They're in the RR hall of Fame if that matters to anyone. Jeff switched to producing in the 80s. When he returned a few years ago, the response was great. So, highly rated.

Go back 40+ years. I lived in Sussex and had a really gorgeous girlfriend who lived in Bristol. Sadly, after a few months, we broke up. We were both young 19 something teenagers. But this song always reminds me of our time, mostly weekends, spent together. The line "... She came in from the west, a summer breeze, I couldn't rest...". I used to meet her at Gatwick coach station as she'd have arrived from the M4 to Crawley. And Bristol is West of Sussex. So the song fitted perfectly. The first time I met her in Bristol, I went by train. Even after we'd broken up, I'd play this song and cry my eyes out. C'est la vie Sandra C... I still wonder what she's doing now and trust she's happy? However, even after 40 years, I still think of her on a very regular basis. But when this song plays, that's me finished... :-))...

That would apply more to the mid-eighties onwards at the very soonest! (and that's being still a 9 yr old or so). All in all, yes, I learnt to appreciate ELO later in life, too (not that much later, though, about 14 when I enjoyed some compilation out there).

At 16 the of my life & I got in a fight and he stormed off. I honestly thought he was not coming back. I was heartbroken. He came the next day with this album and without saying a word, proceeded to play this song. I was flying high, I knew everything was alright. I’ll never forget. Listening transports me back every time. Beautiful song

I have a kinship with Jeff Lynne. My name is Lynn Jeffery. Seriously though. This album & his masterpieces got me through many days being grounded. My mom would make me do the ironing so I'd play this album over & over. It never felt like I was being punished! I win mom!!!!

@@t.d.knowles4944 I'm over 40... And, still not so far away from your positiion, as this came out when I was like 3 years old, so it was not music from "my time" by any means either . That would apply more to the mid-eighties onwards at the very soonest! (and that's being still a 9 yr old or so). All in all, yes, I learnt to appreciate ELO later in life, too (not that much later, though, about 14 when I enjoyed some compilation out there).
Me too, I'm 35 and found out about them about 6 years ago and just binged out on them. They are my favorite and the most underrated band ever.

At 16 the of my life & I got in a fight and he stormed off. I honestly thought he was not coming back. I was heartbroken. He came the next day with this album and without saying a word, proceeded to play this song. I was flying high, I knew everything was alright. I’ll never forget.
