Bamboo Lanterns in Kurokawa, Kumamoto: A Warm Glow Over the Hot Spring Town 2024

In this video, we are excited to introduce the 'Yu Akari' event, held during winter in the charming and traditional hot spring town of Kurokawa Onsen, located in Kumamoto Prefecture.
Local community members handcraft bamboo lanterns that warmly light up the night-time streets of the hot spring town, creating a magical and enchanting atmosphere.
Kurokawa Onsen is also known as the birthplace of the 'Onsen-Hopping Pass' system, which has spread to hot spring areas nationwide. This unique system envisions the entire hot spring area as one large inn, with each individual inn acting as a room and the streets as corridors.
The video starts with daytime scenes of Kurokawa Onsen, transitioning to the evening where the bamboo lanterns illuminate the night. It offers a glimpse into the collaboration and strength of the hot spring community.
The 'Yu Akari' event is being held from December 23, 2023, to March 31, 2024.
