The creator of One Punch Man has said many times that Saitama isn’t unbeatable.
exactly and nate has the balls to say its wrong . Hes just a whiny anime fan
Even if we did assume his narrative is written to never lose a fight, Popeye could get out of the plot, go into the real world and force the animators and writers (you know, the dudes who CREATE the plot) to let the fight go a certain way.
And that's where Death Battle comes in to test that theory, and apparently Popeye is the clear winner, so how's that for a character being unbeatable which becomes beatable

That happened. And Popeye won.
And it was _Silver Age_ Superman, the guy who could juggle planets, blow out stars like candles, wipe out solar systems with a sneeze, and literally make up new powers on the fly.
Comics are weird, man.
That wasn't actually Popeye but a parody character of him named Captain Strong.
Which issue? I know the one he first appeared in they fought but he didn't beat him it just said it gave him strength like superman's. He got some hits in but that's all

Oof
@@chimpo961 Captain Strong is the name of the guy you're thinking.
@@Spyash2 yes, that's him I'm thinking
Regardless of the absurdity of Toon Force, Popeye survived ALL OF REALITY ITSELF BEING ERASED.
Put simply, if he can shrug that off, Saitama wouldn't really be able to hurt him.
Plus, Saitama is still human, and can't breathe in space, whereas Popeye can.
Also, there's nothing stopping Popeye from just, threatening the animators to make the fight go a certain way.
Lmao that would have been a neat gag like during the Green Mask vs Deadpool fight
Yup. The idea that Saitama can just one-shot ANYBODY regardless of what franchise they're from or how powerful they are is just ridiculous. No amount of punching super hard will help against a guy who survived literally the entire universe being erased around him as well as coming back from the void of non-existence. Sorry, Saitama fans, but he ain't invincible, and his gag definitely doesn't work on an even older and demonstrably stronger character who is _literally even more of a gag._
Popeye is what he is, and what he is happens to be One-Punch Man before Saitama was even a thought in ONE's head.
Ok. That last one made me laugh 😂
When I saw Popeye's feats I thought "This doesn't seem fair to Saitama"
Well, apparently he was able to breathe in space, as we saw.. If that was the case, he'll had boost down to the earth's grown, to gain air back.

Author ONE says Saitama has a limit.
Nate: "He didn't really have any limit in the anime."
my brain: -_-
@@michalvrabec454 They seem to lilitarlly ignore facts from the manga because they delieberatly skipped some of it that covered the Monster King because it will spoil what will come in the anime which I think is stupid.
Okay,that does it.
Clearly you guys don't pay attention.
They showed proof that Saitama is the strongest in HIS universe. It doesn't mean any other character from any other universe isn't strong enough to beat him. Not to mention showing proof that Saitama is NOT limitless.
And Nate you couldn't tell but the moment you said "BS" after the K.O I disliked.
Like wow,it's amazing how wrong you guys are on this one.
And BTW if you payed attention, they did measure Popeye's star feat which was stronger than Saitama's greatest punch.
I'm tired of seeing you guys complaining whenever the character you wanna see loses a DB.
How about enjoy the fight for what it is instead of complaining like children?
It's honestly to the point I'm considering unsubscribing from your channel.
P.S; Saitama's creator has said before that Saitama isn't unbeatable.
Exactly
I love the Renegades as much as their next fan, but their reaction to this was stupid. If they weren’t complaining, they’d have seen that both Saitama and ONE have stated that he currently has a measurable limit, since Saitama hasn’t had to actually exert himself in any fight, thus had no need to become stronger.
Popeye, on the other hand, is rubber hose animation and has toon force; this fight was over long before it began, but it was at least enjoyable. Not to mention his ability to literally deconstruct things with a single punch, and that’s before he eats spinach. Hell, if Popeye wanted to, he could force the animators to let him win, because he breaks the fourth wall almost as much as Deadpool does, if not more!
Out of all the reactions I’ve seen, these are the only two I’ve seen that complained when Saitama didn’t win.
Even jf you don't agree with the outcome, sitting there a pouting after watching a fight that had clearly so much effort put into it is just straight up disrespectful.
