Tonight's video is for people who want to sleep, which means I have made it a bit longer than usual and have included some of my favourite triggers. In addition, I will be whispering some sleep steps that you can take to have a better night's rest.

I never heard someone else explain it that way, I've been getting this for many years now.
I can feel my brain generating random thoughts and stories. Sometimes I get that when I wake up without enough sleep, I can spend a few minutes while my brain is still dreaming, I can almost control what random stuff get generated, like lucid dreaming but half-awake 😅
Yes, it's like my brain generates random stories too! I was filming until 4am last night and was absolutely shattered by the time I went to bed and as I was drifting off, I was aware of my brain shifting to this imaginative state. I've only ever had lucid dreams a few times but I'd love to learn to control it more.
@@ASMRShortbread I've only had real lucid dreams when I was very young (I tried to convince people in the dream that we're in a dream 😂).
In this half-sleep/half-wake state, it feels more like gently guiding the random thoughts. The example that comes to mind, a few times I woke up then almost slept again but I got in this weird state, I half-dream that I'm scrolling through social media (something I usually do to help wake up), but I kind of control what kind of random stuff I see in the newsfeed.

Sometimes the key to sleeping is trying to stay awake. If I focus on the person talking to me through my phone maybe I'll doze off 😁

How many times as a I would try to stay ip toll my parents went to sleep. Never did. But when I needed to sleep (and even now) and I focus on that, Im up for hours. How weird our minds work.

32:50 Those flashbacks aren't as random as one might think. In my experience, they happen because the brain connected something from now with something then. Usually, it's a subconscious connection, and it's often pretty tenuous, but the connection is there, nonetheless.

I know exactly what you're talking about when you know you're about to fall asleep. To me it feels like I'm just thinking then I realize none of my thoughts have made sense. It's weird.
Exactly, my brain doesn't stop thinking (which is why I can't sleep), so I'll be thinking and then suddenly tell myself "wha... that didn't make any sense at all... was that even a sentence?" 😂
Thankfully, watching ASMR videos manages to silence my thoughts a bit.
I agree 1 million percent with that last point! Watch ASMR. I watch everyday and sometimes just listen to fall asleep at night. I watch ASMR not just to sleep but to feel better when I'm upset. Last year was very tough and scary for me. ASMR helped me out so much. I feel like I owe big thx to many Asmrtists out there. And yeah I did thank them for it. I hope you get to 100k very soon. You have great content and an awesome voice!

I am of Scottish stock and even know my clan, but I haven't been. My grandmother is from Ayershire (even had to walk across the Brig o Doon and pass the Auld Kirk on her way to school) and my mother got to live there for a year in middle school. Me? I was born in the US at the beginning of the biggest economic slump since the great depression, and thus have never had the chance to go.
