Not gonna happen, if you only play in C then my videos would be above your level. Try and learn your keys as it is the basic requirement to playing by ear
How did you do it? I am in the same journey and would be interested about your journey perhaps you have some resources you can direct me to. Am good on simple progressions on all keys, like 1-4-5-2-5-7-1 but when it gets complex like 6ths, 7ths, 13ths etc and progressions like 7-3-6-2-5 etc.....trouble nah
I love SEAN WILSON.because of his HUMBLENESS AND KINDNESS.. Am PRECIOUS from Uganda.and am trying to learn Gospel piano..and am always looking up to learn new stuff and his videos.have helped me alot.the humbleness is him talking time to read the comments on his videos and helping out his subscribers by making tutorials on videos they request of him that's so kind and yet he is a professional.many pros will ask fod money or just ignore the comments but he aint like them😊.MAY GOD BLESS AND ENLARGE YOU MR.SHAWN i will keep on praying for u.AMEN😓😙
You know Aaron Lindsey is one of my favorite pianists, but imagine my surprise coming to this video over 2 years later and seeing my own face at 0:16 seconds lol. Also, definitely played this in church YESTERDAY. lol
Wowing love your teaching style I wish I could do those moves. This is what I wanted to ear and how I find these chords . Very interesting .can u give me a linki up be bless
Class is in session everybody, better grab a pen, paper and your keyboard to add this to your vocabulary. Aaron Lindsey has such an interesting choice of chords, and I bet he holds back because he will lose us all (especially on Marvin Sapp's stuff, it's not right what he is doing there. 😂) Another great video doc, gonna be playing this over till I get it right.
Aaron Lindsey is a great mounstro jaja, you are so big too, great teacher Sean Wilson I have learned much about you, sorry for my english, Greetings from El Salvador
Okay, this one was very well taught. But I played all the keys in F, and I realised these are chords I've been playing every day. Only I never expected them to be used the way its used in this song. I've learnt a great deal from this one.
Good stuff as usual Sean! Love that part of the song because it feels like Aaron takes you to another part of the show that you didn’t know you were going too! Great breakdown on melodic move in A! Thanks for doing it. Keep them coming!
question for you are you practice the chords before or do you take the chords live. I say that because you do exactly what we hear. it's incredible.🔥🔥🔥🔥🔥🔥🎉
Thanks so much sir, you are that God sent guy God gave me to decipher musical codes, I love your breakdowns it really helped me a lot, now I don't just know chords but the applications also.
@@SeanWilsonPiano just curious, 👀 do you have a “live” schedule? Or do you know of any channels that go live with the Christian indie musicians community? Thanks 😊 🎵💜 Dawn
@@MikeAndDawnGineseMusic I go live, but its within my members of my website, so its not free, and for training purposes... I don't know of any other musician who goes live weekly at the moment for Indie musicians
Man Sran thank you so much for this bro. Aye everybody rock with my mans sean wilson piano website. The community is like that and he really makes complicated things simple
Man I remember hearing that part when I was 14. I played it over and over and over and over... until I got it lol. To be honest I learned most of my progressions from that album. Do “Lord of a breakthrough” next!! Always great watching your teachings. You remind me of my mentor John Blake Jr. the way you teach.
Yeah he was a great man. Had so much humility. He was well respected in the jazz community. He’s most known as a jazz violinist but he was a beast on the keys. Unfortunately, he passed a few years ago,
Im gonna need you to do a vid specifically on that choir singing unison = chord becomes free while keeping melody note concept. You did it on the "wonderful TO (usison) me" part of this vid. Thats a loaded concept right i wish youd expound on. Im always looking at where the song is going . Lets say its going to a 4. My mind automatically thinks passing chord of 1.. or 3 of the 1.. or tritone sub of the 1.. or 5. But all these make sense to me and have almost become dry. I want to know how to incorporate the roots that dont naturally make sense to me. If i had to be specific, id say #1, #2, #5, and b7 as passing or even sub chords. Most musicians know when they here something nasty, but grasping, disecting, and incorporating that concept is another thing altogether. The reason why im asking is bc i rarely get tired of playing songs. But i do get tired of playing the same arrangement of a song. Food without spice = something aint right.
I always loved getting to this part of the song when playing this in 2011. Great Aaron Lindsey! Chord progression is very similar to Musiq Soulchild “Love”. Great video bro! Love the substitutions for “my”
Wow God bless you Sean, I really do love the breakdown. I'm sure joining ur platform(website) would be much more better, coz my choice of gospel are majorly comtemporary style gospel.
Hello my name is Alejandro and I have been subscribed for what I think has been quite a bit and you have a very very good ear. I was wondering if you could do a video on the song don’t cry but elevation worships version. I have been trying to figure it out since it came out but I’ve kinda just given up over the past few weeks and was hoping that maybe you could walk through it and give it a shot.
Marvelous video👍 like your way of explaining and showing the chords and melodies... keep on the good work🙏 I had one thought about explaining the last ”A major scale” since the song is moving in a 2-5-1 progression in the end of the example, one can always use the ”1” scale (A major in this case) on this whole progression. Maybe this can contribute in some way. Be blessed brother😀
So Sean, what makes you think of playing the minor 9 off of the C# when the chord is an E? Are you thinking of putting a 6th and building the min 9th off of that? (since C# isn't in the E major chord?) Awesome sound, but not very intuitive to me.
Love the videos, My only one request is to also add in the key of C, and I know you probably hear this many times, but it helps even beginners visualise the shapes, and attempt to understand such intermediate and advanced breakdowns haha. although i AM COMPLETLY GRATEFUL for this breakdown no complaints. Great Lesson
Why not break down that it’s practically a 6-5-4(mj7 or 1 ) -2 dim why not mention that the cmaj 7 chord goes into the lockrian e scale, no hate but the best way I learnt was learning the modes
God bless you so much sir. Loving your videos. But could you please do more of your videos on Key C since it’s the most common. Thanks sir
Not gonna happen, if you only play in C then my videos would be above your level. Try and learn your keys as it is the basic requirement to playing by ear
Love you response not putting anyone in a box even if they want to 😅

