Ive known this song for years and it always hit home. Saddly this is the first time hearimg it again after the loss of one of my best friends and brother from another mother. MSG Douglas Stephens was one hell of a soldier/tanker and a senior drill instructor in the Army. We lost him to his own demons on 12/22/2020. Its almost been 1 year. He left behind 3 children. #22 A Day

Were pretty big they still are one of the biggest bands on the planet. Just because chester is gone does not mean linkin park is no more. Chester can never be replaced but they can still go and make music and I hope they do
Chester's loss is a clarion call to all suffering from depression and mental illness. We've had so many that it's time we open our eyes and look around to those we know; suicide is a symptom, and unfortunately the last one. We need to do what we can before someone reaches the point where their mind tells them all options are gone.
@@trenae77 yeah I know 2 people personally who comment suicide one because of depression the other she was in to much pain suffering from cluster headaches she took her own life. Chester had everything a family a musical career that was amazing and the depression and negative thoughts won and the world lost a great person. Military veterans are committing suicide at a record number they don't seem to be getting the help they need from the V.A
I have seen reactions to this song, MANY TIMES....but as an ex serviceman that UNDERSTANDS the meaning of the song and video, makes your response, my favourite.

It's powerful, It's painful, It's honest.
Loved your reaction; whether people in our country agree with the government or not on where and when military should be deployed, we can never allow ourselves to lose hold of the fact that these are men and women with families and friends waiting at home and praying for their safe return. They have committed themselves to a cause they believe is right, and regardless of our opinion, we should respect their choice and honor their sacrifice. To all the Veterans in my family and those still fighting, and to all those watching - my prayers are always with you.

As a former Marine myself, done this before. Me and best friend/ comrade was deployed for a mission he got shot when he pushed me cause we we're under heavy fire. And i was the one who told his family. It was the hardest thing i have ever done😔
Did it alot for my comrades out of 18 of my closest members 12 died. 8 times i was the one who told their families.

@@TouchyReactions no sir it's alright because of that experience of my life. I finally found true friends, grew up in orphanage got adopted by a Filipino couple. Went to school became a military personnel. Met true friends who treated me like a brother. All good, an honor serving alongside such wonderful people like them. 😔👍🎖️❤️

Not sure if you noticed, but when the boy put on his father's hat, it showed him grown when he raised his head. He is also the man shown at the end at the little girl's house to tell her that her father or mother had just died. I missed that the first couple of times I watched the video.

I feel the message of the song was to keep me with you, but don't dwell on me, I am only a crack in the whole of the piece of the life you have to live.

Great song and a great reaction you have a new subscriber. If you want more emotional Linkin Park you won't go far wrong with "Numb and Lost in the Echo" the later being particularly poignant for those that have lost someone. If you want a real heartbreaking song "Monsters" by James Blunt is nearly impossible to listen to without a tissue.

Had to sift through my friends paperwork for his sister , MSGT Robert Webber JR Ret , Passed Dec 2 2022 .... still feels odd sitting in the home we all shared and him not coming home ....not watching his anime in his room blaring it because his hearing was bad from the scream of f16 engines . I have his F16 Airforce veteran hoodie , I dont wear it because I am afraid of being called stolen valor , wish I could get his stuff embroidered on it with RIP , I miss him a lot

For me, my family is from Mexico. And well, one of my grandfathers, the father of my dad, he passed away from when I was 9 years old. All of my grandparents, have passed away over the years. And well, my grandfather from my dad’s side of the family, he was a soldier in the military in Mexico, and I’m not sure if he did this. But I’m pretty sure that my grandfather, probably knew, a lot of Mexican soldiers, who died fighting to both protect and serve Mexico, and I think he knew a lot of soldiers, who always went to the house of a Mexican family, and if he knew somebody, who always had to break the sad news to the son or the daughter of a soldier who died, both fighting and serving Mexico. I know that’s how it is for American families. But I’m not sure if that’s how they do it in Mexico. And if they do, well, I can’t imagine how hard it must be for a family, to lose a loved one, who is fighting to serve his country, regardless, of where those people come from, either if it’s from the United States, or from Mexico, or even, from another country in the world, I would not want to be the little boy, or that man who told the little boy, about his father, ending up dead, both serving and fighting, for the United States military.

Thank you so much for your service and am terribly sorry for your loss, I can't say I know how it feels to lose a loved one that served this country I just lost a lot of loved ones to suicide.
Sheldon I'm so sorry for your loss. Losing someone you love to suicide is something I wouldn't wish on anyone. I know what you are going through and trust me, It does get better with time.
@@TouchyReactions I myself am battling mental illness and its difficult because I have no one to really express what I'm going through. Ive already attempted suicide before because I feel like my life is on a current loop like a scratched cd and I'm getting tired of fighting to try to look on the bright side. Honestly the only thing that's keeping me alive is my dog because I refuse to leave him alone and I'm scared for the day when his time comes that I'll lose all faith and really have nothing to live for. My own so called family is only making it worse for me. I'm just tired of losing people, I'd honestly trade places with them because they left behind so much more than what I have to lose.

As someone who hasn't gone through a lot of loss. Does it help to listen to music like this or evanescence or stuff like that? or is it self-harming?
I don't think I'm qualified to give that kind of advice. Everyone mourns differently. So, it may be helpful to some and harmful to others.
In my experiance it helped me to stay close to the person I lost. I avoided music like the plague 'cause I was scared my heart would break again, and the first time listening to al those songs I was sobbing until I thought my heart couldn't take it anymore. But over time my heart started to mend itself by listening to all those songs and realizing I wasn't alone. Now a year and a half later my heart still hurts and I still cry when I listen to this but with a smile on my face and with all those happy memories. So for me it really helped
