As trombone player I never was a sax fan... but wow.. I've heard this marine play more than once and every time it has turned me into a sax fan.
SSgt Perry will MAKE you a saxophone fan.
Great job! Getting that double E is definitely a pain in the ass
Wow…just…wow. This is absolutely brilliant. Amazing technique, beautiful well balanced sound, perfect articulation, and sensitive musicianship. Well done, Rachel!!!! The Marine Band is lucky to have you on their team.
No wonder my band teacher said that the President’s Own was the best band on earth. Just wonderfully done. 👏👏👏👏👏
What a Musician! Great facility and tonal control of the saxophone. Thanks for the recording Marine Band.
Currently 3 weeks Into learning the piece. Using this as a guide- for obvious reasons. Thank you for the beautiful performance.
WOW! What a great saxophonist.. this is absolutely amazing.. I’m amazed to hear you .. you are Fantastic.. thank you for this great music .. Bravo! Love it

An exquisite work for saxophone. BRAVO, Great saxophonist
Every time this pops up on my YT feed, I watch it again. I’m still amazing at the sheer technique and musicianship. Well done!!!!
Absolutely stunning playing from the soloist
AGH! I've been waiting for more good recordings of this piece to come out.
way to go rachael; I've never heard such high notes on also sax!. good for you.
Phenomenal performance! Excellent tone and musicality from the soloist.
So beautiful! Looking forward to US Marine band in Prague at WASBE conference 2022. Greetings from the Prague Castle guard/Police band!
Bummed that I am just retired, and will miss this trip. I was in the trombone section in our last WASBE appearance in Lucerne, 2001. The Rienzi Overture we played there, in the original key, was my transcription, and eventually led to my being transferred to the arranging staff. :-)
@@LyleFrancisDelp how was being in the band? I’m currently in one of the marine corps fleet bands and I’m training to one day win an audition with the presidents own.
@@tyc4587 Best career anyone could ask for.
Thank you Marines!
Staff Sgt. Rachel Perry...Chops
Magnificent!!
Great saxophonist. 👏👏👏
I AM A CLARINET PROFESSOR AND I HAVE MADE INSTRUMENTATION FOR BAND MANY YEARS AGO! I LIVE IN ITALY, I COMPLETE WITH YOU ALL !!! 👏👏👏(SONO UN PROFESSORE DI CLARINETTO E HO FATTO STRUMENTAZIONE PER BANDA TANTI ANNI FA!VIVO IN ITALIA,MI COMPLIMENTO CON TUTTI VOI!!!👏👏👏).
It sounds… especially toward the climax very awkward as a band…
Good performance though!
Can’t blame the sax player. Playing a double is extremely difficult and gotta give her praise for trying her best
@@juicymango8400Jeez I haven’t touched band style music in a year so I kind of have a fresh set of eyes and ears. I think these guys might not have a lot of time to prepare for what they play. The soloist definitely seemed to struggle in the altissimo register. I used to love altissimo notes a year or two ago. I know how difficult it can be to keep those notes in tune. But I also know marines like to be perfect. Maybe they had a reason for playing this piece in particular or this was an off day for the soloist. I feel like this is very playable for the alto sax. I think it discounts the soloist to give praise here though for that part at least.
Apart from that though I very much enjoyed the rest of the performance the soloist definitely is a skillful player and did a great job on all those other technical parts.
