Not sure how you do it Mark, but massive Kudos for getting the review videos out so quick after the games. The man is on fire !
That was a strange game. It reminds me of how Munster used to be, when they kind of won just because they were Munster. Munster used to win so many games in the 79th min when they were the number one team in Europe (a few years ago). That's 8 games in a row. They are simmering along nicely and I sense that Rowntree and his team have the team peaking when they need to. I'd so love them to win the URC and make it two in a row. Now that they have a home Qtr final, it looks very likely that they are only 2 games away from achieving it. Munster in Thomond with a full house in the Qtr's will be hard to beat. Leinster will have to once again prioritise the Champions Cup so this is good for Munster. Of course the other top teams in the URC will still have a say in how it pans out. A Leinster v. Munster final would be so cool, they could easily fill Croke Park and definitely the Aviva.
I missed parts of this game but from what I gather there was some un-usual reffing decisions. It was nip and tuck til the very end but methinks that the old Munster is back. The one that always seems to end up scraping a win. This win helped Connachts chances, if they could muster a win against the Stormers on Sunday, we might have 4 Irish Clubs in the Qtrs. Oh my, the Welsh clubs have really gone downhill. Crowley is the real deal. Johnny who ?

Munster at a massive disadvantage with the sun in the first half and fair play to Edinburgh for spotting it as they kept putting pressure in the air, you could see how it was so different in the second half once Munster could actually see the ball
To put it Limerick way. Edinburgh played the sunshine designtly in the 1st half. As we would have, given the chance.

As an Edinburgh supporter who was at the game, I have never, EVER heard a ref booed like that at the Hive! But I cannot blame them, all we see is RG Snyman on top of Healy pushing him into the ground and then there is a Penalty against us, which they go on to score from. You can see how it looked bad from our POV. Well done to Munster though, they played their game and game out on top, so fair play.

Yeah, as I say, looks very different on TV but from the stand it looked bad, still think it was very harsh to give a pen against Mata.
On the TV you could see that Healy pulled Snyman in and started the scuffle on the ground. It may have looked bad from the stands but the replay the ref saw was an Edinburgh player starting a scuffle and another Edinburgh player launching himself at a prone player.

Thanks for the review, Dhá cent. I thought it was an entertaining game. I agree about both controversial ref/TMO decisions in the 2nd half. As a Munster fan I thought the ref was harsh on Dún Éadain - I did think Snyman's tackle was late just for the fact that he put his hands up to tackle when the ball was already gone. But at the other end I had no idea what the TMO was so certain about for their try. Also thought their logic of "we think the ball was grounded (at some stage) and we think the ball was over the line (again at some stage) meant the try is good" was somewhat lacking.
I'm not sure what the TMO was seeing, I couldn't see the ball, never mind the grounding. Need to remember that Specsavers appointment for Monday.... ;-)

On the other hand not giving a penalty for the 9 deliberately throwing the ball at another player doing his best to get onside was the bravest decision I've seen in years.

100% agree on the Bill Mata penalty thing. Everyone just needed a schoolboy telling off. That score was a massive one. Couple of harsh ones against Edinburgh, but then again Munster got some against them too. Not an easy night to be a ref. Great game, both teams looking great for finals
Yeah man every ref is gonna handle that one differently aye but it just felt like a massive call... then again so did the eagle eye grounding call by the TMO.... I wouldn't want that job
I don't see Edinburgh making the finals, we're a very poor team at the moment.

@@TwoCentsRugby the grounding call felt like Scotland vs France all over again. Except the TMO in this one had some balls to make a decision, rather than flipping back and forth like they did in the 6N.
As a Cork Hurling fan I was wondering had James Owens turned up with his whistle only the Munster fans will only get what I'm on about, the rugby was exciting Edinburgh shot both big toes off...and the TMO must be seeing fairies too ....with that second try

So, I imagine they will be on top form tomorrow to get the win.

@@TwoCentsRugbyFrom what I have read on Reddit & Irish news the Dexcon stadium is falling apart. They got a €45 million Grant to re-do the whole Sports ground, build a 12,000 capacity Stadium & will take roughly 18 months to build. The Stadium will be knocked down at some stage next month.

Only caught the 2nd half, but good result v a decent team-and 8 in a row is damn good.
6 qualified, and 7th play 8th in R18, which leaves one playoff spot up for grabs among the 9-11 places-Ospreys look to have the best chance of nicking it. I'd like to see Benetton get there too, then all countries would have a rep.

