- After Eddie's passing, the studio is still in use and well maintained by Wolfgang Van Halen.
Some details never seen before, such as the room with vintage Studer analog rig for track recording.
I grew up in the house above 5150 and sometimes they would leave the doors open and just jam , definitely very lucky to grow up there. I would see Eddie driving around in his 356 red Porsche , then his Muira then his black Countach , I never met him but I sure wish i had.
That’s awesome. Lucky indeed. Thanks for sharing Cherish those memories
To badd you didn’t record the jams! Sometimes the best stuff!!
Wow, great slideshow!
That's so cool, man.My fiance lived with the van halen's and ironically enough dated edward and alex. She's got some cool stories. But she does not Like to talk about it and I don't know why Then helen what's my favorite band when I was growing up. My go to song main streets and right now
Yeah.........😂
Out of all the years the earth has been here, I was lucky enough to be born in the same era as EDWARD VAN HALEN!! Thank you God 🙏🙏
Having tons of video footage helps
Very definitely true, grateful and blessed that I can say the same thing, my friend 🙏
I was lucky to have met Eddie and Alex at the race track, Eddie was super nice and you could see the bond they both had for each other.
We all have to thank Wolfgang for being such a down to earth normal guy who’s kind enough to continue the legacy and give us all peaks back in time with these photos/videos/unheard recordings etc.
LOL, he hasn’t put out one unheard recording and he abuses people on twitter if they ask about it.
That would go against his father's wishes, good on him, I wouldn't do it either.
@@drewdean8643 he will do it when his solo career peters out, which, based on the success of his second solo album, will be probably after his third. Expect a turnaround and he’ll start playing VH songs and even doing a VH tribute tour. He will ride the gravy train like Dhani Harrison, Deeezil Zappa and a dozen other rockstar sons.
lol
Down to earth
😂
@@DODMannygravy train 😂
That’s the truth
What an Absolutely Amazing Tribute to the One and Only 5150 Studios..
Always and Forever will be the Greatest Band Of my Generation to me ...
As a die hard and lifelong Van Halen fan this was an absolute treat!! Did anyone else notice the red and white striped Ibanez Destroyer? That guitar is legendary!!
The " shark" guitar.
And the Rude
EVH guitars made a limited run of perfect replicas of it. It sounds otherworldly!
Thank you Wolfgang those memories will live on fantastic photos
Wow…just hits me in the gut! What a wonderful place! So so much history for this band. Thank you for posting this…I miss EVH, and AVH and…I miss em all!
Nothing is the same anymore. To be a fly on the wall in there at any point. What a gift that would be. Andrew Bennett…I’m truly jealous of your time spent there…and other’s like Chris Bruck. I can’t imagine the things that got heard in that studio! I feel emotional…but not in a joyful way and can’t help it. Maybe I’m just depressed stm…but man…I miss this band. The current drama is ridiculous, and love Wolf for following his own path. Love his playing and singing. Just tremendous!
I need a hug with wings! ❤❤❤😢
Thanks for sharing, this was absolutely fantastic!!
#RIPEVH 😢
I am still having trouble getting through these type of compilations when it comes to Eddie. ❤
Same
Wolfie keepin the dream alive
You'll never know how much you've enriched my soul by posting this. You can almost feel Eddie's presence there. Thank you for posting!
Long live the King 👑❤️
I was raised on these guys! My very FIRST song by van Halen,Jamie's crying. Wccc am 1290 and fm 107 in Hartford,CT. Way back when. 50+ years ago. We lived in great times lads!!
So I raise my glass...a toast to the G.O.A.T.
We sure did my kid has no clue how cool times were back then
Seeing WCCC mentioned is a blast from the past. I grew up in central CT and my radio dial was tuned to 106.9 from age 16 to 22 in the 80s and early 90s.
It has such an aura about it. Very special place.
If walls could talk. The magic that happened there Thank You
This is very moving for any fan of EVH but also from the POV of Wolf and Al. Family First!!! There is not a day that goes buy in my life where I don’t here Eddie. What a legacy!!!!🤘🤘🤘🤘
Just like you...I miss him so much. I can't tell how much Ed inspired me in *all* phases of life.
Being a drunk and a racist? Any teachings there?
just saw Wolf & the boys 5 days ago in PA. kicked ass....Intervals was awesome too!!
