Later models do have a replaceable 18650 lithium ion battery, but Midland strongly encourages you to use their own branded battery, even if other models from other manufacturers may be physically and electrically compatible. Older models also had one, but it used a proprietary two-pin connector and were somewhat more involved to replace.
