I fully agree that this is hands down the best level of the entire game. I took my time on that level and I even let the song play a couple of more times before talking to Pauline to complete the level.
While playing this I kept telling myself, "Don't die, this part is easy, don't die and ruin the best part of the game..." Suffice it to say I died 3 times
HiddenNinjablade u can have multiple files go to options then go to load and u should see a file that says new game load that and it'll be a whole new game
Maybe you could go a long time without playing this game or any new other video game for like...5 to 10 years. Then when the time has come you'll forget what was so special about it, but then you'll feel it all over again
She's way better then Peach thats for sure. Gets kidnapped way less often, better looking, an amazing singer and to top it all off she actually seems like a capable leader.
I love the way this level seemlessly integrates both the 3D sections and the old traditional 2D sections all in such a slick and seemless way, especially with 2D sprites with a 3D CGI background. It is fantastic level design
From some of her "moans" during her dialogue scenes, Pauline seems VERY happy to be there. Who else watching this in public had to turn the volume way down after the first 15 seconds for fear people nearby would think you were watching porn?
This level is awesome not just the level but the feels you get from the song and how the level is a reference to Mario and Pauline’s history of how he would rescue her from dk and Pauline is now my favorite princess in the Mario universe
I actually cried playing the first time I played this level. When I was a kid, my dad would always watch play Mario sunshine and we'd laugh about the game together. He passed away somewhere down the line, and this level and game reminded me of those days. Wish he could've seen this level; I know he would've been amazed too. This game brought out the kid in me and I thank Nintendo so much for continuing to bring out the children in all of us

I just played this part of the game for the first time, I was shedding tears like a baby. Never have I seen such a beautiful tribute to Mario such as this. He has come a long way since the NES days, jumping between different consoles in each generation and improving not only his jumps, but also the games he's been on throughout the course of his legacy. One big moment for me was how much of a big leap it was for Mario to go from traditional 2D platforming to stunning 3D visuals and a wide arsenal of moves and jumps in Super Mario 64. And today, Oddysey delivers on that, it is so amazing that I refer to this game as "Super Mario 64 2.0". And then they bring back Pauline, who has not only been seen since the days of Donkey Kong and is amazing to bring her back, but also became a freaking mayor!!!!! Thank you to everyone at Nintendo for creating such a wonderful icon, and for all the games that they have made, including this one. And thank you Mario, for all the wonderful adventures to this day. This was easily my favorite part of the game. Metro Kingdom proved that it was a relatively peaceful kingdom to every other place. Unlike the previous kingdoms, which had you fight bosses for multi-moons, you just do this part to celebrate saving the day, and get a multi moon at the end. That's why I love that world as a whole, too.

You didn't lol all g, Greatest level in the game, true to the title. Makes you happier than you ever felt playing Mario while, making you sad you're not a kid and that the good ol' days are over
This is the greatest sequence in gaming. In terms of pure joy, just how happy it made me. When GXN released its video of how playing Odyssey was found to be an effective means of curtailing depression symptoms, it’s literally this. The absolute peak serotonin levels this unlocked for me. Haha
I just love the ending so much. Its a shame when you replay it you dont get that, you just collect the moon and have to manually talk to her to go back
35 years, dozens of games, millions of people having the time of their lifes playing them (incluiding me), when we needed it most, Nintendo gave us the NES, gave us Super Mario Bros., the videogames industry got a 1-UP and the rest is not history, is a legacy This level feels like a massive "Thank you for everything" from Nintendo, and damn, I couldn't help but tear up

I absolutely LOVE this level-as others have said, it felt like a fantastic tribute to all things Mario! When I visited my family for the holidays after this game came out, I told them all to watch as I played through it. They were all stunned at the quality and loved the references. :D Thanks for the trip down memory lane, Nintendo!
Not only is this single level the reason why Odyssey should be Game of the Year, but also why Super Mario is going to be HUGE in the 2020s. I think Mario is going to play a key role in the revival of Jazz music into the mainstream. Everything about the Roaring 20s can be summed up in New Donk City from the vintage marquee signage to the NDC Festival with of course, "Jump Up, Super Star". Jazz has been a part of Super Mario even going back to the 8-bit days but I'm glad that it's being emphasized the last few years.
Agreed,I remember the first time seeing this level I had the biggest fucking smile on my face that I’ve never had when playing a Mario game in forever, with the music, homages to the original Donkey Kong arcade game, and Pauline singing it was by far my favorite part of this game right above this game’s version of Bowser’s Castle
Who agrees that this song should be ayed along with a entire tribute to mario and nintendo for the 2020 Tokyo Olympics...nintendo has earned its place in American and japanese history nintendo has always pleased its fans one way or another and it would be cool to watch them do a whole section dedicated to nintendo
Nope25 yes! If you go into the building behind Pauline, there’s a man standing near the stage with a “...” over him. Talk to him and you can go back to the festival!

