355 for me. It was always a toss up for me growing up in the 90s between the 355 and the Diablo. I suppose I'd have to drive both to see which I'd go with.
As always very informative big guy, my choice would be the F355, but I'm biased because I own both 328 & 355, I've driven a few 360's & never felt comfortable with them, thanks Rj in Oz
I think the 355 is a better candidate for what the final car will be. There is more for him to play with in the sharp angles plus the 80s styling of the 355 will hit the public and car show scene much harder in the face!
The 360 MUST be the better car, because it's the newer one. Sitting in a 360 is modern, comfy, normal. Sitting and driving a F355 is something crude, special, exciting, may be even hard work - pushes the emotions... and it's still fast enough for todays traffic, trust me...
The first car that I drove was my uncle's 1952 Willys. So a great car. By the way, I never used the transmission (I was 9 years old). (Edit: nice cars but I have to problems with them : 1st: money 🤣🤣, 2nd : too wide and low for my country and the roads where I love to drive. My best options will be: Suzuki Cappuccino, Mazda Miata, Fiat 500 Abarth, Suzuki Swift SPORT (we can buy them new in my country), Peugeot 206RC, Renault Clio SPORT, a Mini... all the small cars of that kind. By the way, I have two Ford Super Duty, a GMC Yukon GMT400 and a 1988 Monte Carlo LS, and on those roads, I prefer my 2018 Suzuki Alto 800, not fast, but really fun to drive "fast" on those kind of roads, because its 1.49m wide. By the way, the Alto 800 is a 0.8l 47hp car, and a really "organic" car, so you can feel and listen everything (transmission, tires, suspension, steering, engine, brakes), for me, fun is not going fast 😁😁, is enjoying everything about driving ). Greetings from Costa Rica, Central America.
Except the 360 is more and less a slighty updated 355... What's more, the Challange Stradale retails for 3 times as much, with no manual option... What earth are you on about?
For the record I have owned many Civics , and I do like the 360. The 355 to me is just the perfect Ferrari as a mix of old and new and such a beautiful shape .
355 all the way! The pop up headlights and the crest above the fenders just represent 80’s/90’s sports car. Ferrari really is synonymous with that time period imo.
What an enjoyable video. Magnus is easy to watch - his statements are fairly minimal, given the need to present he manages to find the balance between narrating, but not waffling on. My dream car is a 360M in TDF blue but the 355 is just beautiful. 😊
In the flesh I’ve never seen a better proportioned car than the 355, it’s so pretty and clean looking with just the right amount of flare and aggression.
355 all day. I'm a huge MR2 fan and the simplicity of the 355 IMO is just better. My dream car is a white Mk1 MR2 with a fully built 3vzfe all motor swap with rolled fenders, and wider tires...well maybe a small blower :)
I went to a sports car dealership and asked "which one is your worst car?" He answered the 355 by pointing to a yellow one. He said that those cars always have trouble, and that the 328 or 360 in comparison were much more reliable... His words, not mine.
The 355 is the best looking timeless design and I love it when Ferraris are in other colors other than their signature red. That blue is absolutely beautiful.....🔥🔥🔥
How does the 360 manage to sound so monotone, almost 4-cylinder like when the 355 is a complex mechanical symphony? Was there a different firing order or header arrangement between the two.
Both the 355 and 360 have 5 valves per cyl. The 360 added a variable exhaust camshaft timing (phase variators) and different intake/exhaust designs which changed the exhaust sound. Even if they both ran the same brand exhaust system, the exhaust sound it distinctively different.
That's the question everyone should wake up to. I love them both, but the F360 a little bit more. If I could own one of the two it would be a red F360 Modena spider with the glass over the engine and black panel around the taillights. Possibly white interiors. It just screams OutRun.
This styling comparison would not be complete without also including the 550M and 575M, for some V12 examples. The 575M Maranello considered the modern equivalent of the 60's 275 gtb.
