That Light in her eyes as her hope is rekindled by the embers of youth and their thirst for knowledge, is enough to make anyone smile no matter how cold they say they are.
@Alec cán As a cynical person, I can attest to this. Also I see you noticed her face and eyes light up when she realized those kids had a thirst for knowledge.
These days people in modern western entertainment industry try too hard to make Christmas sound like it's a bad thing because of BS like Twitter & wokeness.
Don't know about that. Since it was made for Netflix content which is American. Just like the old transformer animated series, they were drawn in Japan but still considered a cartoon not an anime because it was for an American audience first.
I didn't really understand how she went from hating Jesper to suddenly falling for him... not that I'm complaining about it, really. Everything in this movie is perfect
Wildonthewolf It’s hard to tell, but this movie takes place over the course of about a year. So Alva & Jesper had time to connect. Granted, we don’t see a lot of that connection. But Alva knew from listening to the kids that he was helping Klaus distribute toys, and she figured anyone who could inspire kids to put aside a centuries-old feud to help others & learn couldn’t be all bad.
@@drpinguino3 Mogens was quick to notice that both were growing a connection. Another hint was when Alva was receiving the children into the school, as Annalise gave her the apple she noticed Jesper passing by; and when he turned his head around to see her she quickly rushed every kid into the school preoccupied (while throwing the apple away). The scene when both are figuring out Margu's toy, you can already see both were growing on each other, as Alva wasn't exactly looking at Margu, but Jesper
This is one of the most magical yet heartbreaking scenes in the entire movie. The children's just, complete and total awe at seeing their own names in a way they'd never seen it before. Something so familiar, yet so new. Their names have been apart of them their whole lives, but they just learned to see themselves in a new way.
I think what makes it sweeter, it shows the audience how precious this simple knowledge is. We as the audience see it as common knowledge, since most of us grew up being taught how to write our names. But these kids' reaction shows how fortunate we all are.

Travis L Yeah I’m mostly referring to the Disney Renaissance and even a little before. Those films invoke a lot of feelings of nostalgia and timelessness, and the stories themselves are amazing. Klaus really just reminds me of a Disney Renaissance film. Has a great story + nostalgic + timelessness.
Alva looks like Jane of Tarzan. This movie is so underrated. Alva lost her passion because she thought her worth as a teacher is no longer needed but because of Jesper, she regained her confidence and even invested her savings for the children's future.

It's because she had lost her passion. For years she's been living in this town after having graduated college in hopes of becoming a teachers only to not have been able to actually do her job bc the parents don't send their kids to school. Thus she lost hope and is left to work by selling fish to leave for a better life. These kids showing up randomly are just an annoyance to her and she believes that they are getting in the way of her leaving. But when she realizes how eager they are to learn she starts to feel needed as a teacher and begins to want to help them learn, which was the point of her becoming a teacher in the first place
Her arc is one many people can relate to. Honestly, how many people go into college or the job market hoping to get into exactly what they want, and just do what they love? Only to realize that oftentimes this doesn't happen, and instead end up in jobs or places they hate or just don't feel any passion for?
