    Just picked one of these (blue) with smoked top end for 40.00. Super clean nearly new. Just put hyway 52mm popup top end to it. Visually looked it over for obvious vacuum leaks, yamabond base gasket, installed top end, assembled remainder of saw. Checked jet settings BOOM! high side about 1/8 turn, reset both jets to 1 1/4 as a starti g point. I let the base gasket set up a couple hours, threw bnc on it, gassed/ oiled up, pulled it and it runs AWSOME!! I got strait to some small wood, then right to noodling burying a 24" rig. It was a little doggy i thought a d just about the end of the first tank it woke up!! I reset carb, fattened up H side a touch, n ran another tank thru it. Gonna put couple more tanks thru it as is, muffler mod it, retune n should b a good saw. Its not my 7900 dolmar by any stretch, but with only 2 ta ks thru it it appears noticeably stronger than yours,, but you sound REALLY rich on top also. Have fun..

    one tip i would give you while working on or around pavement/cement, when setting the saw down while running, it really takes a toll on the bottom of the saw at idle on hard surfaces, soo much so it will even wear into the tank on some saws over the years!

    I've been into chainsaws for a long long time now. I run them and build them. Mostly I cut for firewood. First saw I bought was a Husqvarna 359 still have that saw and its still one of my favorites its also the first saw I ported. I have collected about 25 chainsaws over the years I have several of the clone saws and have had pretty good luck with them. I do not leave them stock first thing I do is time the engine then pull it apart and figure out where I want my port timing numbers. I scored a few of the blue saws on clearance that shipped from china for about 90 bucks each. I dont run a tree business but I work on saws for 2 different tree trimming and removal companies near me they have been running a holzfforma 288 that I built for them for 2 years now. Only issue they have brought it back for is the recoil for the starter isnt the most sturdy and they broke it 2x I did realize that they were drop starting it and the recoil was bottoming out so I used a little thinner rope and left it longer and they havent brought it back since their faller loves that saw and wont let anyone else touch it LOL. The only issue I had with the Holzfforma 372 was the tank vent I ended up having to relace it with an oem husky one. The saw started randomly running lean and when I started troible shooting it I realized it was the tank vent not allowing air into the tank therefore keeping the saw from pulling fuel on vacuum.
    After seeing your video on the 1911 and now the chainsaws I subbed ya.

      Thank you so much for the support! Glad I could help fill the void of a channel with saws and guns, haha. This 372 has been a great saw and I may be do for a one year update. The recoil recently went on me so I bought an OEM one, but didn't throw out the original so I may just work on it to keep as a spare.

    I just ordered a G372XP and am looking forward to using it. I had a Husq 394 that was a beat up former loggers saw. It wasn't pretty but had excellent compression and ran great! I lost the saw, was my fault. I haven't found another that was within my budget so I decided to try a Holzfforma. I'm putting a 36" Oregon bar on it for bigger wood and will probably try some milling. I'm here looking at upgrades that may improve performance and durability. Thanks for the video!

    Thanks for the comprehensive and honest review, well done sir!
    I find it faster when breaking down big rounds like that to just use a sledge and a wedge to get the wood sized down to what works in the stove best.
    Cutting them down with the saw as shown makes such a big mess and wastes a lot of wood on each cut. Give it a try.

      I’m not opposed to maul and wedge, but time was the main concern. These logs took up a lot of space in my driveway and I needed them moved asap.

    Hi from Ireland. Just wondering have you much work done since with that saw. Just got one and really like it. I was a big fan of the 254xp 20 years ago and like the simplicity of these compared to the new auto tune modern ones

      After this video, I put it to work. I think this year I cut more than ever and I definitely like this saw. The plan is to run it until it’s dead! They also make a 395 which I’ve been considering but for now I’m very content.

    That smaller silver dog that comes with the saw has the chain guard on it! Make sure you have a chain guard installed

      The other dog set that I have on the saw also came with a chain guard so yep, it is on there.

    My fuel cap started leaking after a couple tank fulls and the choke is flimsy so I got oem caps and choke, oem intake boot, I had an oem carb already and then I split the cases and put good crank bearings in it then got a hyway pop up piston and cylinder kit with a muffler mod and the saw is awesome and should be nice and reliable for the most

    • @theprofessionalamerican
      @theprofessionalamerican  7 місяців тому

      There’s a part of me that just wants to do the bearings, crank, cylinder, and piston but right now it’s running good. Once I have an issue, that’s all being done.
      I keep watching the caps because I had heard some people had them leak. Mine are still going strong thankfully.
      Thanks for watching and commenting!

    The g372xp did good, idk if the 455 would have made it through.

    The bigger dogs are also the same as OEM, just a matter of preference. I have a Husqvarna 372XP x torq that came with the large ones and I have a Farmertec, both with the larger dogs. I run 28 inch bars and for bucking up big logs nothing is better than the large ones. My farmertec also came with the small set.

  • @zeromark202

    Great video! You did it right about not even starting it with aftermarket carburetor. Have two of those and tried multiple different aftermarket carbs, replaced with oem and ran great. Had I clutch break on one but so far for the price isn’t a bad saw. I built a 660 kit and it has been a good saw also.
    Did you sell the 455 rancher?

    I'm a Stihl fan pretty much, so I don't know much about Husky saws. But that clone seems to be running pretty good and I like the way you a changing out any parts that are for sure going to be an issue with OEM parts. I haven't looked up the CCs of that saw but it seems to run alot like the Stihl ms361 I use to have and I loved that saw. It was 60 CC range of saw. I put a 25inch bar on mine and I loved the skip tooth chain on it. I think it was better at clearing chips or noodles and cause less drag when cutting through big wood.
    The one the one thing I would mention is that the chain will never be as sharp as it is brand new and sharpening an unused chain is not going likely to ever make a new unused chain cut better. I would use the new chain as is till it dulled a bit before sharpening it to your preferences if I were you in the future.
    Great video. I really like your positioning of the camera and your editing. Great job. 😎👍

      Thank you for watching and the comment! So Husqvarna makes it simple: a 372 is a 72cc saw. Holzfforma also makes Stihl clones too if you need another saw in your life…who doesn’t?

      @@theprofessionalamerican lol I just bought the G111 clone of the Stihl ms200t a top handle saw a bit ago and I'm waiting for it to be delivered later this month.
      I use to have that Stihl saw and loved it. But im just buying this clone because I enjoy cutting with the Stihl Ms200t, but the OEM saw is just too expensive even used. Besides I have no need for a chainsaw these days, so even if I had the money, paying that high price for a used OEM saw doesn't make sense to do. Lol

    Well, with the stupid behavior and design crap Husqvarna USA has pulled recently, I’d look at knock-offs for my next saw. Can’t get corporations to honor warranties anyway, nor can you find a competent repair facility.

    • @theprofessionalamerican
      @theprofessionalamerican  Рік тому

      It’s not really that bad of a saw to be honest. The carb is the weak spot so with that gone there isn’t a ton to worry about (maybe the oil pump). Even if you got this saw and spring for an OEM piston and cylinder, you’re still under what a new 372xp costs by a lot.
      And I hear you: good small engine repair is getting harder and harder to find anymore.

    • @daviddonahue1862
      @daviddonahue1862 10 місяців тому

      Seems like buying oem is the way to go, clone = bad carb, recoil,compression release.

    • @theprofessionalamerican
      @theprofessionalamerican  10 місяців тому +1

      @@daviddonahue1862, not sure where you got that info from my video. Carb is the only thing that almost everyone says to replace. I took out the decompression valve, because I would do that on an OEM 372 as well. Ran it pretty hard and often this summer with no issues.