The 355 is just such a looker. Were I to be in the market for either it would be no contest. It would be pretty rare that I ever got to drive either of them at their limits, so I'll go for the prettier of the two. Plus the older any car gets the less geegaws and electronic nannies it's going to have. Less to break and less to interfere with driving the car. That's one lucky kid too. I learned how to drive a manual in an old truck with "three on the tree", which allowed me to drive my 1987 Toyota Corolla hatchback with the shifter in the correct place. I doubt I'll ever get to just smell the leather on a 360. Then the kid accidentally winds up being a race car driver. When people whine about "privelidge", I think this is the dude they're talking about. I'm not mad at him though. I'm happy for him. Some people squander their opportunities. He obviously didn't.
The F355, on top of having a really nice exterior/interior color combo, manual gearbox, it is also the more desirable early spec too. And while almost every angle of the car looks beautiful, it is especially beautiful at 9:31-9:32, you see the sexy c-pillar, subtle rear wheel hunch and tail lips, perfectly sized rear wheel and gap, Pininfarina badge, side air and brake ducts, and the tan interior through the glass. The Ferrari crest sticks out tad bit too much on this black car but it is an important option for collectability so...
For an F355, Maintenance at worst is similar to a BMW 335i. If that can bankrupt you, just get a BMW, or at least enjoy bankruptcy in style with a F355 ;)
That's a impossible choice, alright. The 355 was the first Ferrari I met as a kid, it's such a classic, and I love the popups! Then, the 360 came, so advanced, so beautiful...It's like choosing between losing an arm or a leg...
Was my dream car the F355 and I owned a red full leather interior and roof cover Manuel 1995 spider. Style, sound and handling was great but have to say it felt like a sports bike engine, all revs and not much torgue! Yes had to take the engine out to change the timing belt..
Still think the 355 is the most beautiful automobile ever designed, and the greatest sounding Ferrari ever. I still remember when I first saw it in 'Goldeneye' in 1995 and have been in love ever since.
Yup!!
I gotta go with the 355, can't beat popup headlights :)

As always very informative big guy, my choice would be the F355, but I'm biased because I own both 328 & 355, I've driven a few 360's & never felt comfortable with them, thanks Rj in Oz
A black Ferrari 355 driving from Los Angeles to Neptune's Net? Retail that costs more than I can afford pal.
The 355 is like the last of its generation while the 360 is the lower end of the modern Ferraris. If you pick a 360, then it should be the Stradale.
Except the 360 is more and less a slighty updated 355...
What's more, the Challange Stradale retails for 3 times as much, with no manual option...
What earth are you on about?
I always said the 360 is the Civic of Ferrari's , lol
For the record I have owned many Civics , and I do like the 360. The 355 to me is just the perfect Ferrari as a mix of old and new and such a beautiful shape .
Stradale doesn't have gated shifter 👎

Its weird to me when people see that as some kind of design flaw.
Having driven both as well I'd def go with the F355,but there is always the thought in your head about when it is going to break.
Personally, the 360 is the last great looking Ferrari. After that they all looks like an alien spaceship
360. Spider. Gated. Timeless. All hail Magnus
355 all the way! The pop up headlights and the crest above the fenders just represent 80’s/90’s sports car. Ferrari really is synonymous with that time period imo.
hagerty makes good stuff, love it
Perfect design. You know which one I'm talking about.
What an enjoyable video. Magnus is easy to watch - his statements are fairly minimal, given the need to present he manages to find the balance between narrating, but not waffling on. My dream car is a 360M in TDF blue but the 355 is just beautiful. 😊
355 was the car I was obsessed with as a kid, but I’d choose the 360
best video for 355 and 360~ still worth to buy both cars?? how is it different with 430? which one is better? and why?
The maintenance 👨🔧 is so much on these older cars but so worth it 😂😂😂😂 this guy has so many Porsches a true collector
Serviceability of 360 is hugely better.. since the timing belt service can be done without removing the engine.
