BARRY HARRIS ONCE TALKED ABOUT FAMILY OF KEYS ITS FUNNY HOW IM ONLY ASORBING IT NOW AFTER A FEW YEARS.. HE STATED THE NOTES IN C DIMINISHED ARE ALL FAMILY OR LINKED WHICH WE CAN TRANSITION BETWEEN THE REST OF THEM , SAME APPLIES TO OTHER TWO DIMINISHED SCALES, THANKS SEAN, THEORY JUST DOESNT ABSORB OVERNIGHT, THANKS AGAIN SEAN✊🙌🙌🙌🙌🙌

Thank you Sean. I always loved this progression sound from Take 6. Never even thought to try to figure it out because it sounded so beyond my ability to sound out. Now, thanks to you, I can play it and its so lovely 😍 God bless you always.

I’ve seen it from Barry Harris also, all this keys share the same diminished, half a step bellow them, that’s actually why it works.

I’ve been watching this video over and over😭😭 and one thing I picked up is that when he’s doing the 2-5-1 progression as he changes keys, it can also be seen as a 7-3-6 progression in the original key (but the 6 would be a major chord because at the moment you’re thinking of 2-5-1) I hope that helps and hopefully if you guys see anything interesting to point out y’all drop it in the comment section too!✨

EXCELLENT VIDEO! To a guy that was labeled as "gifted" playing by "ear" and playing the piano & organ for my church the age of 11 - 18, growing up in the church, where I was doing some of this without able to describe it at the time...but I had developed an excellent "ear" from my practice in being in a professional boy's choir, from ages 9 -12. Now, as I'm getting back into playing as an adult, I will take advantage of your training, to help me get back into it again. Thank you so much.

17:03 is really interesting! I've been playing at a primarily "CCM" style church recently, the subject of 'emotion' vs 'theory and structure' comes up a lot. I keep telling them "you have to just feel it"

Minor third relationships, natural relationships... makes sense Sean. I guess I hadn't thought about that so in essence:
    • If you're in the key of C, the relationship is either Eb
    • If you're in the key of C#, the relationship is either E
    • If you're in the key of Eb, the relationship is either F#
So on and so forth... :) ...thus going out of the key/ or applying the "transitional."
Incredibly useful tip. Thank for for sharing this, I had to come back to this video and really hear your comments again. This video is Amazing folks, ...absolute FIRE!