As a neutral: That last Edinburgh try was never a try, but I blame the video ref for that.
Delighted to see the referee did reward a cheating penalty player for a deliberate throwing the ball at player crawling away from ruck.

I was at the match. That ref was awful. Loads of weird decisions going on. But even though my team lost, it was a really entertaining match with a cracking atmosphere.
Is that a new ground? I swear I never recall seeing Murrayfield so prominently in the backround.

not too smart by Healy for sure. Thought the ref had a poor game alight, shoulder to the head on O'Donoghue, picked up by the camera but nothing from the ref or TMO and how long did he spend checking that 'try'?
Oh yeah I forgot to mention how long that bloody TMO check took.... painful

And the home crowd booing the opposition kicker....real class
URC keeps producing good competitive games. So far this season almost 46% of URC games finish within a seven point winning margin. Compare that to Super Rugby where only 34% of games finish within that margin. In 2023 only 30% off Super Rugby games finished within that margin.

Dont think last tries should have happened/counted. Agree that the penalty that led to Munster was a talking to him and snyman and restart with the line out. And I couldnt even see the ball in the shot that 'confirmed' that last Edinburgh try. Also we (munster) were lucky the ref didnt even consider a penalty try along with the Murray yellow card.

Munster always looked more dangerous even with the 1st half errors.

Referee had a shocker tonight
In fairness to the ref. He was a bit crap but was clearly inexperienced but grew and had a decent last 10. Weird decisions, including the tmo, led to a dodgy try each, missed high tackle each. Reffed the scrums well i thought, breakdown got better second half. Sincerely think he'll go far.
Bear in mind wiley dogs like Snyman, Beirne, Casey, Watson, Ritchie, Gilchrist etc were all on their worst behaviour trying to game an inexperienced ref.
Great game for the URC. Love Edinburgh in the smaller stadium.
Might have complained a lot earlier in the series but this is definately the time to peak

The mody frustrating thing with edinburghs lack of attack is how little duhan gets the ball. All he is good at is running eith the ball and he didnt touch it fornthe first 20 minutes. About 3 times in first half despite appearing to have more possession

@TwoCentsRugby especially when edinburgh have absolutely no attacking setup after a crash ball off ten. After 2 phases complete mess. Why not just get duhan in the centre channells taking crash balls

The ref had a shocker. The TMO was even worse. How can the TMO call a try when there is no clear view that the ball was over the line. It was shocking.
The scrummie pass into a Munster player that are clearly offside and he doesn't give Edinburgh a penalty. WTF?

But deliberately looking for that penalty was like diving in soccer and as a neutral watching, I was delighted he didn't give that penalty. Hopefully more refs are brave enough to follow suit
@@andrewkelly7799 No the Munster player was lazy and knew what he was doing. If he just stayed down he would have been fine. He got up as the and the scrumhalf was ready to play. There is nobody on earh that can tell me that ball wasn't heading to an Edinburgh player. If there was nobody on the side he was passing to I would agree with you.
Don't agree, he clearly threw the ball at a player, who wasn't connect to ruck, was on hands and knees crawling away. When started moving away, the 9 wasn't looking in that direction. The 9 was looking for penalty. No time for that shite as a neutral, even if it was my team. The loss is too raw now for Edinburgh fans to see past that.
Maybe both sets of fans can moan about the ref but the munster ones got them scores.
Think the referee 'over-refereed' that game. All the decisions could be seen to be to the letter of the law, but sometimes a referee need to 'feel' the game and blow accordingly. The game had the making of an excellent game for the neutral, but was not given the space to develop (if you know what I mean).
Still enjoyed it as a neutral. Problem for Munster is they do not really want to play at home, as they seem to get up for a fight, better, when they are away from home ... just saying.
I can't understand why Healy went for touch instead of the 3 points. A draw would've almost guaranteed us a place in the knockouts, but now we have to get a result away to Benetton. Pretty poor officiating tonight; I felt that the referee bottled big decisions for both teams. certainly not a boring game
Sadly- the decision making and captaincy within the Edinburgh team is as poor as their ability to finish when on the try line or pts up. Sad to admit they do not look like winners at the moment. …. And with so many internationals? Poor….😢
Ref what ref, oh you mean the man with you know what in his mouth? Getting rid of the scrum is like getting rid of the ref whistle oh hang on? The ref and TMO decision to award a try to Edinburgh I reckon no no way. Come on the officiating was not good to say the least. The thing with Vellacott was he was looking straight at the munster player when he threw it into him. It was so obvious that's what he was trying to do.
If he had've been looking at one of his own players and done exactly the same thing, he likely would've gotten the penalty
