Does it become redundant to have a warehouse in a city accept an item when the city has grown in size to consume that item? Asking in relation to, will the city pass on the item like a warehouse to another city even though it consumes it itself... assuming it has enough of the item.
Good question. With a warehouse, no it isn’t if you want that good to travel further. Yes it will pass it on, but ONLY AFTER it has taken it’s demand first. If you just need it in that one city only, it would be redundant to have it chosen in your warehouse.
If you have an item in a warehouse in a city. Any suppliers of that good that go there will bring it for that city's demand while also bringing that item for cities after that destination. It's a way to get more use out of your supplying freight trains. Since they may not always be bringing good for the city's demand but can also bring that product to fulfil the demands of a city farther down the line.
If I had 2 warehouses in a city on unconnected tracks. Would they have to share the items in tje warehouse to transfer them or could that city hold 12 items and they move between the stations? L Hope that makes sense
Great question! You would need each warehouse to have the good selected. So for 2 warehouses, you would have a total of 6 shareable goods, not twelve. I think I’ve only used this particular mechanic once, quite a while ago. I believe it can be avoided in almost all situations. I would suggest to not have raw goods inside a city warehouse. I use them only for manufactured goods, which would cover a 3 city cluster nicely.

Do you always keep Freight and People on separate lines and stations?
Yes I do except in rare circumstances
