    1. Small method: Use packaging tape from the dollar tree.
    - Take out bubbles with credit card
    2. Layer method: bigger projects.
    - Use packaging tape
    - Downside: bubbles and the stripe from layering the tape
    3. Self adhesive laminating pieces.
    - About 30 cents/sheet, kinda expensive
    - convenient
    4. DIY thermal laminating
    - buy laminating pouches for machine
    - use with iron and dish towels
    - drag iron over the surface
    - get corners super well
    - must check a bunch
    - 12 cents per sheet!!
    5. At-Home Laminators
    - bought an at home laminator
    - can find good quality one for $30/$40

I like that you are so thorough, yet you don't waste any time - you get right to the point. Some of the people with how-to-do-it videos go on and on about things that don't matter or don't need repeating 100 times and it takes several minutes just to get to the important part of their videos. You are really upbeat, cheerful-sounding and I love that you are a teacher (and mother!) because I figure you really know what you are talking about! Thanks!

I've been homeschooling & decided to start laminating some things. I started looking at the price of the self- laminating sheets which kind of felt a bit pricey😫. All of sudden, I'm looking at diy crate projects & then stubbled upon your video & I was blown at these tips. Thanks so much because I will be using the ironing tip. 😁

Two more dollar store methods are: rolls of either clear peel-off shelf paper (low-gloss) or clear peel-off book cover paper (high gloss in bright neon colors). Rolls vary in widths between 10" thru 18" and all rolls have peel-off backing preprinted with an all over half-inch grid and edged with ruler numbers and markings.

Great video! You can also use zip lock (or no name brands) bag instead of the laminating pouches. Just make sure to sandwich the bag in fabric so it does melt on your ironing board.

  • @livingdivanized

I love my laminator. I used the self adhesive laminating sheets for years thinking that I didn't laminate enough to make it worth buying a machine. Then one day I realized that if I had bought the machine at the beginning it would have already paid for itself. I got a machine by Scotch at WalMart and am so glad I have it. I live in the Seattle area (it tends to rainy here) and take the bus or walk everywhere. I now laminate the schedules for the bus routes I use the most so I don't have to carry the entire book around with me. Laminating them lets me pull out the schedule I need even when it's raining so hard that you think someone is just emptying buckets of water on you without the schedules getting ruined. I also print and laminate index cards with information for each day of a trip when I travel. Each card has the information for one day on it. I'll use my upcoming trip to Disney World as an example. The card for my first day / travel day has the date, my flight information, hotel information, scooter rental information & the operating hours for all four parks on it. The other days ha the date park hours for all four parks, what park I'm planning on going to that, any fastpass+'s I've made for that day as well as any dining reservations or special activities/events (christmas party, tour, Cirque du Soleil) that I'm doing.Being laminated means that these cards hold up to being pulled out of a bag, stuffed in to bag, rain, being dropped on the ground and being on the table at lunch when I spill my iced tea or water all over it and the table. They're also more convenient to refer to then the same information on my phone is because my phone is password protected. I've also laminated copies of my go to recipes and/or my most frequently used recipes that way If the butter spatters while being creamed or the molasses drips or oil spills and it gets on the card I can just take a damp and even soapy cloth and wipe the card down and the family fudge recipe is still readable.

Good ideas. I have used the packing tape trick for a long time. My best tip is to type up your list of prescriptions you take along with dosage amount and put on a credit card size card.. Then I "laminate" with the tape. I put this card with my insurance cards and always have that info available when filling out info at a doctor's office, etc.
I enjoy your videos. You always have great tips.

Jackie, this is an AWSOME idea, and since I've just had my second heart surgery I'm seeing new DR's, having to go to a lot of different types of DR'S and they all want to know not only that information, but what your allergic to, what surgeries' you've had, and a host of other information that people really needs to have on them unless they've been blessed and haven't ever had a operation, no allergies etc. and now I have to carry a card saying I have metal in my back and leg's, that I have stent's in my heart etc. and I wondered how I could protect them, so between you and MISS KTHERYN ( I know it's MRS. I just call everyone miss ) I know what to do and how to protect it ! THANKS LADIES ! HAVE A BLESED WEEK!

      That's a great idea!
It also would be so helpful if we were to get sick/injured and couldn't speak for ourselves. A helpful, rescuer would be able to find the info when looking for our ID in our wallet.
(Hopefully that doesn't happen and we're all safe n healthy :) but smart to be prepared!)
Also, when we go to the pharmacy to pick up meds, we can show the pharmacist to double check there are no contraindications or allergies to the new med, with our current meds.
      Thanks for your great tip!

You can get cold press laminating material in anything up to 6 feet wide! You usually have to have a roller press (electric or manual) to apply the material without wrinkles and bubble. Just look up "cold laminator" in UA-cam to see the sort of thing.

ONE HAPPY CAMPER ! XOXO TO YOU AND CARSON! LOVE, Denise

I laminate everything with "self-adhesive laminating paper", I actually couldn't find the name of this thing on the instructions in this "paper"; they come in rolls and in my country I buy them in yards. Depending on the finish I want the thing to be laminated to have, I use the matte or shiny one. I use the hack of the transparent adhesive tape too. (I do not know if I made myself clear. English is not my first language).

I have been following for about a year but I only stumbled upon on this video by accident. It was so sweet seeing little Carson at the end!!! You may not ever see this comment but do you have any advice on laminating a large wall calendar? It's one of the big ones you would use in a classroom. Thank you!

Kathryn, they also have laminating sheets at dollar tree. They are about the size of a regular photo, they work great.

Tape laminating is also useful for cables. For example, once we were using a few microphones for students at school. While connecting them to the equalizer, we needed to follow their ends, but I put numbers and laminated them onto both ends 😃 Anyway, thanks for ironing tip :))
