Amazing isn't it? I bet none of us older motorcyclists ever thought we would be interested in bikes made in India. But, I admit I find this and the RE's very appealing.
Lovely looking bike I’m with you that. Charger looks fine and mechanical sympathy is a must with all my bikes this is the bike most likely to be added to my collection at some point I hope just giving it time to be proven reliable 😊😊
l took one for a test ride last weekend and it had a bit of an on off throttle at low revs which was a bit annoying but overall l really enjoyed the ride
Nice job Nick, would look good in your garage for sure! I think spokes are often the weak part when it comes to corrosion, my W800's spokes were pretty grim in places. Of all the features of this bike I think the one that intrigues me the most is the external oil tank, not sure why it does, perhaps because it's not a common feature these days and I hope it's not a total loss system 😁. It will interesting to see how well they do this coming year, the dealer network seems to be building nicely so I can't imagine any serious issues regards to parts etc.
Interceptor has stainless spokes & the new model has Alloy rims so no tube. Can get stainless spoke conversion which would be a great investment on a W800 Bonnie BSA for ease of maintenance & keep them looking mint.
Hi Nick, I now own this very machine, which I purchased two weeks ago from Eddy's. I have already covered a little over 350 miles. Obviously I'm biased, but it really is flipping fabulous in every respect. The engine pulls like a train, even in 5th, that really surprised me. I know the build quality is lacking and the materials used are far from the best. I have already found some rust, but I can put most of it right at the end the season in October. I don't intend to expose my Star to winter riding. I really enjoy every minute of being on it and it is incredibly relaxing to ride with little wind blast even at 60. I find the best speed is 50 at just under 3000 rpm, with the exhaust making that lovely muted burbling noise. Distance comfort is excellent and I have ridden for 3 hours straight without problem. I strongly recommend folks to test ride these 650's even if you are not seriously looking. It's not a motorway bike, definitely more a Friday afternoon ride to Filey for a cup of tea bike though. Keep it on the A's and B's, it's where it will give you the most fun.
Hi, I’m really glad you like it. You’re right of course about the build quality but if you keep on top of those issues it should serve you well. I am surprised that the new owners of the BSA name haven’t come up with another model or updated this one as it has been out for some time. Most other manufacturers would have done so by now. Anyway, enjoy it as much as you can, though perhaps not today in all this rain. ☔️👍
Put some ACF 50 on anything you think might rust and you'll be fine. Great stuff. www.amazon.com/ACF-50-Anti-Corrosion-Lubricant-Compound-Aerosol/dp/B000P1C8UO
Well I hope it gets to your part of the world soon. It’s a really nice bike but as it’s so new to the market it’s as yet unproven. I’d be inclined to wait till the bugs have been ironed out..! Thanks for watching. 👍
Oh yeah and just another one I've noticed on these bikes when leaving squires, the rear light, it's tiny oh yeah the lens is reasonable, but it seems to only have a small led in the middle of the lens, which in poor conditions is a bit iffy, look like a push bike 🚲😂
Oh dear lord that usb box nick, I saw an early review on the bike were he mentioned it saying that the plastic hinge on top looked frail and wondered if it would last with repeated use, and you have now answered the issue, NO it's not fit for purpose 🤦🏻♂️back to the point that the devil is most certainly in the detail 🤨
Hi nick re sirvice on your 350 did they do the tappets on your sirvice as you left it for hour or so would the engine have been cold enough for adjustment mine are due just wondered cheers bill.
@@thesilverfoxtravels6653 are you sure nick, I purposely checked the valves when my son and I did the 3000 service on my meteor, and we found them a bit tight, and the very reason that I did it was I had my doubts about if they had actually been checked on the 300 service, especially given the short time it took, they did say they have a 'blower' so it didn't matter if its warm, but my understanding of valves is the check should be stone cold. And if I hadn't done it it would be another 3000 miles with tight tappets 😬

I would probably be more excited about it if RE hadn't released the new Classic 350. It's the bar for how a new/retro bike should work and look. These, they just look like a new bike trying to look old. Doesn't work for me I'm afraid. I wish them well, more bikes to choose from is always better. Ride Safe 🙏🏼
ive owned beezers before and cant beat the old sound if bsa want to compete with truimph and royal enfield they need to do more models not just the gold star and here in new zealand we got no dealerships , after owning truimphs and bsa all my life i went and bought an indian scout but....next year might get second bike it be truimph more models available and more power
I agree, BSA do need to prove themselves with more models. Thought in my opinion this bike is just a “toe in the water” test to see how the market react. We’ll just have to wait and see. Thanks for watching. 👍
@@Booneville2024 well I had to return my interceptor 15 times for cutting out they couldn’t find the problem with what caused it so I got shot quicker than I bought it
@@Booneville2024 but there’s a lot that are on here complaining and royal Enfield are not replying horror stories speedo’s breaking cutting out I bought two of them and by far I think the 411 scram is a excellent bike shame the spokes went rusty otherwise I’d still have it it’s amazing how some have similar problems and others have no issues still worth the money 👍
From England, I reckon real, old, genuine BSA would expect you to service your own bike, mend your own punctured tyres at the roadside, and race against every other vehicle on the road on every occasion. Blown engines are part of the deal, and you fix those by yourself, too. Otherwise, get a Honda. And be totally happy for the rest of your days. Both options carry equal biker points. It takes only moderate stones to tell a Beezer Believer where to shove it. For full satisfaction, get a Harley-Davidson, and the Beezer Believer will consider it shoved. The Gold Star is only a robo-caller's wet dream anyway.
Mmm I think that the usb box looks like an after thought, or something that they got off ebay! And why are the BSA logos on the engine casing stickers! Really at six and a half grand stickers, they couldn't have embossed it or etched it 🙄 and that old re-worked rotax engine as used for the bmw f650gs way back, or that huge radiator, come on nick they could have made it smaller and more aesthetically pleasing don't ya think, as they say "the devil's in the detail"
Yeah I agree, but as a first offering it’s not that bad. The USB box could be better and the radiator could benefit from a better design. As for the stickers on the engine well, I think it’d look better without them. As with the Classic 350’s I believe that it’s aimed at new riders looking for something that has a retro look or a returning rider looking for a trip down memory lane without all the oil leaks and starting issues of old. 👍
@@thesilverfoxtravels6653 as a first offering, royal enfield's first offering was the Intercepter, and I'd say it was a significantly better job in my opinion.

I wish BSA well, a little costly compared with the RE Interceptor although some more premium parts. Easily capable of most duties.
