@@WorkLivePlay hey mate if you have a spare second, from your knowledge how common is burning canvas from a vented into tabletop fridge? Just bought a 2008 jayco eagle with brand new canvas, and an anderson plug to run the fridge whilst driving, last thing id want is to burn a hole in the canvas first use!

Hey mate , I don’t think you’d burn the canvas , it definitely gets warm up too , but if you have a look , the bed goes straight over the top off it , which is a plywood bottom . Maybe ask your local Jayco dealer, no harm in ringing them and asking the question .

I echo the others, top presentation. My grandpa used to make kerosene fridges here in Australia, they weighed a ton, so not very practical for camping. The tech was so simple, wish I could dig him up to make me a portable chest fridge that you could set up on ground at camp, outside where heat can vent to the sky, add some citronella to the mix to keep the mozzies away.

We just looked at a 2016 Eagle Outback today, and will likely buy it tomorrow. Your videos have really helped me understand how these things work! The Swan is just slightly bigger and slightly different layout to the Eagle, so I'm finding it very helpful. The fridge situation had me worried, but you cleared that right up for me! Just subscribed, and will be looking for more tips and tricks from you on these! PS, I'm a floor guy too! Carpet and tile cleaning!

Great information. I have a Jayco Eagle with a 3 way fridge and it's awesome. I have done the fan mod which does help it cool down quicker and maintain temp on hot days. We also have a Companion digital thermometer which gives us confidence that the fridge is working correctly. We are on our second tow car with this van and both cars were set up by a good auto electrician with the standard 12 pin setup. The fridge is as good on 12v as it is on gas or 240v. An auto electrician is not the cheapest option but for us it's worth the dollars to have the fridge working perfectly on long hauls.

    • @WorkLivePlay
      @WorkLivePlay  3 роки тому

Thanks Peter. Agree an auto electrician makes sure its all going to work correctly, most however do recommend changing to the Anderson plug system as you can run more appropriately gauged wire. That said there are plenty running on the standard 12 pin arrangement.

Great video to show me how to run the fridge on gas. Did it for the first time today following your instructions and it worked straight away. Problem was, it looked like it turned itself off after about 5-10 minutes. The red line went back down into the white without notice and sometimes even before 5 minutes it would do it if i opened the door. any pointers?

My freezer compartment holds about eight bottles of water, and it freezes them solid. the shelf below it reads 32 to 36° the one below that is about 4045 thereabouts, so what I do is I take the frozen water bottles and put them in the various parts of the fridge while another eight bottles are freezing.

Fans are in our newly acquired 2017 Penguin Tourer but previous owner has siliconed the vent top and bottom covers to van ?. I checked them under 240v powered connectio but noticed some of the cheap white cable ties are broken. The recessed part seems to be missing. Do I remove the existing cover and replace as per original. If so I will install stainless steel ties which I believe the original Australian kit should have been supplied.
Been watching your videos and in the process of implementing some of them eg. The silly top drawer under sink is one.
Been struck down with some bad virus which has stopped me from proceeding 6 days and just starting to feel a bit better. Plenty of time to watch your videos Big thanks Graeme

Great tips for us newbies - thankyou. I'm just trying to wrap my head around the power side of things..... does the van fridge draw power from the vans battery at any stage? On another note, I have a grey ando on the back of my car....what would make one decide between using it to power the fridge or use it to run to ?charge the vans battery? I only have a basic setup: 93L 3way fridge, 100Ah gel battery, BMPRO J35a battery management system. Thankyou

But as soon as the person I have hold holding the purge in let’s go. The flame goes out. Seem to have no gas flow unles the purge is held in. I have done the stove burn off, full bottle, replace gas reg. But no go. Any ideas I have would help a lot. Love you channel keep up great work

    • @WorkLivePlay
      @WorkLivePlay  3 роки тому +1

We have been on some pretty awkward sites when camping along rivers etc. Levelling ramps are the best option but I do tend to carry around some lengths of solid timber as well that you can use to level the van as well. The key I find it to get it as level as you can just via the wheels and jockey wheel. Then tweak with the stabilisers as required.

I loved your video. Very informative. I have a 2003 Jayco Eagle pop up trailer. The propane burners on the stove are working. When I light the refrigerator pilot it stays on as long as I am holding the purge button. It is switched to propane. As soon as I release the button, the pilot goes out. I held the button down for three minutes. Still went off when I released it. Should I hold the button down for a longer period of time?

    • @WorkLivePlay

Hi Mark. These would be aftermarket cooling fans. I suspect one light would be to indicate the fan kit has power, which then changes to another colour when running. I'm looking to fit some internal fans to ours just to test. Their aim is to aid with the cooling by flowing air through the fins.

Thank you. Very helpful. A further query. Hoping for some advice.
We have a new Jayco Swift. (2021 delivery) Going on a long trip soon, up north, and want to run the fridge on 12volt to keep the food cool. Previously we travelled for shorter distances in cooler seasons and didn't bother running the fridge. We have the 12 pin plug, fitted and auto brakes only a year ago when we bought the van. How do I tell if it has a cut off so when we stop we don't drain the car battery? Also, is it advisable with the camper trailer to run the 12volt fridge when the top is down and the camper is being towed? I always pop the top for ventilation when powering up at home but when driving it needs to be secure. The only thought there is that the ventilation is increased with the air rushing by when travelling, making it OK.
    Thanks

    Hi
    Camper installs
WARNING Inefficient Fans canbe caused if u donot do the following ,
**Best condition is for fans to suck off the upper condensor fins , this requires ducting between the two.
** Fans installed only does not pull alot of air from/thru condenser . Inefficiency is caused by pulling air up the rear wall and then sucked out by fans . The air has to flow thru the mechanical bits .
    Fix with baffles and duct
** fans only mounted on fins recirculates the air and does not suck on condenser enough .
    fix by baffle or duct
    *** Use 2 x 50-60cfm fans 90mm each
Optional ,, some fridges come standard with a fan above the absorber tank . This is a great spot to help cooling .
That all I have on 3ways regards fans . Done properly the fridge will be a consistent performer .
Fridge install and servicing FULLY are never done properly .

I have an old Kelvinator 3 way in my van.
1st week flattened the aux battery forgetting to switch it off.
    Then
For the life of me i had no idea how to run it on gas
To the point where a mini explosion would happen from a build up of gas.
Then one day I tried it once and
You little rippa it worked, and never worked again 🤦.
Watching your vid I had no idea to purge the lines using my stove.🪄🙌.
    Cannot thank you enough.
    Just tried it on gas.
Boom 💥 it worked 1st click.
I've been without a working fridge for months.👏👏
