This is what Chester and Mike said about the song. Chester Bennington explained to MTV News: "When Mike was talking about the lyrics, at one point he had said, 'You know, it's kind of like finding yourself as this broken part of this big machine, and feeling like you're not part of that, or trying to find your place in the bigger scheme of things. So you were pretty much spot on! Thanks for the reaction. RIP Chester. Miss you.
Great song, gives me chills to this day. Off the top of my head, I'd recommend Lost in the Echo, Bleed it Out, Final Masquerade, or Burning in the Skies. But really, any more Linkin Park at all would be great. Keep it up!
My favourite! Although I'd usually say react to the offical video, but it's like a minute shorter than the full track, I think it loses a lot of power in that minute.
I always took the castle to be an unjust system that we're all a part of, and though we may feel like only a small, insignificant crack, a small crack can easily spread and shatter the whole castle. We just need to give it a few knocks. Be the change we want to see in the world. I have no idea what the actual intention was behind it, but to me it's a reassuring and motivational message.
Excellent song! When watching various UA-camr's reactions to the sond, I think the story line gets a bit muddled - and it's natural, not many are knowledgeable about the armed forces. Simply put, the young boy becomes what his father was. The opening scene, the man in uniform is Navy SEAL. The game scenes show some of the capabilities of the unit - the guys visiting are probably actual operators. The medal the boy holds is the Silver Star and the battered ball cap has the "bone frog" that's associated with the SEAL community - going back to it's roots ... "frogmen." When the boy places the hat on his head, IMO, that's when the decision is made - to be like his dad. And at the end, there he is, the bearer of tragic news, given to another child. The song means to me that in the grand scheme of things, the castle, our impact, the crack, is almost insignificant.
I felt like this was about the military family and the commitment to country and each other. The castle being the military and the crack being those impacted by the loss. Glass being clear so you can see and you know what can happen. There are lots of crack's but the video show's the support of other soldiers and families. The line that stood out is when you see him put the hat on and the words are..."Hardly anything else I need to be". Even though he was a crack he went back in to protect and repair the castle. Sorry I went so long. Much respect to our military 🙏 Recently came across "Five Finger Death Punch"! (Your fault!) Two songs ...Wrong side of Heaven and Coming Down! Heavy and worth the watch.
Also, another heartbreaking song is Adios written by Glen Campbell for his family and fans in response to his diagnosis with Alzheimer's. He has since passed. It is truly a beautiful song.
Maybe this castle of glass is humanity as whole, great and monumental, and when one of us pass away in one way or another it's just a small crack, but a whole bunch of cracks will break that castle and it will fall down. In the meaning of the music video I get that like we destroying ourselves fighting meaningless wars, hutring humanity and it will be on us, when it will be ruined.
Little known fact: only special forces members in the same chain of command can report MIA/KIA of a special forces member, and they can only do that when the unit is outside of the combat area
My favourite from Living Things. :) Also, The Catalyst is my recommendation. Just a heads-up though. The official video is about a minute shorter than the full track is meant to be, personally I think it loses a chunk of power in that minute. Ultimately it's your choice, whether you were to do the official video or a lyric video at about a minute longer, but thought I'd give you a heads up about it. :)
I feel castle of glass is the beautiful yet fragile societal structure we have, and loss to self is just a small crack in that. Also it might infer how predictably expendable one self is.
Iridescent, shadow of the day, leave out all the rest. They are a loytle more mellow in sound but have deep meaning. Also if you do one on valentine's day they have a song called valentine's day
That Winston Churchill quote at the end is so ironic and hypocritical! He was single-handedly responsible for denying freedom, justice, mercy & hope to millions of people here in India and around the world.
Announcement just came out that NF is going to be a father!! I suggest a celebratory congrats reaction? I think the perfect song would be REMEMBER THIS. It's a wise life lessons song without being about him. Just wise words you'd want to tell your child. It'd be perfect.
Qwerty live from Summer Sonic Tokio 2006 PLEASE This one doesn't have a music video, and live version sounds way better than the studio one, it's heavier and shows Chester's vocal abilities, hope you'll check this out :D just be prepared for heavy stuff and lot of screaming 😅
Normally a notification officer and a chaplain make up the team that notifies the family of a death but in this case the kids' father was a Navy Seal and I was told that they do things a little differently and its usually a fellow team member that notifies the family. From what I was told Navy Seal teams are very close-knit team to the point to where their families end up becoming very close with each other. Thats who the other men were in this video that were with the mother in the beginning and who comforted the kid when he was on his laptop. So, in this video the child grew up to follow his father's footsteps and became a Navy Seal and apparently, he lost one of his team members and had to notify their family of their loss. Again, this is what I was told by someone who is in the military so I may be wrong. I was never in the military myself and the person who told me this information was not a Navy Seal himself but said he knew people who were.

Beautiful story, and very sad as well. Pretty much tells how sometimes our lives can fall apart even if you don't know how to deal with this staff!
😳 omg
The beginning always gets to me. Almost cried just now…
We’re nothing but a speck of dust in a world of so many.

check out "The Catalyst" a very experimental song with a deep meaning.
My favourite! Although I'd usually say react to the offical video, but it's like a minute shorter than the full track, I think it loses a lot of power in that minute.
I dont think u need to say "deep meaning" on LP songs. They dont do this superficial crap you see today.

I'm crying? Fuck this song is so fucking amazing
A person is a castle, but we are also fragile like class, a single crack unseen gould grow and destroy you.
My favourite from Living Things. :)
