mid-70's my favorite "Star Trek" items were the Blue Prints of Various ships that came in plastic pouches. (Before the first movie, before TNG.) So obviously I really appreciate your feature videos. (And I'm proud to say my kids probably do too.) ( And I have to admit, some of my grands do also... )
One feature that wasn't actually declared in the movies, but was heavily mentioned in the novel "Planet X" by Michael Jan Friedman, was that the Enterprise E had a forward facing lounge on deck 10, again referred to as "ten-forward", AND it was run by Guinan because, well, Guinan. The story even had her serving prune juice to Wolverine/Logan because he wanted "whatever that warrior feller Worf drinks"...
Librarian must be strict, wear glasses, and have the ability to shush all talkers.
I'm pretty sure Riker was using am MS Sidewinder joystick 🕹
So that comic at the beginning of the video {showing the Captain's yacht} had the TOS Enterprise casually floating a few meters off the surface of a planet? Wicked
Right, what's great though is when that yacht is launched it takes the Enterprises planatery sensor array along with it.
A Starship landing on a planet, and doing so without the need for landing gear or a dock, is way cooler than any auxiliary craft.
Loved the subtle JJ burn at the end.
British Ben videos are always worth watching!
5:08 i have a friend who'd like me to mention that present day militaries have submarines. Also the aforementioned submarines have no windows or view screens.
They are still able to destroy targets with torpedoes. So, there's that to consider...
In Nemesis, Worf was supposed to assume the position or First Officer in the end. That's why Picard kept making reference to how everybody knew the new XO already. That's why he was there.
But then they went another direction.
The initial plan was for Picard to then be promoted and name Worf the new Captain of the Enterprise.
Ah i see, because Riker was moving to the Titan
I'm pretty sure in Picard's speech at the wedding it was implied that Data was to become the new XO
I had thought they mentioned in the movie that Data was going to become the new commander, and that plan got destroyed by Data's death.
In beta canon, the red mark that Worf received after failing his mission on Soukara by going back for a dying Jadzia Dax kept him from and command promotions. He eventually would become the Enterprise's XO by the Borg War of 2381, but it took a lot of pressure from Captain Picard for Starfleet Command to grant it.
How about the Enterprise C ? I don't see much on that one, and It's kinda my favorite one. I wish they would make a tv series of it leading up to yesterday's Enterprise.
I second that! Everything we don’t know about the Ambassador class. We should have enough material for a Constellation class vid too….
@Diamond Greyfell That might be true, but still could have an awesome storyline for a tv show.
surprised you didn't reference voyagers warp core ejections for us to imagine what the enterprise e ejection would look like
Why doea Geordi have a human body sized closet? Maybe specifically for Data as seen in the movie. We have seen Data get damaged multiple times in TNG. I can just imagine Geordi having it added to the new ship to make it easier on himself when repairing Data.
Repairing.... Right... No that's where Gimp stays when he is not called 🤣
Your vids are getting funnier each time. 12'37" - almost snarfed my root beer. Also, i always wondered about the bare wall thingy too (at 4'45"). Thanks for another great video!
"Surprised that wasn't a JJ Abrams movie." LOL British Ben!
Ship to ship battles are fought by looking at instruments, not out of the window. You also wouldn't put windows on a submarine.
Tell that to the designers of the Seaview...
@@PetersonZF 😆🤦🏿♂️You got my stomach and throat hurting 🤣🤣🤣 Gr8 answer💀💀💀
I really liked the Argo. I thought the 'Turbo Boost' into the shuttle was awesome.
The Enterprise warp core ejection sequence was actually filmed and cut - I believe. I'm sure it was done just because it would spoil Riker and Geordie's line.
Such an expensive sequence to throw away for a cool quip.
All view screens were also holographic even in TOS to the point they snooped around the bridge with it. Those small square personal console ones again on the OG Enterprise that displayed were also massive advanced like walking past a picture window. Loved the idea of just a random wall displayed until the viewer is needed though.