Thanks for making this I was thinking how cool the new footage of 5150 looked. There was some cool video when Matt Bruck was being interviewed and you could see Ed’s guitars hanging behind him.. That might be cool to add.. Again thanks ✌️🎸👑❤️🤍🖤
Thank you for posting this. That was FANTASTIC! In my opinion also one of the GREATEST Van Halen 🎉 ever…PERIOD! So many on that 5150 album actually…but that one quickly takes me back to 1986 and the best times of my life! What a time to be 18! Saw them in Washington DC on 8/8/86. $15 and to this day one of the best shows I have ever seen! It will be very interesting to see over the course of the next 5, 10, 20 years what will surface (if any) of all that sacred material inside 5150 studios!
This is great! Thanks for posting, hit me in the feels. A world without The Mighty Eddie Van Halen is rough. Rip Eddie!
Eddie passing is and was the hardest one to accept. I know many great Legends have passed, But for some reason this one really HITS Home. It feels like yesterday.😞
Awesome. Thanks for sharing.
This totally made my day!!!
In the behind the music they showed Wolfgang pulling the Frankenstein out of the case which was regular Kramer case lol. The guitar is worth millions and it's in a $100 case
Most guitars are in $100 cases.
Unless it's getting shipped, does it matter what case it's in?
@gtdcoder no but some of those other guitar are in those bigger flight cases
I remember reading in an old Guitar World magazine he was going to a photo shoot and just tossing guitars into the bed of his pickup truck. No cases either! I think the issue was around 1990? He was on the cover with a black background.
@1autumnleaves1 yes I have that magazine
That shot at 1:48 made me laugh, the rack of 5150 heads marked 5150, 5151, 5152 and 5153. I'm so happy that Wolf is keeping that place alive with music!
Thank you so much for sharing ❤️🤗
Seen all era concerts! Bought all the singles, imports and full length CDs. Learned all the guitar music on guitar! Thanks VH!
I shot baskets on the basketball court I was with my friend Skip Gillette (awesome drummer) who was friends with Eddie and he was visiting him there I was to shy to go meet Eddie (so stupid) there were 2 Lamborghini's in the driveway off to the side of this court -
If they opened this up for touring I would literally drive across country to see it.
If they did that you could probably never get in. lol. Plus they would have to remove me from the premise cause I would never want to leave.
@@b.snider6622 I'd probably get banned for breaking the "Do Not Touch" rule
This is amazing, thank you!
WOW I have actually seen the MA plate Zappa around here in MA
As far as I am concerned? This is a part of our American history…
We miss you Eddie! Cool studio.
Just fantastic
Wolfgang Vanhalen, please keep the studio alive brother.Your dad's legacy will always be on earth.
Awesome. So many great albums recorded there. Very nice. Glad to see Wolfgang carry on legacy. 🎸🤘R.I.P. Eddie
This one hit me too. Imagine the music on all of those reels of tape sitting on the shelves…..we miss you Eddie.
To be in there. A dream. EVH - Legend. RIP King. 🤘🏻🇺🇸🎸🔥
Watched an interview with Eddie in the studio. He said it was permitted as a “racquetball court”. Coolest “racquetball court” I’ve ever seen.
Really enjoyed this! Thank you!!!!!
Wow! Great photos! Neat to see some Rockmans in the rack.
Thanks so much for sharing this video. A forever grateful fan.
Aww I started out watching this with cold chills and ended up getting teary eyed. The best of the best miss these guys so much there will never be another van Halen love and miss you guys rip Eddie van Halen.😢❤.
Now we have another awesome band mammoth wvh hope to see him in concert sometime.❤❤❤❤

Interesting seeing a SRD Rockman rack unit in the cabinet. Awesome video !!!
Cool to see the section they added on for the tape machines.

Where the magic was created. I miss Eddie being here so much. His music was a part of my life from 1978 to this very day. It brings tears to my eyes.
Wolfie's father is looking down and smiling...
It’s hard to hold back Tears 😭. The Mighty Van Halen ❤️ RIP King Edward
Im so fortunate to have grown up as a teen in the 80s and this band always brings back some of the best times of my life when its playing ❤🤟❤... A legend gone but definitely never forgotten.. rip mr EDDIE VAN HALEN 🫶
Welp…this depressed the fuck out of me.
On the flip side…I literally just got home from driving slowly on my motorcycle with a brand new SA-126 tied to the back.
They’re absolutely wonderful guitars.
Thanks Eddie and Wolfie.
