    nice video thankyou , after installing a new cylinder why would the shoe on the right keep slipping off towards the backplate and landing on the rubber grommet of cylinder ? even though everything is in place , any ideas thanks

    • @TEAMR4ULTV
      @TEAMR4ULTV  Рік тому

      On the cylinder there are little groves or cut outs to prevent that from happening just check if its facing the wrong way if so just spin it around

    Great video just subscribed. As a viewer some friendly advice, if you put your repair videos into playlists by manufacturer aka vauxhall, ford etc it will help your viewers to just binge your video, wanted to watch the vauxhall ones but too much scrolling to find where they are👍🏼👍🏼👍🏼

    So how did you adjust it. I know you slid the adjuster up until slack. But do they auto adjust when you press the brake pedal?

    • @TEAMR4ULTV
      @TEAMR4ULTV  Рік тому

      No you have to adjust them on the hub first. On one side of the shoe if you pull it either way you will see the adjuster go up or down then just adjust it accordingly.

  • @AG-vk9gq
    @AG-vk9gq 3 роки тому

    Great video but a couple of questions...do you need to replace the self locking hub nut with a new one ?...and is there a torque figure for tightening the nut?
    Thanks

    • @TEAMR4ULTV
      @TEAMR4ULTV  3 роки тому +1

      You don't need to Replace the nut. As for tightening the nut there is a torque setting around about 150nm but to be honest just do it tight as you can with a braker bar/strong arm

    • @AG-vk9gq

      @@TEAMR4ULTV ok thanks !

    • @jakubrydzynski2152
      @jakubrydzynski2152 3 роки тому +2

      150nm???!!! buddy, not so hard. the instruction provides for tightening 70nm and 40 degrees. of course you have to put on a new nut or give thread glue.

    • @thooney2934
      @thooney2934 Рік тому

      Mate stop giving out bad information.. axle nut should never be tightened to 70nm.. unless you want the whole thing to come off some day.. and yes you can use tue same nut as long as you tap a notch back in .

    • @jansoltisik8208
      @jansoltisik8208 Рік тому

      @@thooney2934 Sorry to disappoint you, this information is correct, torque 70Nm+40゚angular, it's generally recommended to renew all the self-locking nyloc style nuts, as there is no groove in the stub, nowhere to tap a notch. Simples.

      @@TEAMR4ULTV Just a question. I only have the small jack that is included with the car's tool kit. Is it going to be enough to secure the car for as long as it takes to replace the shoes? Or should i buy a hydraulic jack instead?

    • @TEAMR4ULTV
      @TEAMR4ULTV  Рік тому

      @@imrxnz2531 thanks for watching really appreciate it. To be honest them small Jack's are not that safe there ok for the odd tyre replacment on and off, but for you to Replace brake shoes not safe.

    My understanding is if you put the drum back on and press the foot brake the adjuster should drop and adjust that way ?

    • @TEAMR4ULTV
      @TEAMR4ULTV  10 місяців тому

      Thanks for watching really appreciate it. To be honest I never done it that way. Might work

    • @zaheersarwar7815
      @zaheersarwar7815 10 місяців тому

      @TEAMR4ULTV Yes, if you look at how the adjuster is designed to work. It's self adjusting as the wheel cylinders operate and brake wear takes place. The adjuster will drop with the tension applied from the spring and adjust the shoes. But the video was great. I would definitely recommend a dedust next time of the back plate and grease the high spots where the shoes contact that back plate . Other then that a good job done..

    Wow great video! Question, do we need to mess with the adjuster? In the video you knock it down to tighten and knock it up to slacken. Doesn’t it auto adjust after applying the brakes?

    • @TEAMR4ULTV

      R4UL TV thanks so much for explaining. You mentioned that the lever should move freely on the new shoes but I received my new Apex branded shoes and one side moves freely but the other side is slightly stiffer to move. Can I grease the lever bolt with something? If so what do you recommend, wd40 or a thicker grease? Thanks again!

    • @TEAMR4ULTV
      @TEAMR4ULTV  2 роки тому

      @@seemaab I wouldn't use grease or anything just pull the lever up for example if you have the shoe on your hand just try bending the lever towards you just a mil its should go free

      Am sorry but its very hard to explain via message

    • @seemaab
      @seemaab 2 роки тому

      R4UL TV The new lever on the brake shoe doesn’t get smoother, it has a jerky motion when I pull or push it. The new lever for the other side moves very smoothly. It’s as if the bolt is pressed too hard or doesn’t have enough grease from the manufacturer internally.

    Good video but honestly guys, take it to a garage. Not quick or easy to DIY. If you do try DIY, dont forget to grease contact points or brakes will squeek when driving. Also to fit the new springs, it's easier to pull using the old springs instead of a flat head screwdriver