You didn't lol all g, Greatest level in the game, true to the title. Makes you happier than you ever felt playing Mario while, making you sad you're not a kid and that the good ol' days are over
Crusadrian, Mandatory last name I sure felt happy playing this level
Well it's the 2nd in my opinion because party time from sr3 is the best
Yeah, I regretted not putting the tuxedo the first time I did it.
@@dr2d2 but you can buy a suit with gold coins at the metro kingdom crazy cap store. I think that's what he meant with tuxedo
3:45 I just noticed that wink
Gahd damn! Every element in this game is amazing!
This is the greatest sequence in gaming. In terms of pure joy, just how happy it made me. When GXN released its video of how playing Odyssey was found to be an effective means of curtailing depression symptoms, it’s literally this. The absolute peak serotonin levels this unlocked for me. Haha
Lmao everyone walked that stair slowly to hear more of the song
This exact moment *proves that this game redefines Mario’s origin story.*
If only there were a *Mario Bros (1983)* connection in this game.
😢😢😢😢
I just love the ending so much.
Its a shame when you replay it you dont get that, you just collect the moon and have to manually talk to her to go back
Tom Wilson yes yes yes yes!!!!! That would be amazing
Mario: You are a much better kisser than Peach…
(Mario and Pauline both kiss.)
There were water droplets falling down my face.
One of the greatest levels I've ever seen in a video game. I had a big, stupid, goofy grin on my face the entire time I basked in it lol
35 years, dozens of games, millions of people having the time of their lifes playing them (incluiding me), when we needed it most, Nintendo gave us the NES, gave us Super Mario Bros., the videogames industry got a 1-UP and the rest is not history, is a legacy
This level feels like a massive "Thank you for everything" from Nintendo, and damn, I couldn't help but tear up
i cried so much, it's just f*king beautiful. back in 2017 I was so speechless...

Now this and the Super Mario 64 Tribute is why the legacy of Satoru Iwata and Nintendo Lives Forever.
People do understand who Pauline is right?
TempoArces
Most people won’t and that’s sad :(
Hopefully
Pasquale Libertino Marios girlfriend from the very first mario game
jmafia48867 aka the girl that donkey kong kidnapped
Andrew AoTTG i wonder what their current status is
I absolutely LOVE this level-as others have said, it felt like a fantastic tribute to all things Mario!
Two musics pop in my head :
-The Mario theme hummed in Sunshine "skill" levels
-Dolphin Shoals from Mario Kart 8
The Jazz Age had been around since 1920s and 1930s. Still, Jazz become a genre that popularized to this day.
I started crying when this happened
Love the little jingle when you pick up the multimoon at the end.
You waited until the opportune moment to grab that multi-moon for the music to naturally match. We thank you for that.
I love how this is a homage to both OG Mario and Donkey Kong
You deserve 1,000,000 subs! Keep up the hard work!😉
i wonder how’s DK is doing..
he ded
He dead...
Just like club pwengwin
I wonder how Luigi's doing... And Junior... What about Rosalina and Wario? Where did they go?
luigi manufactures baloons
Right now he's dealing with a frozen island.
Even though I failed a couple of times, the whole thing including the musicians recruitation, really put my mood up. I felt with a new energy.
Im almost 30 years now, but god damn, this game and this level in particular made me feel like a little kid again!
Almost brought tears to my eyes. It was like the culmination of and celebration of nearly 40 years of Mario.
Man, Mario. You never touch Pauline.
Your rhythm is awesome, dude. You knew JUST when to talk to Pauline and when to grab the moons 👍
HE DID IT
HE TIMED THE MOON WITH THE MUSIC I COULDN'T BE HAPPIER
This song pops into my head so much when I'm in a bad mood and it does a whole 180 and I get happy.
This level and the Escape at the ending of the game were my 2 favorite parts of this game
Mario clearly had been chasing after the wrong one...
Good job with getting 100 subs btw
Thanks so much!
@@grillscout7815 I think I LIKE this one better than that wedding with BOWSER!
Is there a way to play this again?
Nope25 yes! If you go into the building behind Pauline, there’s a man standing near the stage with a “...” over him. Talk to him and you can go back to the festival!
Game Scout thank you!
Game Scout I'll try listening to your advice cuz I REALLY wanna play this awesome level again!
Game Scout I just went back from the festival AGAIN! Your advice actually worked! 😄
Jose Matamoros nice! It’s a great level! Have fun!
Perfectly played/timed for a UA-cam video! Amazing sequence
This is more than just a level. This is a celebration of everything Mario is.