Nice vid, you forgot the "Corbomite reflector" from Star Trek:Armada
Ya should've covered the dog tunnels!
Solid work👍👍
I love your shows!
Great Video 💪🏻👌🏻👽
you forgot the stripper poles on deck 69
Now Troi is married she doesn’t need them anymore
Well cool
The airlock being part of the bridge is the only surprise.
It underwent a small refit between Insurrection and Nemesis. A torpedo launcher was added to the dorsal part of the saucer section behind the bridge module above the shuttle bay, we see it once in the battle with the Scimitar.
Watch part 1
@@GenerationFilms will have to go back, been a bit.
you know that the captain's yacht is missing in the end credits flyby...? The library and clean shaven river are homage to early tng. Riker gets sat infront of a library screen his first five min of being aboard at far point. caught up on mission report. a clever way to do a "last time, on Star Trek the next generation..." the body hiding room is for Data. An amenity of his service. like a dolphin lieutenant commander would have a tank. Data doesn't need a sickbay. Additionally, where do you think any other bionic crew members would go for trouble shooting? Could have become Starfleet standard issue by the time of the E. Great videos!
10:09 is like when you trasmit a radio signal in, multiple frequencies, and the enemy can detect only one at the time, so the others pass through
Wow, next need review video of the Greater Terran Union & Antares Confederacy from Templin Institute soon.
Heya! Great stuff
I imagine the transphasic torps are kinda like MIRV's, you can get one or two of the bang bits, but the rest will hit.
Surprised that you didn't mention that the library is a redress of Voyager's Engineering set or that the scene was cut down because the National Association of Librarians (or wtvr they're called) protested the stereotypical portrayal of their people... yep. That happened.
Haha, thats funny
I think the transphasic torpedoes just basically been space-time around The area it’s donated and in so many ripples that it basically couldn’t be adapted to by the borg
MOAR PLZ 😍🥰
That Manuever will be performed later with help from the cute Trill that was siting next to him.
3:18 Directors instructions to pretty actress playing Trill helmsman.…
"I want you to look at me admiringly, like you're thinking of me as a sexual possiblity".
Interesting note: She's the only helmsman of the Enterprise-E to survive to the end of the film, the others were all wearing redshirts underneath their tunics.
Star Trek 2 [First Contact] - assimilated by the Borg while helping detach the deflector shield along with two series regulars (Picard and Worf).
Star Trek 4 [Nemeses] - sucked out of the bridge when it was blasted open in battle … before emergency shields saved everyone else (seat belts).
Hey you can transport in an ion storm...if you don't mind transporting to the Mirror Universe.
The argo ground vehicle jumping in the back is no more crazy than a Fast and Furious movie.
I think they only let you use the back seat cargo area beam bazooka if you bring a Klingon officer with you, at that resort I mean!
Yeah I needed Michael Dorn on my vacation
@@GenerationFilms Dorn Looks like he'd a fun as hell to have on vacation with!
I'd have liked a much bigger wrap around view screen!
At least 1/4 of the bridge diameter
"Everything cool was designed by John Eaves", yes I agree with this statement.
As Mr Plinkett said, the Argo buggy is less useful than the shuttle that houses it.
There are images online of the type 11 shuttlecraft that show it to be about the same size and similar internal configuration as a runabout, but not modular. I would love to have seen more of those because that was way more than a regular shuttlecraft.
Surprised they didn't paint the Argo orange and played Dukes of Hazzard theme during the jump scene. 🇺🇸
Ah also in the library was an extra character played by Max Grodenchik who played Rom on DS9.
It also looks like the control stick that fighter pilots use to control they're fighter jets and fire they're weapons from missiles to guns and it also looks like the control stick of the vipers from the original Battlestar Galactica.
That "manual steering column" is a Gravis Blackhawk joystick, retail cost at the time ~$20.
