Performed this some years ago for my solo ensemble performance in hs but was only able to get around 95% speed… some of his altered segments are so much fun with the altissimo
There is a video on You Tube of the Marine Drum and Bugle Corps members doing exhibition PT - these are the guys and gals on the field marching and playing, just like DCI - except they can do double and single arm pull ups, rope climbing, multiple push ups, sit ups etc. (Ever tried to do a single arm pull up?) It was exhibition training but they are just the members of the Corps. I have no doubt they also have expert marksmanship badges too . . . . . .
LOL. you would not sound as good if you had his sax. Besides the ligature, the sax as the LEAST impact on your tone of all equipment. The most impactful is your tongue shape. The 2nd most, is the mouthpiece.. 3rd is the reed.
I wouldn't worry about that too much or feel too bad. The President's Own is arguably one of the very best wind ensembles in the entire country, if not THE best.
Sgt. Steven Longoria should study "Organic Real Jazz" - seriously, for at least two years. With his cerebral nimbleness and tactile facility, he will make both the European and American classical worlds very proud - of him. That's saxophonics of "summa-magna-laude" quality.
He makes his saxophone sing. I’ve never anyone like that; I’m truly amazed.
quite possibly the best technical alto saxophone solo I have ever heard
Time for my daily dose of "Holy crap, I still have a long ways to go in my playing".
Holy shit he played that so crisp and clean!
Give that man a raise.
Just absolute world-class playing. And playing it all from memory. Just utterly amazing~
I want his technique, tone, style, dexterity, saxophone!! I want it all
Vinicio Ordonez it's called practice if you want it all.
Bravo, as a former U S Army Bandsman, you will find some of the best musicians around. His performance was spectacular.
He was in the US Army Field Band and came over to the Marine Band!
Wow what a player! Respect 👍 hard to believe there are envious people that give 👎
Bravo! One of the finest young men I have ever known!!!!
How do I find this in the channel? I only saw this through my friends link. But when I explore the channel, I can't find this video..?
What uup dude
Awesome performance, that sax sound is beautiful, NICE!!
For a ten thousand dollar horn and thousands of hours of practice, that’s what you’ll get, lol.
God bless America
gentlemens, year 1940, amazing!!!
Fantastic!!!
this is excellent
Nomar Longoria is the saxophonist.

DAAAAANG.... I COULDN'T PLAY THAT AT A SNAILS PACE. LOL
Jamie Brown it's not that hard at a snails pace. The notes themselves aren't that hard, but it just goes really fast
Nomi! ❤
Well done that man !
Incredible...I don't know what else to say...
Ayeee he’s a Baylor grad! Sic ‘Em!
Love it
Holy shit
Man someday i will be in the president’s own marine band ❤️
Where’s the WOW button? Fantastic.
Holy Shit Balls!!! What phenomenal playing.
This is the result of practicing 40 hours a day
very nice!!!
Wow!
Plot Twist: That sax converts to an M-16

Are you kidding me? Who disliked this video?
Ignorant people who don't know any better. I'm proud to say that I was a member of this wonderful group.
Don Hennig Really?! That's amazing!
DanShamLands Really, 20 years.
Cool. What instrument did you play? I knew the bari sax player.
Don, were you there by chance when Terry Detwiler was in ? His brother, Dave is a friend and was in Pershing's Own Army Band.
Does anyone have the sheet music for the ballad?
Bravo..
This guy probably put to shame thousands of wanna be saxophonists. :)
タンギングの鬼だ....圧巻の一言......
What the heck that saxophonist is so good.
I am jealous, even though I don't play sax XD
Excellent technique! What Brand of Alto Saxophone is he playing. It looks like a Selmer???
wow, every note, every nuance, just spectacular. What sax is he playing? Like I would sound as good if I had his sax, lol!

Sheryl Rohr pretty sure it's a Selmer Alto Sax made in Paris, those things cost about 10 grand.
Sheryl Rohr Selmer Paris Super Action.
I figured Selmer. Wasn't sure if it was a Mark VI or not.
I wouldn't have guessed a super action though.

Is there any way to this sheet music? Thanks!
Hello Jacob.
Wow I don’t remember making this comment haha, hello Staff Sergeant
I am also interested in the sheet music😉👍🏻
I played this for a solo ensemble a few years ago in hs but there are 5-6 segments that he altered which you’d need to figure out on your own
Who is the transcription author? ,is there any way to this sheet music? I want for education thank you 🙏
OMG!!!!
It's a shame that I'm not even close to him when I play my instrument in band class

Amazing!
