Lewsey was a proper hard bastard though. Easily one of the toughest players of his era, no one messed with him. There is some footage of him on UA-cam doing a similar tackle on Tuigamala who must have been 19 stone at the time and Josh is a kid but still fells him.
Plus there was that Jerome Kaino tackle that basically wrestled back an opponent that was diving over the line. And that George Gregan tackle on Jeff Wilson is a boogeyman moment in NZ Rugby. It added to the mythical nature of the player we all loved to hate.
I still remember that Matthew Tait try saving tackle as if it was yesterday. No one at Welford Road could believe the pace of his covering run at the time and then his ability to tackle the player beautifully in to touch. It is one of, if not the best try saving tackle I have witnessed in person👍👏❤️❤️
Robbie Fruean what a beast, so unlucky his health condition kept him out. He would've been a great centre, the all blacks would have developed him so well.
That’s what you want in your defence is a player who never gives up to deny a try. Matt Seers (North Sydney Bears) against Brett Mullins (Canberra Raiders) chase was awesome. Even though it was Rugby League.
@@sagamauga8074 in the final game of the season.. I remember watching it and Rupeni was away, the commentators were all like its a sure thing.. and the cullen flys on to the screen and takes him in to the corner I can't find any highlights will probably have to go into the rugby archives
3:02 - Sharks # 13 off his feet, cleaning out a prone chiefs player that is already "out of the play" - leading with head & shoulder, no arm wrap and makes direct, forceful contact to the head with head / should... penalty TO the sharks... what a difference a few years makes in the game
When Fiji's 10 gets tackled by NZ on the line there was no clear release by either player involved in tackle 🤣🤣 the stuff the ABs used to get away with was criminal
It was wonderful, Dallaglio did the same to josh kronfield in a similar situation in an England test at Twickenham from memory. Just picked him up and turned him around
How is "That Tackle" on Jeff Wilson missing here!? Given you're making UA-cam content I'm guessing you weren't alive to witness it? That aside, an enjoyable video.
That McKenzie tackle is BS. Hands on the ground over the ball, no clear release from Barrett. They're 35 points up will 18 to go, this type of stuff shouldn't be rewarded.
How dumb this was ....the best ever try saving tackel was George Gregan, Beldiose Cup ,when he knocked tbe ball out of Jeff Wilson's hand on the try line

Ben Smith has got to be a contender for best all-round player in rugby history. Such a classy player.
One of the best comments in a while. Ben Smith is nothing short of pure top shelf class !

Nah I disagree George Gregan has to be the best the world has seen
That tackle doesn’t hold up today tho, never let go of him
@@mattiecranwell2308 I mean its really just smart, if you're chasing down a runaway try from a world class winger, cheat when you catch them. Chances are the ref won't see it.
That Matt Tait tackle will always be the greatest of all time for me. Was bang in front of me - I couldn't believe the ground he covered.
We were right there too. Amazing
that Josh Lewsey tackle was really unbelievable. He must have weight 15 kilos less than JdV but still smashed him
Lewsey was a proper hard bastard though. Easily one of the toughest players of his era, no one messed with him. There is some footage of him on UA-cam doing a similar tackle on Tuigamala who must have been 19 stone at the time and Josh is a kid but still fells him.
@@oliverhunter9495 just looked it up, yeah was a good tackle but not quite the same sheer impact. Not surprising he was so hard, he was a military man

Kaino on Digby ioane 👍

Can you tell me when in the video
Ben smith taking down Tuilagi was incredible BUT where was his support?! Brown just faded away into nowhere
Class video, deffo have to include goromaru's tackle against scotland in part 2!
marked 🤙🏻
Faf is such a little master. Basically somersaults to save a try. Love D. Makenzie too. So quick.
Sharks fan but that cleanout at 3:00 was dirty.
Try saving in New Zealand terms.
I was saying the same thing 🤦🏽♂️ real dirty
Those days it was still okay
Be about 12 weeks on the sideline now... and anyone that says shit like that shouldn't be rubbed out of the game is a muppet.
Love it when the tackled taps the tackler to say 'solid bro'
Well done gg best rugby channel love your content keep going bro
thank you ❤️❤️
of all rugby type videos, these are my favourite!
Why is Sam Underhill's brilliant try saving tackle against Wales in 2018 not included in this montage?
it will be part 2
JP Pierersen against Fiji 2007 RWC QF and Danie Rossouw on Josh Lewsey in the Final against England.
Robbie Fruean what a beast, so unlucky his health condition kept him out. He would've been a great centre, the all blacks would have developed him so well.
Yes I was excited about him, heart condition unfortunately.
Ouch. I remember That Gregan try saving tackle on Wilson… heart breaker 😭😭
Just went checking the comments for this one, and I hear ya.... heart breaker.
For part 2 Warburton on Tuilagi, and Underhill on Williams.
Commentator: "THEY'RE NOT GONNA GET HIM! THEY'RE NOT GONNA GET HIM!".
B.B.: "Lol. K. GG!"

0:21 lmao that smile
Awesome compilation
Christian Cullen had alot of try saving tackles too💪
2003 against Rupeni
How do I find it?
@@sagamauga8074 I've been trying to find it ever since! It was blues vs Hurricanes in the super rugby round robin

Incredible!
thaks mate
JPR on Gordon was by far the best and most important.
Marika is definitely the best. On the line, getting your momentum and body on exactly the right place. Masterclass.
And a dirty bastard. Shoulder charges/ no arms in every game. Thats not commitment - thats cynical
bloody quick JOC on bowe, clearly lots of grounds to take on
J.P Petersons 2007 tackle on Fijis Rawaka 2007 RWC
Another great save was Pietersen in SA vs Fiji 2007 rugby World Cup.
The Reece chasedown was pretty good. But god damn if Jackson Garden-Bachop isn't the slowest first five I've ever seen.
He's actually a loose head, they just stuffed up the jersey and put a 0 on it 😂

Funny no mention of Japie Mulder’s historical tackle on Lomu which saved the 95 World Cup?
Manu is pretty quick for a power build
Why was the support player on the other side of the planet when the defender was closing in on Tuilagi???
Can someone explain how this wasn’t a high tackle at 2:25
It wasn't really a tackle
Nice video.
3:01 red card not seen by the ref
Still blows my mind that Robbie Fruean didnt get an All Blacks test
bbs save and ben smiths is the best ever imo
Not sure if this is everyone. But on a line break the only thing im thinking as i watch that faster than me fullback coming is...(fu** Fu**fu**) haha
Danny Houghton in the Challenge Cup final?
Vincent Clerc was also saving a lot
hahahahaha jackson garden bashop vs sevu reece, i wonder whos gonna win xD
Missing maybe a nice save of Maxime Medard with Toulouse in h cup
Ben Smith!!
2:56 if it was his dad he was gone!!
You forget how good DMAC is in coverage
The DMAC who got run over in the weekend playing for Waikato?
How about Joost VD Westhuisen stopping Lomu?
Jerone kainos tackle on the french guy at world cup best evet full stop.
It was wonderful, Dallaglio did the same to josh kronfield in a similar situation in an England test at Twickenham from memory. Just picked him up and turned him around
Dupont's tackle against Tonga
marked for part 2
Ben Smith simply the best.
Damian Penaud tackle?
Ben smith has good balance
いつだってセーブするのはニュージーランド
こういう練習を普段からしてるのかな
Does the all blacks never have to stand after a tackle before contesting the ball ? Looks like a fault for me
BOD could do it all
Moroni Vs Wales
WC 2023