Oh did u know In EliteForce 2 there is a Laundry Room I forget wich Deck I saw Somewhere There is a BattleBridge but its not shown on screen They Also have a Training deck for The Hazard Team that just got back from the Delta Quadrant Picard asks Munro (Leader of the Hazard Team) I rather enjoyed watching ur Holodeck session have u ever thought of returning to active duty?. So Picard is able to get The Hazard Team and announces at the end of the game he will recommend all ships to have a Hazard Team on every ship in the fleet.
Ent D Yacht did have warp sustainers ya know! haha
How do we know that you're the *real* British Ben? With that goatee growing in I'm beginning to wonder if you're the Mirror Universe Ben and your true nature is finally making itself known... 😁
Bio neural circuitry could affect the computer with depression.
Forget the Riker Manuever or the Picard Maneuver. Adama Maneuver any day.
SO SAY WE ALL!!!
You can only use the transporters if you are near a class "M" planet, another ship, or a space station.
I would happily use a plane with no windows if I got more than 2 inches of leg room instead.
Haha yeah
Would enter a Submarine without windows, I think not 🤔
Hasn't it already been confirmed that the Intrepid Class was the only one to use BioNeural Circuits, as it used a few experimental subsystems that would be determined to be a waste or not reliable enough.
i have to say. didn't notice the Holo Viewscreen. Dominion influence perhaps?
It is also mentioned that the Sovereign Class starships were built with bio-neural circuitry in a spacedock video I saw on this class.
I've also seen it mentioned that multiple subsystems where tried as experiments in the Intrepid Class that ended up being considered wasteful or not reliable enough and never used on any other ships. This included variable geometry warp nacelles & bioneural circuits.
We got to see Voyager eject it's warp core a couple of times before the Enterprise did. I was not bothered by it being off screen in the movie.
Can John come on the show and Actually Make Us a ship! That would be freaking amazing! (Even if he's gotta scrap it right away due to cc)
Ben, what do you think a CIC in current day warship does… they are in a room with NO WINDOWS and only sensor screens… and they are the ones fighting the ship.
British Ben is funny 🖖
I like the manual steering column but I couldn't buy that it was a single stick with one button. They should have had Aviator controls come out of the captain's chair. Like the ones in the Afterburner arcade create.
So...ricker had a better gaming chair
I always asked myself why the joystick steering isn't the steering method of choice all the time, especially with the smaller craft. Imagine sitting in a shuttle that's caught in heavy atmospheric conditions, ion storms, enemy fire and what-not and is jolted again and again - and then you have to to hit the right touchscreen buttons at the right time to navigate around stormfronts or to make evasive manoeuvers. Obviously it would be much easier to use a joystick.
Regarding the Argo, I call BS! Why the hell would a civilization that has mastered anti-gravity still use wheeled vehicles, especially on rough ground? Anyone who doesn't see the advantages of a craft hovering above rough ground should just have look at a certain Tatooine farmboy whizzing around his home planet. Even some Captain Malcolm Reynolds had a more advanced ground transport vehicle in the end. But the Federation equips its flagship with a dune buggy - yeah, sure, whatever.
Regarding the library, I call BS! I work in a library myself, and I'm happy whenever my profession is somehow depicted in movies or TV. But the Enterprise-E's "library" is just a room with some workstation to do research or whatever - on a ship where everyone can VERBALLY access the ship's computer anytime, anywhere. And even if you are inclined to use the computer manually by using the touchscreen, you can still do it in the comfort of your very own cabin instead of a dusky little room with someone hushing you.
It's good that this scene landed on the cutting-room floor.
Is there redundant life support system and physical airlock in the bridge is part of the dual redundancy of all starflate vessels you wouldn't want to be caught in an ion storm without dual redundancies on everything you need. Plus the ability to replicate everything that is not on ship
I invited Michael Dawn to my wedding he is still here and I'm devorced
Haha
Not sure why some people always compare the manual control to a "video game joystick". Why not compare it to, I don't know, the control of EVERY MILITARY JET FIGHTER AIRCRAFT THERE EVER WAS. I mean, it's not like it looked like an XBox controller. It's a joystick. Aircraft use joysticks all the time. Using a joystick in this context makes a heck of a lot more sense than the four-arrow buttons to manually control the Enterprise D.