It ain't their faults that you had people, who wanted the thought of those two fightin'.. But knew he's a damn cartoon character who can't be beaten or fuckin' killed..
And then he goes out of his way to say, "hey they said Superman has infinite strength so why doesn't Saitama" and "Why doesn't Popeye just fight Superman then?" like what relation does Superman have in this, DB literally didn't namedrop Superman once in this episode. As a massive Superman fan it hurts seeing one of my favorite reaction channels shit on his character.
These guys were so salty with their reaction. Most Saitama fans were actually happy with the outcome.
Saitama technically won finally finding a worthy opponent.
He lost the battle, but won the war
I think they were already pissed because some jack off requested a reaction to a video THAT HAD SPOILERS IN IT.
Both of you I agree.
Oh hush bih
I wouldn't basically like to see my favorite characters in a silly death battle. As for Saitama also his character is the most prior thing to me.
You guys are being unreasonably salty... Like they gave a reasonable explanation for why Popeye would beat Saitama, hell could beat any character who doesn't utilize toon force. I feel like you're letting your love for the show OPM get in the way of what is for once one of the more reasonable Death Battles, instead of just enjoying the Death Battle animation for what it is as a cool finale.
Like, if you can come up with a way for Saitama to be able to defend themselves against an attack that could turn you into a pile of fish hooks, I want to hear it. I'm genuinely curious. Saitama doesn't really have any of the reality defying abilities that Popeye, or hell even Bugs Bunny and the Mask have. He only had his superhuman strength and durability, which while superhuman doesn't really possess a natural resistance against reality defying abilities.
Saitama: can destroy uranus 4x in a single punch because he does 100 pushups, situps, squats and a 10k run every day
Renegade: yeah that seems reasonable
Popeye: can destroy a star because he eats his spinach
Renegade: ABSOLUTELY ABSURD, BULLSHIT FEATS, DOESN'T MAKE SENSE
*cough cough* biased *cough*
Both are bullshit, but Popeye's is on a whole different level of bullshit. I'm more upset that they waste time making these "battles". If the outcome is guaranteed, the hypothetical fight is pointless and boring, unless the fight itself is a joke.
@@jokairou489 the outcome is guaranteed in every DEATH BATTLE. Name a DEATH BATTLE where there were 2 characters and one wouldn't beat the other 10x over based on one of their feats, whether it be strength, speed etc.
If what you are trying to say is that, these characters should have never been put against one another in the first place BECAUSE of their difference in strength, well, thats not fair to the DEATH BATTLE crew because they only find these feats of the characters strength and speed etc. while they are in the process of researching them. They probably didn't know who would win until they were already animating the fight, watching all the popeye cartoons, reading the whole one punch man manga etc. If you want to find out more about their episode making process, watch their Commentary video about Saitama VS Popeye so you can get an idea for how it was made.

i kind of agree with Nate tho... but let me explain: if ScrewAttack only gave victory to popeye because of this one reason "he's from a nonsensical cartoon universe", than I would disagree, but since ScrewAttack provided impressive feats for popeye than it's all good, and Nate is the one who is wrong...
@@motor4X4kombat bugs bunny vs toaa
Everyone in the death battle community agree on this verdict. This fight is also one of the biggest stomps in the entire series and no they didn’t say that Popeye can win just because he’s from a wacky cartoon, they actually used feats and they said that Saitamas POTENTIAL strength is limitless, but there’s nothing in his world that can even push him to those levels. And it doesn’t matter if Saitama strength is limitless, I’m pretty sure beating the shit out of your animator in the real world is infinitely above limitless power in a fictional world. Here I’ll prove it now, take one of your comic books out, preferably the one with the strongest character (like Superman, who apparently has limitless power) and fight it. Who’s going to win? You or the comic book? If it actually took you more than 2 seconds to think of an answer to that obvious question, then maybe go lie down for awhile, have a nice nap. Nate, I enjoy your content. I think you and your friends are great people at heart and are great reactors because you actually react but please don’t spout shit that you think is correct just because you disagree with an outcome, Death battle gave you clear evidence on why Popeye would win and yet you just ignored it and oh also really nice of you to basically say your fans are lazy and toxic when you referred them to having fat fingers mashing the dislike button. Also you guys aren’t versus debaters, you guys don’t know much shit about true versus debating, so stop acting like you know your stuff. I don’t see you doing the hours and maybe days worth of researching in order to properly come to the conclusion of a fight
Finally some one who gets it
Nicely said, my dude. You sir have my respect.