Start playing learning from the hardest keys or learn from Bmajor chromatically, leave C alone for now 😂
The pianist as a R&B background for sure👌🏽

Aaron Lindsey a living legend. What he did on that Marvin Sapp “Thirsty” album is almost unmatched. Crazy. Sean did a great break down as usual.
Hey thank you so much for taking the time to show us. May God bless you abundantly.

Are they not using the CMaj9(13) because it is a tritone of the F# minor chord they ending on?
Can u do Jayden Arnold backing up Karen Clark

Is it applicable on lead guitar Sir. Kindly put the lead guitarist into consideration too in other lessons Sir. Thanks so much Sir. 🎉🎉🎉🎉
Please can I get the song?

Hi! I really need your help on a chord that’s confusing me. ‘Worship the king James fortune ‘ especially the beginning part plz help me out
So Sean, what makes you think of playing the minor 9 off of the C# when the chord is an E? Are you thinking of putting a 6th and building the min 9th off of that? (since C# isn't in the E major chord?) Awesome sound, but not very intuitive to me.
Can you please do these chords in C sharp
why did you play a perfect 5th on c sharp to ground the chord in the beginning?
That’s what a 5th interval does for me. “Grounds” the chord
No rules except what sounds right to your musical ear - within the genre of course otherwise could sound like free jazz or Schönberg!
Yes, exactly! Lol
I love you 😘
Sean we need you to check out the McDonald’s gospel your Chicago. It’ll be great to watch if you haven’t already but I need some help from 1:31:57 doc

I play the verse : 2x
Emaj7 D#7(#5#9) Bm7 - E6(9) AM7
E/B G#m7 C#7b9 F#m7 B7b9
the chorus 2x
F#m7/B ->
E A/E D#m7 G#7(b9)
C#m7 F#6(9) B9(13) EM7 AM7
I thought you said this aong was in the key E
That was Aaron Lindsey I guess
Assuming thats aaron "make em drool with these chords again" lindsay.
