    Early 2000's Kings ran a mix of Adelman Corner and Princeton with success.

    Thanks for the upload, very informative piece.
    It seems like you need fairly celebral players to pull this off, it'll be interesting to see if Phillie will be able to pull it of.

    if they notice the princeton, it's up to nash to switch to pick n roll, nash is treaky player after all he's an 2-time mvp. i'm excited to watch there play

    ppl are dumb. this would work wonder in La. Pau is a solid passing big man. Teams like G'Town always have good passing big men. The offense is a read and react D that doesn't allow a defense to focus on defending one guy. Theres always something occupying the D.

    Kobe and the other teammates that worked with him in 2008-10 should tell Mike Brown the Triangle Offense. We have Superman 2.0 and Nash in the triangle offense that offers over 340 shots available.

    In college i played against a team that ran this (Alabama Huntsville), they swept us. It's a pain in the ass to guard

  • @t4d0W
    @t4d0W 11 років тому

    yeah you got a point. Nash despite his age likes to be frentic at times and push the ball and Kobe can probably deal with it. Dwight probably prefers the half-court game more. The perimeter defense is a liability as it is with Nash and Kobe so not getting dwight back to defend or another athletic wing or forward to defend really hurts the team.

    this is what Scott's offensive scheme will be for LA. Do you think Hibbert will fit well in this system? He has a solid shot from around free throw area on the right elbow.

      Yea it looks a tad bit like the Triangle. Focuses on spacing and continuing moving.

    Iam new to learning offensive schemes and I dont really understand the basic overview of the Princeton approach. Could someone who does understand it provide a one or two sentence (and admittedly over-simplification) description of the concept?

  • @BackwardshturT

    The Lakers enter the 12-13 NBA season again with two of the best big men in the NBA, though it will be Pau Gasol and Dwight Howard instead of Gasol and Andrew Bynum.
    "We’re a big team that’s going to play big ball," said Brown.
    The Lakers hired Eddie Jordan as an assistant coach this offseason, which will result in at least some change to their offense.
    "We're still going to do a lot of stuff we did last year. We're just incorporating some of the Princeton stuff."

    Lakers likely to be running this now. Let's get it on!

  • @voltigeur
    @voltigeur 12 років тому

    it definitely isn't an oversimplification. simple offensive plays are often very effective in the half-court.. as long as there is ball and player rotation, which leads to a breakdown in the defense. players with high basketball IQ would definitely agree with me.

    It doesn't stop you from not using the Iso. It stops the defense from being able to key in on one guy. And once again, they aren't switching ot a Princeton offense. They want to adopt the principles

  • @lakewoodgrad05

    the princeton offense is very complicated, LAL have the parts to do it with above average shooting center Pau, but when the head coach is a defensive expert don't expect much from the offense. Saw it here in Cleveland with the best defense and the NBA's mvp LBJ, and still couldn't get a title

    I know this is likely an oversimplification, but to me this offense boils down to playing hot potato with the ball until - late in the shot clock - the defense breaks down and someone finally gets open for a backdoor pass and scores. Someone please tell me that I'm wrong and that this offense is actually brilliant. I say this because I'm a Laker fan and I'm a little concerned/skeptical.

    This offense ran by the Lakers will give the rest of the league some problems. A lot of ball movement, good off ball movement, and fast paced. This is great for the Lakers... Nevermind, just remembered Lakers have Bynum's slow ass!

  • @kirkusinthecircus
    @kirkusinthecircus 12 років тому

    Now they have Andrew Bynum for their 3 point range xP

  • @JustD86
    @JustD86 12 років тому

    It could work. Better than giving Kobe the ball and watching him. One concern. Bynum 1mph slow body. Not so sure he has the footwork and speed to run this offense then has to run back on defense. Works better for Howard though.

    I'm pretty sure its always worked their just trying to improve and not just stick to one thing. Phill Jackson used it with jordan and kobe. its won him 11 rings and has worked since then. Other teams know the triangle still stubble against the lakers.

  • @kaikaichen
    @kaikaichen 12 років тому

    I guess, but is it efficient enough to work most of the time? It seems like a bit of a gamble. What if an elite defensive team is able to keep up with all the scrambling?

    If we were going to go with a more structured offense, why didn't the Lakers stick with the Triangle Offense and why pursue Nash? Doesn't this offense, along with the Triangle offense, make it so a true point guard (such as Nash) isn't needed?

  • @deandrepage1048

    Lakers used CHIN OFFENSE for Brandon Ingram as the 1st Play of Summer League Tournament last season. 😀😀😀
    Perfect for LeBron James now, who had coach David Blatt, a former player at Princeton.

    3:33
    Meanwhile the shotclcok is at 2.
    This is why the lakers can't get their offense going, it's too complicated. They need to go back to simple post ups and have nash slash to the hole or pick n roll and let them do everything more naturally.

    Mike Brown's system has proven it works, but you can't take an old dog like the Lakers and make it learn new tricks. Now, you give Mike Brown the Bobcats or Raptors or one of those teams give him a superstar and a few role players and he can implement his offense fluidly. As opposed to comin' to a team that knows only one offense and been winning with it for years...Coach Brown was really at a unfair disadvantage.

    That's a lot of coordination between a lot of different players at once with a lot of variables. Athletes aren't paid for their brains and the more complexity, the more likely there will be entropy. The KISS technique might be better. KISS = Keep it simple, stupid.

    People that end their arguments with "end of discussion" usually have an isolated argument such as yours. Every commentator on every station and in every paper said this trade puts the Lakers back into competing for the championship. None of the Lakers has had anything bad to say about the trade. Maybe you are the smartest person ever to have watched basketball, but I will have to go with every single commentator.

    But the thing is LA doesn't have the personnel, seriously Kobe likes to isolate .. Triple Threat taking guys on 1 ( which he is 37% shooting in that offense ). And what ? you wanna do this with Ron Artest ? lololololol

    Best offense is Miami Heat offense. Fast break full court passes for easy lay ups and dunks. Whats that? Your team can't play that offense? Oh yea, must have D-Wade and LeBron to make it work. Heat ball so hard.

  • @shicrapt
    @shicrapt 11 років тому

    All that player movement is useless if you don`t have enough shooters, just like the Lakers. Nash is the only threat from long range and he doesn`t even shoot much. You can move around all you like but the defense will just back off and dare you to shoot. Artest will obviously get a lot of open looks.