They pulled this same crap with reverse flash vs goku black. Reverse clearly won but because he is not an anime character he cant be a good character or something
@@dakaraipatterson2986 I also just don’t agree on Nate’s hot takes about Superman. Like I really think that Death Battle slightly ruined Superman’s reputation
I don't know, but the simply fact that he can survive the reality turned off because he ate spinach sounds a little.... *Absurd*, call me crazy but it's like that
To be fair, a lot of people, myself included before the battle, underestimated Popeye because he was a old-school cartoon, but that's also the reason WHY he won; he's an old-school cartoon. Anime characters like Saitama have limits, no matter how strong those characters are. Cartoons like Popeye, especially as old a cartoon as he is with no source material (to my knowledge), are basically gods because they can do fuck-all everything. I can understand being salty about the outcome, but the results are what they are and ya can't change that, no matter how stubborn you are
Yeah
You are 100% right.
Popeye is a cartoon that can break any law and create there own laws and break them
One punch man is an Anime which follows all "natural" laws of physics. Sometimes they can be pushed but never fully broken.
But to put it simply, not even saitama could beat popeye because of the stupid logic that is, the toon force!
Who would underestimate Popeye lol
@@sigmaofOz When TV in the late 90s and early 2000s would only show his feats of eating spinach to beat Bluto, minus his insane feats like punching God, bringing himself back from complete disintegration, etc.
Who're the idiots anyway who even wanted that fight...
(Apparently, people thought it's a good idea to say bout Popeye n' Saitama... Cause isn't obvious that a cartoon character like him can't be beaten, CAUSE he's a damn cartoon character, cartoon characters can't die, be beaten!)
They did measure what they could, the energy of the spinach Popeye eats and thus the boost he gets from it. Oh wait, Popeye's actually beaten a spinach eating boxer without his own spinach boost, meaning he has that star level power already and thus millions of times stronger than Saitama's most casual planet busting punch. And even as mentioned, even if Saitama could kill Popeye, Popeye can just revive himself with his spinach, becoming even stronger than Saitama, and he can decompose Saitama with any punch he wants. Not to mention you skipped out on Saitama's 8% speed of light feat from returning from the moon, which is beaten by Popeye's 500 times faster than light feat in hitting the sun.
So what
@@mrlazygenius2816 That they shouldn't have focused on Popeye's toon physics and recognize that Popeye has a feat to prove his superiority to most calculations for Saitama's strength level. Oh, and that they shouldn't have skipped over important information like Saitama's speed.

Clear bias makes them unable to see just how outmatched Saitama was. Popeye ignores full-scale reality collapse and complete disintegration. Saitama doesn’t have any additional powers beyond just being extremely super HUMAN.
Popeye is cartoon obviously
They did show the Moon feat and also Toon Force wouldn't apply to Ben 10 because Ben 10 himself doesn't use Toon Force. His show is more grounded in reality. Popeye isn't and that's why he's been shown doing ridiculous over the top things. Toon Force is essentially warping reality on a smaller scale to do impossible feats.
They obviously weren’t paying attention 🙄
Pretty much, yeah. Alien X is still a serious entity with little comedic factor behind it. Ben always has limits he must follow; no matter how much he masters the Omnitrix or how powerful his aliens become, there's always a hard max level he can't overtake due to the character-driven nature of his show that lets him be a relatable and complex person.
Being a funny cartoon character literally for the lols, though, Popeye could probably ignore the Chronosapien Time Bomb or even straight up punch its explosion away, and for no other reason than because _spinach makes him strong._ No rules, no definable limits, nada. This is why characters such as Mario, Ed, Edd n' Eddy, The Mask, Donald Duck and especially Bugs Bunny are so ridiculous to work with in versus debates, because the same rules that most overpowered characters are bound to in at least _some_ extent to give them depth (Green Lantern, Goku, Sonic the Hedgehog) are simply _ignored altogether_ by these gag guys. And, as hilariously strong as Saitama is, he just isn't one of these characters, at least nowhere near to the same extent as Elzie Segar's Sailor Man.

