A brief introduction to the story of the last animation: It is in the reversed order, representing the process that after defeating Wukong, how you are getting his memory and become him. So basically a reborn. The headband is indeed a curse, but more than that. Wukong once was a legendary that fight against the heaven. During the fight, he also made a lot of great friends like Erlang. He has also been to hell to set himself free from death forever. (In the story of Journey to the West, the hell has a book that has everyone's name and length of life on it, Wukong erased the names of all his families. That's why Wukong has no hp in the first fight with Erlang since he is un-die-able.) Though he was so good at fighting, he was tricked and defeated by the Buddha, and put under the Wuzhi (Five Finger) Mountain as a prison for 500 years. No one could kill him and this is the best they could do by putting him in the prison. The Buddha then sent one of his student to become a human and make the journey to the West for the scripts of his words to spread his words to the Eastern world. In the middle of the journey, his student was asked to release Wukong and become his Master. To control and manipulate Wukong, they tricked him again and put him on the headband. Every time the Buddha, or his master say the curse, he will have to suffer from the huge pain from the headband. There is no way to remove it. Buddha promised him that the band would be removed after they finished the journey. After they finished the journey, Buhhda tricked him again by making the band invisible instead of removing it. Wukong realized it and all he wanted was just stay away and being left alone. But the Buddha and the Heaven needed to continue to control and manipulate him. So he set up a death show with his friend, Erlang. By killing himself, he could eventually get rid of that headband. The first animation at the beginning of the game, it was actually not the sunlight that was too bright, it was actually the Buhhda that was quietly watching and using the curse. When the player eventually collect all other five and challenge Wukong, Wukong will test you and see if you are the one that can take over his power and memory. (You have to fight Erlang first, otherwise you will be tricked again and being put on the headband after defeating Wukong.)

The part where ba jie sits on the chair and starts talking about yaoguai from a different land is actually a scene from the original journey to the west drama series where Bajie was first caught in mount Hua guo and wu kong was the monkey king in the land of monkeys. So bajie remembered what wu kong first said on that throne he was sitting on...
This was an amazing experience to not only watch you play, but to play it myself! If you didn’t know, the game was originally supposed to have 13 chapters. But due to limited amount of money they had, they couldn’t get it all out and released only 6 chapters. But now the rest will be released as dlc! And apparently it’ll be released during January, although I don’t know if that part is true.
The relic of mind was kept in the secret boss' eye, thus you get from it him to get the true ending. This also suggests the old monkey may be a bad guy. He sends "destined ones" one after another to collect relics of Wukong knowing the mind is gone. He likely works for the celestial court to revive a mindless Wukong.

If you didn’t beat Erlang, then that old monkey will put the headband on your head and that the one thing Wu Kong doesn’t want. Wu Kong always wants to be free, so you did the right thing. One last thing, if you didn’t get the truth ending, then there will be no short animation at the end.

There have been several anime series, tv drama series and movies made about "Journey to the West." This game made references to several of the popular ones. It was written in the 15th century, after all.

Thank you for this amazing series! It’s been heel of a journey! But everything has to come to an end. Wukong series will be missed! BUT! Guess what? There is a new Wukong+Sekiro like Chinese developer game coming! It’s called “Ballad of Antara”. I believe this game is based on regional tales of Tibet instead of mythology.
They have gameplay video on PlayStation official UA-cam page. Maybe you could do a reaction video so that gamers know this game exists! Game looks good imo! Hopefully they turn out just like Wukong!

no maps, no exploration, repetitive combat, poor performance on console, awful potions system, boring Boss animations, obscure cutscenes with meaningless and bland lines, game is hyped asf🤣 this game ain’t winning goty and doesn’t deserved to be nominated, 7/10 at best. The only good about this game is visual due to UE5.

No map - the game point is literally let you explore on your own, it's about the journey itself,get it ? It's literally a game about Journey to the West