That's why you can still get the 355 for $150k or so! I see a few retired owners are learning to be mechanics because of the cost involved...
355 is the one in my opinion, it looks aggressive, 360 looks more "normal".
Magnus is the only automotive UA-camr to correctly pronounce “Modena.”
It’s the 360 for me
In the flesh I’ve never seen a better proportioned car than the 355, it’s so pretty and clean looking with just the right amount of flare and aggression.
355 all day. I'm a huge MR2 fan and the simplicity of the 355 IMO is just better. My dream car is a white Mk1 MR2 with a fully built 3vzfe all motor swap with rolled fenders, and wider tires...well maybe a small blower :)
I love how both Ferraris here are not in the typical RED. Great stuff!
I went to a sports car dealership and asked "which one is your worst car?" He answered the 355 by pointing to a yellow one. He said that those cars always have trouble, and that the 328 or 360 in comparison were much more reliable... His words, not mine.
360 is a dream car of mine. Specially in Tour de france blue. I will own it in a few years. Will come back to this comment when that happens!
Always loved the 360 Modena, the price for manual cars are going up quickly. For me it would be a Nart blue with black interior, manual.
Burn those rims on the 360 immediately, but 355 is the obvious pick, not even close
355 is everything I love about Ferrari. I'm a 512 fan myself so that front end is 😍
Awesome! Thanks for that! Chasing a 360 in the next couple of years so that was a great video to watch 💙
That silver 360 with the manual is perfection for me.
The 360 drop dead gorgeous.
I love my 355 spider. The 360 is functionally better but these things are primary adornments, and beauty wins every time.
that was the diner from the fast and the furious, wasn't it?
Even for Magnus this has to be a bucket list day, pair of NA Ferrari V8s with a manual and that scenery on those roads.
The 355 is the best looking timeless design and I love it when Ferraris are in other colors other than their signature red. That blue is absolutely beautiful.....🔥🔥🔥
Blue is now known as the new red.
How does the 360 manage to sound so monotone, almost 4-cylinder like when the 355 is a complex mechanical symphony? Was there a different firing order or header arrangement between the two.
Performance was prioritised above all else on the 360. The 5 valves per cylinder 355 was the best of both worlds.
Both the 355 and 360 have 5 valves per cyl. The 360 added a variable exhaust camshaft timing (phase variators) and different intake/exhaust designs which changed the exhaust sound. Even if they both ran the same brand exhaust system, the exhaust sound it distinctively different.
@@jerikosuratos apologies my bad, I thought they reverted to 4 valves with the higher displacement/redline.
@@davecom3 no worries, I’ll give you half credit for your first sentence :)
That's the question everyone should wake up to. I love them both, but the F360 a little bit more. If I could own one of the two it would be a red F360 Modena spider with the glass over the engine and black panel around the taillights. Possibly white interiors. It just screams OutRun.
Wait. Were you driving in 1st gear up until @1:30?
Great! I was just contemplating this decision myself.
I still love the 355 styling, so that is the one I go for.
They are both perfect - I would go for the F355 with a gated manual stick out of emotional attachment growing up in the 90s
Wow! Such a beautiful comparison! 2 of my 4 favorites Ferraris head to head. I love this kind of videos! Thanks Hagerty!!!!
This is The Same 355 That Paul Walker Raced In “The Fast & The Furious”! On The Same Road!❤️💪🏽
I do like the aesthetics of the 355, but when you weight all the improvements and ease of maintenance, 360 all day.
Both of these are my favorite ferrari models! So hard to choose between the two.
What's the retail on one of those?
More than you can afford pal.
Ferrari.
This series should be called, “cars that have already become unobtainium”
Magnus and Jason makes hagerty great
360! 👍🏻
I'm a Porsche guy; the 360 is the first modern Ferrari I ever considered.
I want to bankrupt myself for the 355.
You will be bankrupted, when you own one ;)