Can you cover the ships of Cowboy Bebop
YES! Everything comes from that one graphic we see over Ed’s shoulder
3:18 he sounds like stewie from family guy
Bounce a graviton particle beam off the main deflector dish!
That's the way we do things lads, we're making shit up as we wish.
The Klingons and the Romulans pose no threat to us!
'Cause if we find we're in a bind,
we're totally screwed but never mind,
We'll pull something out of our behinds!.....
We'll just make some shit up 😁
It goes really, really fast... I'm actually not joking, its supposed by second only to the Prometheus.
First episode of voyager, tri-cobalt device. No information I have ever seen on that.
The whole Bridge airlock idea has always seemed stupid to me because it is an incredible security risk. The ships bridge should be the most difficult part to get to for an intruder trying to board from the outside. There should be no external access to anything on the same deck as the bridge.
At the same time, a good escape route and with enough doors itll be too much effort for boarding. Plus, why not just blast through the view screen, much easier
@@majesticwolfyguy6629 Having an escape route can lead to another part of the ship. The command grew isn't going to want to disembark in a hurry unless they're abandoning the ship, it which case, they'd want to be the last ones to leave anyway. Blasting through the viewscreen doesn't actually do much good because an intruder's goal in reaching the bridge would be to take control of the ship, and decompressing the bridge denies them use of it.
Besides there was an airlock on the bridge (or deck 2?) in TMP.
@@AlexandarHullRichter there are shields that cover the view screen area, so, if you can smash in you win, you vent the crew out and engage the shields to seal the bridge, win win
@@biggles1852 Yes, that was a stupid feature, for the reasons I've explained.
The Argo car would have been more realistic, if the would have used an 8 wheeled APC in shuttle craft design with the micro photon torpedo launcher from elite force on the roof
4:50 Uh yeah, they would use their instruments. A window on the front of the ship isn't really going to tell you much useful information. And it even if it looked like a window, it's still a holoprojection in the end, yes? Why have a 2d screen when you can have a truly 3d one.
That last point actually irks me a bit in STO and such when you walk by the view screen and notice there's no visible parallax at all.
Doesn't the Enterprise E have Cetacean ops?
Why would the manual steering column not look like a joystick? Form, fit and function it is perfect now for flying (real and virtual), why not in the future? Realistically, it would probably look more like a double handed steering column and be at the Conn station instead of a pilon in the middle of the bridge someone has to stand at. Even in the seats the crew gets thrown around, standing would be worse!
As for the viewscreen, all of them from every series had to be some sort of display vs a true window. If it was a window, we would be able to see the upper part of the saucer section when looking out, and that was never the case. Besides, with a solid wall, the bridge could be anywhere on the ship and oriented in any direction. No need to be at the top (in the most vulnerable place on the ship) and could be in the middle, better protected.
Using a traditional joystick is more logical, but as the body suit would have taken to long to get ready!
I have a question, how come the E.T have comments block?
Why is it that when a race joins the Feds they abandon their own ship designs for start fleet ones? The old saucer/nacelles variations. What would happen if a race like the Tholians joined. They are completely incompatible with humanoid centered star fleet designs so would they get to design their own ships?
12:53 These stunts were performed by professional Federation officers do not try this at home.
I wonder if the trills just choose the pretty girls to be joined 😆
*no mention of the dedicated Raktajino bar in Ten Forward...or the twisty straws used to consume them...you make sad*
Hmm they cant adapt to quantums either I guess though!
...not enough unnecessary lense flare for J.J....
They were just trying to distract us from what we all know was the real Riker maneuver.
What, sitting over the magnetic pole of a planet to avoid detection?
@@biggles1852 Sitting down by reaching your leg over the top of the chair. Riker does it every time he sits down, except once.
More?????