Sure...
Imagine having no perspective on analysis outside of your modern weeb timeline
Saitama's powers aren't HAX,
He doesn't manipulate the narrative to where he will always win, Saitama's only power really is his insane overwhelming strength at least in comparison to his own universe,
while Popeye has a full-fledged power set with stuff beyond his immense strength like shapeshifting, negating various forms of complete and total obliteration having a punch that turns people into sausages and even native related HAX in the form of fifth wall breaks like being able to take objects from the audience and throwing a brick at his own creator as he's being drawn,
despite saitama's immense strength he just didn't have anything that he could throw at Popeye to put him down for good in any feasible manner,
Also saitama suffers greatly from the whole "big fish in a small pond" sure saitama is incredibly powerful in his own universe and probably the strongest character in it but in the grand scale of fiction he really ain't that strong,
there are other characters like omniman and Homelander that suffer from similar problems, where because they're the strongest in their universe (or at least one of the strongest in some cases) people tend to get this conception that they're the strongest ever in all of fiction when really this isn't the case
And the grand scale of fiction and stories Saitama gets stomped by a ton of characters, like post crisis Superman who has a narrative powers and once beat up his own death, John Egbert from Homestuck who has retcon powers and can only die via a just and or heroic death, Elliot from Elliot goes to school who literally can't die and has some high end meta powers where he basically has control over a native, pops from regular show who is strong enough to destroy the entirety of The regular show existence multiple times over because he's in an infinite stalemate with his twin brother and I can probably keep going
Point is saitama despite being really strong especially in his own continuity is ultimately a lot weaker in the grand scale of things and had no real chance or way to put Popeye down

Sorry to say, I think this is one of the only times Death battle is objectively right. Saitama's whole schtick is that he's insanely strong, tough, and fast, but not only does Popeye have feats that trump all of those traits, his hax is ridiculous. He could negate Saitama's durability by just turning Saitama into inanimate objects, and surviving universal erasure makes Popeye so tough none of Saitama's punches, which at the very most would be solar system level, could realistically even hurt him. And even if you equalize their stats and still say Saitama one shots, Popeye can just say no to death by eating spinach, which he can also pull out of literally nowhere. So even if Saitama could put Popeye down, he had no reliable way to keep him down, and Saitama's own kit is far too limited and basic to keep up with Popeye's sheer versatility and hax. Personally, I love Saitama way more than Popeye, One Punch Man is one of my all time favorite series, but much like with Deadpool vs the Mask, the power of Toonforce is just absolute bs in a vs debate setting. Anyway, tangent aside, I still really liked your reaction, and it was fun seeing you laugh at the more hilarious moments in the episode. Have a good day and a merry Christmas
Nope
I would argue the actual ending of this fight is reality shatters, and Popeye shakes his head, grabs a can of paint, starts re-drawing reality into place, and tosses Saitama who was briefly unconscious but not dead a can. Saitama punches the can and a huge chunk of reality comes back into place from the explostion, and then he asks Popeye for another one. Popeye mumbles " Thisks is gettins to be ridkulous" and the scene ends.
Dude stop being salty it's better to just enjoy the actual fight
"Bullshit" = every anime fan cause 99.9% are bias.
The salt is heavy.
Characters don't win becus of popularity, though arguably Popeye is also popular.
Yeah, I love Saitama but he's doomed. Toonforce is broken
OPM fans, cheer up. Here's a little tune that may cheer you up:
He smacked around the baldy,
And Saitama fans are salty!
He's Popeye the Sailor Man!
*toot tooooot*
Actually most one punch man fans agreed popeye won fair and square
Dude if you cant find anything better to do than try starting an argument against a fan base cuz you really feel like arguing, you really need to get a life. And im pretty sure only like 1% of people are actually mad at the outcome. Popeye has survived things that very few characters can also claim. It was just obvious, cool fight, but very one sided.
@@angelandflare1097 Fair and square? This fight was a massive stomp. Saitama had zero chance of winning.