Thank you for the pix!!
Yes! @2:02 and 4:30 a ROCKMAN unit, designed, built & sold by Tom Scholz (SR&D) of Boston. Since the 80's I still have all 3 of my Rockman amps with that gorgeous distinct Boston sound : )
Yea I spotted those in the racks. I also noticed that big ass Bob Bradshaw switching board on the floor. Thing was giant!
Amazing some of these photos i've never seen yet !!!THANKS BRAZIL
5150 needs to be turned into a museum.
reminds me of a dream i had recording here with eddie producing it! best dream i will never forget!
oh the music on the walls that might not make it to our ears..so many tapes and not enough time to hear them. Miss his genius and his smile
Wolfgang is doing amazing things there still. Wolfie is such a talented guy in his own right. It's awesome to watch him grow as a musician. Hopefully one day, he will catalog on release all of those tapes from the 5150 Archives before they get damaged from time.
Wow! Thanks.
I like that basketball court paint job...very cool!
Thanks Wolf.I love those music man’s! What great photos.
Very strong connection in that place
Absolutely love the Studers
Awesome. I do hope one day that Wolf reconsiders and releases some of the Material his Dad and Uncle recorded from the past 40 years.
That was great, thank you!
It's almost as if he just stepped out for a minute and will be right back. Thank you so much for posting this.
Yeah it's hard to believe he's actually gone. But look at all that music stored in there! I wonder if it'll be released eventually like Jimi's music.
@@lolatu8255 I've wondered about that as well.
Thank you for sharing! Iconic
👏🏼 thanks
The pictures of 5150 in 2024 with Wolfie look like Eddie never even left.....everything is still the same. You are looking around like, "Where is Eddie at?"
To think what might be on those tapes stored at 5150. Doubt I'll live long enough to hear the VH gems hidden away there.
love the history. Thanks for sharing!
AWESOME!!!
😎🤟
It's still very difficult for me to watch this stuff and not get teary eyed and Nostalgic... At least now I know it isn't sadness.... I miss ya Ed... ❤
Saw your first stadium show with guns and roses Hersey park, fantastic
Awesome! Thanks!
Some of these are screen shots from Behind the Music.
Nice though.
Thanks!
RIP EVH🎸
Thank you Wolfgang.
What is cool. Is that it is ALL Wolf's. Well done Eddie..Well done
it is told sometimes deep at night, you hear familiar guitar playing from outside, but when you go in, no one's there and all is quiet
It's good to see Wolfgang using 5150. Why not? It's a killer studio/museum with a TON of history and magic. In the wind Ed is still alive!
So sad seeing all that, a lifetime to make and so much music came from it. Now with Ed gone its haunting to see all that over. I know his son will carry on but Ed was a special cat, RIP.
He's got Tom Scholz Rockman stuff
And it's probably the original .
At 5:34 you see the green bass drum on the right...that's a Gretsch...part of double bass kit that sat in Guitar center in Hollywood for awhile. Al got the kit...then cut the square hole in the side (to presumably stick a mic in). He tracked Poundcake with this kick.
The legendary 5150 studio
This has always been my favorite track from 5150. The frequency and the vibrations of this song has consistently struck an emotional resonance in me. Sounds stupid but combined with the awesome photos turned me into a blubbering idiot. Wolfgang has made his dad smile prouudly with his talent, maturity and professionalism. Thanks to all involved and Rock on!🤙
lot of the first pics on this reel taken from footage shot for & included in the Wolf Van Halen: Behind The Music, currently on Paramount Plus. The interviews were also shot inside 5150. I highly recommend you all watch it. There’s a free 7 day trial.
Awesome 👏 Thank you Van Halen Brasil.
Love you Wolf, sorry about your dad he was simply the best,Derek
Thanks the hole world is missing Edward ❤❤❤
Amazing!
The fkn gods of rock......... Wow my life's revolved around the VH legacy,......... nothing but love
Love Eddie ❤️🤗🇺🇸 so much great music 🎶 thank you 🙏 RIP miss you
Iconic studio Wolfy I hope you continue to use it and feel your father's spirit there while you do your thing and I'm loving your thing so far keep the great music coming. P.S. I hope you show up at some of Sammy Hagars shows this summer Best of both worlds.
Should be made a national historic site so it will remain forever.
Amazing guy he was along with the rest of the band members; Mike and Wolfgang, Dave and Sammy.
