I’ve bought several vehicles from CarMax over the years, none of which were financed through them. I did my homework, looked at prices and the Carfax report, and actually had two vehicles shipped from other states. Both one owner low mileage vehicles.
Every 4Runner I viewed at Carmax in Maryland was involved in an accident. They said they weren’t but you could see the difference in paint shades on different panels every time.
This is just crazy. So glad I am not in the market for a new car. Even happier I have finally paid off one of my cars and own the title. Who we have in the White House has a huge impact on all of this. I really hope people are paying attention and vote wisely or nothing will change and in fact things may get much worse.
Consumers have the power to stop this madness. Stop buying these overpriced vehicles. It would bring manufacturers and dealers to their knees in six months' time.
As a Carmax fan and employee 30 years ago I see a huge difference in quality. Crappy bodywork, dents, previous accident damage. They stand behind them but don't disclose work they did on site. The Maxcare warranty is great and I do plan on buying a vehicle from them when I retire. I don't want to be stuck with a vehicle I don't like and there I can exchange or return it. I will be covered bumper to bumper for 150k odometer miles. You just can't beat that.
On Hondas , Toyotas , Mazdas , over 100,000 miles you better ask for a recent proof that they had replaced water pump complete timing belt kit and serpentine belt because if they haven’t you’re looking at around another $2,000 dollars out of pocket or face the consequences of engine failure if you don’t know that major service is being done at the 100,000 miles like it supposed to 👍
The pro you shared has less than 10K miles a year being a 2019. When it was new it was close to 50k. Seems like a fair deal. In addition financing wise. They have big name lenders that they use. And CarMax has no control who those companies approve, there isn’t a finance person in that building. Carmax’s has a lender company they own, but that is only for folks with top tier credit. Do more research my friend.
UM, can we get back to the vehicle review content? Last 5 videos about the market/collapse/rates etc....we get it and miss the content that started this channel
Carmax and any other used car dealers are free to price their vehicles at any price point they choose. The market will weed out the contenders and the pretenders!
With a due respect, you're completely incorrect on CarMax. Their financing arm, and the vehicles they sale. A bit more research would tell you that. Also, 20% of loans arent being approved for folks even with GOOD credit ?! What part of "thin air" did you pull that from? I know ragebait and fear mongering gets you paid, but this is literal mis-information.
The $44K 2016 RAM 3500 Tradesman has been wrecked and badly repaired. A new Silverado 3500 crew cab long bed WT 4x4 diesel dually is $66K before discounts.
My thoughts are - I’ll probably never step on a CarMax lot. There are alternatives.

I used to paint at carmax 20 years ago. It's parking lot gypsy stuff they do. They tape everything up. Ie not removing door handles trim ect ect.

Yeah, i was listening to this like ummmmm...
Being able to approve loans may just get them more repo down the road. High price + high rates means high payments and high defaults later.

Watching CarMax go bankrupt sensational
I saw an auction earlier this week. Someone paid retail for 2 Honda civics and a 21 Lexus ES350. Not what you should see at an auction

Thanks for the information. Looks like a new vehicle is out of the question for a while.
MSRP is supposed to be $27k so $37k for used is crazy.
I enjoy the nod to The Grim Adventures of Billy & Mandy.
Great presentation, totally makes sense, thanks.
Appears carmax still fleecing their customers.
I’ve never looked at a car at carmax that wasn’t wrecked….i hate that place
Shout out Ford Focus!
7:24 why not just go buy a new one? cause new ones are near 70k dollars.
I love car max

Leave him alone, there is a reason this is called the internet. You can say anything you want and call it gospel.