What if I had a super wepon that could destroy the earth and I not sure to use it or not so I am asking you for reasons for not destroying earth what will you answer
You would need two people to have one, so the doctrine of mutually assured destruction came into play, thus no-one would fire
interesting a starship has more in common with a submarine than an aircraft & yet if a sub has to fight the crew sees nothing not even the Captain all done by instruments .
Finding more features would be difficult, but finding features the Enterprise E Doesn’t have....is easy. 10 features not found on the ship.
Romulan battle cloak
A whale torture room
Thalaron generator
A KFC
Spore Drive
SCP 682
A room built specifically for rap battles
A natural history museum
Anime storage room
Ketrecel white production facility
Dolphin tanks

You're telling me that the E doesn't have Cetacean Ops? How do they navigate?
All viewscreens are holographic- they aren’t windows. Even in voyager you see the grid behind it. This is kurtzman knowledge

I felt like this was already scraping the barrel. Could've sworn I've heard all this from you guys before, but I do consume a lot of lore videos. Is there nothing new of interest in here?
You call yourself a trecker and yet you have baby yoda on your set
The manual steering column was the most stupid thing on the movie 🤔🤦🏼♂️
I have always wondered why warp capable torpedoes were not ever used. As we have balistic nuclear missles in the real world. So why get close. We are no longer using W.W.I war ships. With the 60 mile engagement range? W.W.II was fought with aircraft carrier. Over thousands of miles. So why did they didn't fier long range warp capable torpedoes.
And of the Argo has a vehicle with rear phasers canones. To protect against hostel pre warp socitys doesn't the prime directive do that. As stay away from them.
And finnally While I love the auxiliary space craft in star trek. These seem more comoen in star wars. Really armored multiple days of consumables space suites, and robots to repair the ships hule. With impulse drives should be more commen in star trek. So I understand cheep low buget money. This is why I prefer animation over reality-based television. You can draw anything.
Although I still think the star wars bounty hunters should be in coustume built tanks. With a carbinit frezer, and several prisoners statues cells. Two freshers for the crew several bunks, two isotobic reacters for power, water heater, and water vaporater. At least 1 to 3 months M.R.E. in the gally. As even a wookie can't argue with a disintegrater Cannon pointed at them.
Remember star wars go big or die.
So in closing they are never plantary based adventures.
Photon torpedoes *are* warp capable. You often see them being fired while the ship is at warp speed.
@@PetersonZF you don't see them traveling interstellar distance's.
@@daniellafferety4025 Well, we see them fired at high warp, so arguably those could be interstellar distances. However, I assume you're talking about the concept of firing unmanned ordnance from one planetary system to another. That crops up twice in Voyager with the Cardassian Dreadnought and the sentient missile in Warhead. Also, it's never stated what the range of the silly torpedoes in Into Darkness is, but knowing JJ Abrams, it's probably inter galactic... :p
Not a fan of the Sovereign’s race car design. The huge warp nacelles are a step back too. The entire reason the TNG era ships, like the Galaxy class, had smaller nacelles was to show that warp engine technology had become more advanced and efficient since the original series era.
Galaxy class is far better looking.
They had to start to adapt warp engines due to the damaged to subspace from older ships. It makes sense that the nacelles are larger as they are one of the first designs to get around the problem. Voyagers was another adaption but used varuable geometry instead which allowed it to have smaller nacelles.
Tech gets smaller as it gets mlre advanced and then gets bigger as more is added to it. Mobile phones are a good example of this. Early phones were big, they got really small and are now getting bigger again
The Enterprise-D was a flying cruise liner, designed to be a peacetime flagship. Of course it was built for efficiency.
The Enterprise-E was a warship. It would have been built for power. Bigger engines for higher speed, so it could get to the fight quicker.
Keep in mind that that size is proportional. The Enterprise-D's warp nacelles were individually the size of Voyager and the Connie's entire star drive section, and are longer and thicker than a Miranda class. While the Sovereign's nacelles are longer than the Constitution they taper off and are slimmer than the Galaxy's, which I think shows they were applying the technology a lot differently.
The facial hair adds 3-5 years to your face. Just sayin'.