@@gamingtoast7974 Well technically Nate and nic are the ones who started it
It's fairly simple why Saitama lost, cause Popeye's got some mad toonforce hax. Dude could somehow survive being erased and turned into nothingness and still function and revive himself using spinach...somehow. Coupled with his ability to shrug of reality being removed, there's literally nothing that Saitama could've done to finish him off, while Popeye could've turned him into...say...a thousand eggs and that'd be the end of Saitama.
Hell, all the one punch man, and anime fans in general I've seen comments from all mostly agree that Popeye wins this fight due to the fact that he's not constrained by the limits of being "grounded" and "semi-realistic". He just is whatever he needs to be, and so has some mind-bending and reality breaking feats.
I get that he's called the One Punch Man, and that his joke is that he beats all his opponents in one punch. But that doesn't mean he has some innate cosmic ability to hit something once, regardless of force/effort, and make it die at a conceptual level. As stated by his own creator, he just has a really high ceiling for his power, above everyone else in his universe (which for some reason you guys seemed to have ignored). Unlike Popeye who is basically the epitome of "yeah, well fuck you I can turn myself into a sandwich now. Deal with it".
Why you think it was bullshit..
@@mrlazygenius2816 I uh...am not exactly sure what you're saying. Did you think I thought the outcome of the death battle was BS or if what Nate said was BS? Are you asking why for either or...can you specify what you mean? I'm a little confused...
@@jamestomato1744 Mmm.. Sure did have to make that a long comment tho.
@@mrlazygenius2816 what can I say I was driven to vent a little.

Toon force overwhelms the gag of never losing
There is no gag of never losing, that has never been a thing.
@@maxdrags3115 tell that to the fans of OPM, I never believe it either, but you here it so much
To talk about the "fat little fingers" of your viewers is *very* hypocritical
There’s always one reactor who refuses just because they like the character
“I don’t agree because I just don’t!”
“He took a big gamble but now he is scrambled by Popeye the sailor man.” (Toot Toot)
"I can already hear your fat little fingers hitting the dislike button"
Says the neckbeard that wanted the anime character to win XD.
Everyone else has already mentioned why this outcome makes sense and why you guys are being immature about this. There's something I'd like to add. Don't claim that DB didn't address certain feats and try to pass it off as fact after you skipped a whole bunch of footage. If you had actually bothered to just watch that huge chunk of content you skipped, you'd know that they did address all that stuff.
And the thing is, why do they care about spoilers in one punch man? Don’t they know that whatever drama or conflict that happens, Saitama will just pop in and win no matter what? Also they didn’t even need to skip because it was just explaining feats that Saitama did against the monster king, it didn’t reveal anything about who the monster king was or anything. Also if they don’t want to get spoiled, they should just buy the manga themselves to be completely caught up
Heres a fact: cartoons cant die
24:07
Well if you want the short answer, Popeye beats pretty much EVERY version of Superman considering Popeyes feats
If you want the long answer, toon force is one of the most broken powers a character can have because they don’t have to abide by the laws of physics and essentially can do literally anything they want. Most characters abide by rules of reality, even the strongest reality warping characters always abide by the limits of reality. With toon force characters, they don’t have to because that’s just how cartoons worked. Nothing was stopping popeye from punching saitama into eggs. All saitama can do is punch really hard, which popeye can easily recover from since he can just eat spinach even if he’s dead or erased. Saitama has no win conditions on most toon force users because of how broken toon force is as a power
Tl dr : toon force is brooooooooookeeeeeennnnnnnnnnnnnnnnnnn
@@default0502 They're cartoon characters.. Don't know how i could tell ya any different
They're cartoon characters
@@mrlazygenius2816 so saying their cartoon characters automatically mean they aren't fair game? Batman has like 6 cartoons is he fair game? What about mickey fucking mouse
@@default0502 Mickey Mouse also is broken because of toon force. Bugs bunny is one of the strongest characters because of toon force. Toon force is essentially reality warping to the extreme in attempts to be funny
im a big saitama fan, i wanted saitama to win but this wasnt bullshit, popeye takes the win, you should stop being salty its not about winning or losing, its about the fight and the fight was AWESOME
Death Battle literally made people salty with Popeye 😂
Popeye is essentially Superman and Deadpool combined. Broken power with fourth wall awareness.
