In the late 1970's I was the ordnance officer/ pilot for a Squadron of Attack helicopters. We had 10 helicopters armed with 7.62, mini guns. Each could fire 2 thousand rounds in about 2 minutes. Rounds were carried in connecting feed boxes. I was tasked with "exercising" the guns for each helicopter once each month. Ammo came from "expiring" supplies (stuff was made for Vietnam) . So, each month I shot about 20,000 rounds. Brass was left on the desert floor. Big fan of Ultimate Reloader. Now days I hand load. Proud owner of a customized scale, I hooked up to a camera and computer screen to get the powder weight "just Right."
You're killing me, man! I've always been so proud whenever I have a full 5 gallon bucket to start processing.
no, Large Rifle Primers are the new gold !
Facts!!!!!!
True!
Gavin, you are a rich man right now 😉😅 Brass is the new gold 👍
only to the price-gougers and profiteering puppet-masters
and their obedient puppet sheep....
Make sure you run a small base sizing die... they sell alot of machine gun brass
Looking forward to watching this project
That's a Lotta brass!!!
The only brass I've constantly broken decapping pins on is Perfecta 223. They have off center flash holes.
yes perfecta are very bad brass.. I've had good luck with mighty decapper and FW Arms
Post de-capping and primer pocket check/normalization, then perhaps looking into roll sizing, as that would seem to be nearly industrial brass processing in those quantities....
Great Report. Thank You. UR
Very excited for this series
I just did about 10k of each with my LnL. Im excited to see how this project works out.
This great Gavin. Been watching for several years now, since your hornady ap press videos. Life goal is to have a barrel of brass. Because why not?
This is a fun concept - looking forward to this
There goes all the primers and powder again
The best type of people have a little crazy
Looking forward to this.👍
ok, one more time :) you should use our case roller for this project.
Lots of brass. Wow.
Ultimate Reloader... Ultimate !! no kidding !
Man I work for FedEx frt, I wish it was me that delivered that purple promise to your house. Looking forward to seeing the series.
I help a friend with brass . 4 of us would do 1.4m rounds a month of 9mm 45 acp 308 and 223. Made a lot of money and got a lot of brass from him.
I’ve collected brass since i started i have buckets of the stuff. It’s expensive too just brass casings are expensive. I have a Hornady AP turret press and the rest
@@gunztommiegunz That's how it started with me a old RCBS and my friend teaching me how to.I have the stuff to load about 180k rounds id needed for my use.
@@robertwilliams2623 wow! Rock chucker makes good stuff! I love RCBS! I love the Lee dies for the value like 40-50$ for a 4 piece die kit. You guys shoot comp or do it for a side hustle? I don’t think i have that much lol but i made a great start! I got a MTM crate, the big ammo crate they have i filled it with brass, 9 223 308 mostly and everything else i found from .380 to 50AE and a few .30 cal cans filled
@@gunztommiegunz I do a little comp and a lot of ground hog hunting and shoot at my range
hope the primers and the powder can be obtained, good luck
I hope you have enough primers for all that and powder?
I once loaded 3000 5.56 and 2700 9mm for a friend who left for Army Ranger school. Most was military brass with crimped primers. Took over 6 months. All on a single stage RCBS Rock Chucker. He was getting married on his return and needed to clean up his home. 😊
on my Mk7 press I load 500 rounds while I brush my teeth in the morning. I also have the RCBS RC press and won't ever part with it.
Load em up & make a large shipment to me of both for testing!
mojo is awesome and if you're in vegas they allow free pickup but they don't have a storefront
When is the second installment to this series? I subbed but haven't seen a follow-up
Yes you messed up the shipping address. Should have come to my house. I’m sure it was a simple oversight. The billing address on the other hand was correct. 🤪
Hahaha
I'm guessing it's all mixed head stamped? That Is a lot of brass though. You planning on a brass giveaway :)?
Holy moly... can even imagine what that much brass cost. Damn
This is going to get good 😅
Looks like the 4 Winchester drums of loaded 5.56 ammo I won on gun broker for $50 bucks..... Only problem was going to Virginia to pick up
Lol. Seemed like a good idea at the time! We had an auction here that had kegs of powder. 120lb kegs of titegroup. Who knows how good it is and people paid full price for it. Or near enough. The sad part is up here in Canada it is hard to ship AND they made a "proposed law" that limits the amount of powder you can have at 50lbs. So doubly sucking.
4 drums for 50$???
@@someguy2741What law are you talking about that limits it to 50 pounds?
Take your cleaning method from Jerry Mickeluk. Cement mixer and an oven. Whole batch could be done in a day!
Yessss! I saw him do that. Retirement protect!! 😂
Your gonna hit alot of small flash hole cases to so be prepared for ruined primer pockets
The first thing i through of was how many decapping pins will you need?
They will be using FW Arms decappers, they will be good to go
I hope you are going to rollsize all that brass as a part of the process?
We are planning to!
Thats lot of brass
Just made me a subscriber
Love the diagonal Stada on your mountains! Excellent content.
Get some.
gonna trim the rifle brass?
This should be good. Before you opened it, I was thinking this was all military brass that had been policed & expecting it to be pretty nasty. When we would qualify, we'd have to police the brass & it didn't matter how muddy, sandy, old or whatever, they just wanted to get a certain % of it back.
Should buy military surplus brass. Would be almost all the same headstamp and a great deal.
You're only crazy if you got a defective lot!
Best of luck with them.
Hope u can get powder. Alliant selling to everyone else..
I would hate to deal with the 9mm unless they supply all of the 9mm that was shot. If it is range brass there will be some berdan stuff in there.
Gavin, I pray for you. I think you’re nuts!
I get it… really looking forward to seeing how this goes down…. I have a plan on how I would do this… years later… All the basic measuring, sorting, difficult primer pockets, case volume (223 vs 556) culling or resizing unsupported chamber brass…… I hope this won’t turn into the train wreck we can’t help watching…. You got this!
You found the pot of gold at the end of the rainbow.
So now you get weekly deliveries 🤣
Cement mixers and stainless steel, or turn those barrels into tumblers.
Be sure to take frequent breaks! 😅
I thought 5000 223 556 and 5, 000 9 mm was crazy. Wow!
Lets load up some powder puffs
What’s the line on how many depriming pins he breaks?
We shall see, they will be using FW Arms dies
@@FWARMS my guess is ZERO pins. FW is good stuff. how many cases will get proper flash holes installed would be a better question
Now there is a make work project! Just lubing that many 223 cases will be a pain in the a$$ .
Tots and pears
Automate, automate, automate…..
No you aren't crazy
OMG
Can I help fund this series? I will send you some money, in the end, you can send me some finished pieces for disposal.
You are insane
Must be nice when you can get what you want. Bet all the fed gold match primers will show up next, when average can't get shit ! Unfing Believable
45000+80000=125000... What and where are the missing 25000 cases?
We underestimated the 9mm :) Also, 150K is a very approximate guess until we get done with this!
And a completely full drum to very top isn't even 45k peices and that drum can easily hold another bucket... thats only 40k peices of 223
🤩👍‼️
🔥🤙🏻❤️🔥😘
I recently purchased 1,500 pieces of once fired brass, having hand tools, and a single, single stage press.
So far, THAT has been an educational experience having just under a year of handloading experience!!
First 👋
So beautiful lol
