I remember the Governor of West Virginia giving a speech to the 1988 undefeated team at a basketball game during the half they were honored and he said Boys you made us ten feet tall and we Love you for it> Coach Stew made us feel ten feet Tall. We love you and miss you Rest in Peace Coach Stew. 2nd Corinthians 5:8 We are confident, I say, and willing rather to be absent from the body, and to be present with the Lord.
I enjoyed and made the most out of my high school days (National Honor Society, Key Club, got into a Polytechnic school for Information Systems) but the thing I don't get is why the athletes I went to school with don't play anymore. Where is the motivation/school spirit/passion? I know they are used to feeling out of place, but it is just kind of weird that they play sports as a teen but stop doing it later (the guys who did wrestling aren't wrestling in their late 20's/30s). Not giving up is something athletes can learn.
