If you want to know how old Fern is during the anime just subtract 11 from the years since Himmel’s death. In this episode Fern says that she is 16 years old and that is when it is 27 years since Himmel’s death. When Frieren met Fern at Heiter’s place it was 20 years after the death of Himmel so Fern was 9 at that time.

Notice how Qual's zoltraak was black outlined with white but Frieren's zoltraak was white outlined in black. It will get explained in a future episode but after rewatching the series, these small details are easy to miss and you see something new everytime you go back.

Beneath the soil under Qual there is water which, after Frieren killing the demon, is exposed and it reflects the sky. Himmel in German means sky, so the allusion is that he was right that Frieren will return to kill the demon. Visual story telling masterclass.

The two best new shows of the last few years are Frieren:BJE and The Apothecary Diaries. I recommend the latter be put on your list of shows to watch later on.

Money in this world is metal coins and Frieren has to lug it around while traveling. I don't know if there are banks in this world, but I doubt it, and would they still be around in a couple of centuries? I doubt Frieren has any money other than what she carries and that severely limits how rich she could be even if she cared about being rich.

She bought a whole ox skull. You could store around 350 Gold coins for the same weigh and it would take way less space too. 350 gold coin is enough for 25 years worth of supplies including snacks and other non essentials for two people considering how much they thought a few of them could last in Frieren. She's not rich because she's not interested in money or business, not because she has no space in her luggage xD
