Damn! They play the song a little slower than usual, which gives it the weight it deserves, but it still floats because the band members listen to each other so well and balance out. And Cody gives the right mixture of irony and sadness. This one's a keeper for sure.
Just fell down a rabbit hole on U tube called Cody Jinks. I was thinking of the good old days when Nashville was small and the artists who went there were big, Merle, George, Waylon, Loretta, Hank Nashville didn't make them famous, Nashville needed their honesty, their talent and their style. Now Nashville is a large conglomerate that would rather package mediocre talent in a slick package and call it a star than to recognize the real stars like Cody Jinks, Slaid Cleaves and the dozens of other "tell it like it is and sing it from the heart" musicians. It's good to know that real western music isn't dead, it just never left the Nation of Texas!
Seen him open for Jamey Johnson June 17 in my home town Durant ok.... lets just say crowd was chanting for Cody even when Jamey was on stage. Jamey Johnson is the man and he played with a huge band, multiple drummers horn section etc, but Cody is such the real deal that I don't think its wise to have him as your opener. Jamey did call Cody on stage and the whole place was chanting Cody Cody Cody! it gave you chill bumps was flippin awesome! You go Denton/Ft worth boy! I guarantee ill see more shows. Thank you Mr. Jinks
this was my brother's favorite song and I'm sure if he were alive to hear you do this song such justice he'd be over the moon. i love this song too even if it makes me shed a tear because it makes me think of him. a lot of your songs have that kind of conviction to move someone emotionally
Cody opening for Lynard Skynyrd last farewell . Cody what a honor Alpratta GA and Alabama Get Ready to Salute 50 years of Southern Rock and Cody Jinks is icing on the Mega show! Get your tickets biggest show of the year!!!
I agree one of the best songs ever. ..don't usually like covers done on a song that is this untouchable. ...but I have to say Cody Jinks and his rebel soul....did it justice. ...
This is also one of my all time favorite songs. ... Amazing cover. ... I really want Cody Jinks and Jamey Johnson to record an album of legendary country songs...they can call it Covering Country. ... I've already got a list for them.... they may have to record like 10 albums lol
I’m proud to be from Mexican descent Where lots of brave men lost in history Where cowboys come from He is singing of pancho Villa a very brave men and very great horsemanship
Hands down best singer around! I just hate that he's been around for awhile and I didn't hear him played till I'm not the devil came out. I went on his website and ordered all his album's. I can sit and listen and watch him all day long. He's coming to Pittsburgh on a small stage in June can't wait!!!
now thats how you play music. beer on top of the amp and a cigarette dangling from the yap. much better than most of the crap that sucks up the radio waves today.
This is my favorite song I never get tired of it tho original video makes me think that it would be e great way to spend my retired days just riding through the desert... Lol 😆😆😆
I love all your songs I love your band the steel guitar player he's awesome I love your sound I think gosh really can't think of a favorite but I love the song David I love the song Gray anyway hey y'all are just great y'all are wonderful I can't say nothing about you from a truck driver I've heard some of your music on a radio station in Southwestern New Mexico

I offered. This is my personal recording, done with Cody's permission. You might check out my playlists, there are almost a dozen complete show of his there...8)
This and Townes' version are the best. Sorry - Willie, Merle, Emmylou, and all other greats that respected Mr Van Zandt so much that you sang his song... Why the confusion of Pancho/Poncho? Francisco/Alfonso? Other than that... the lyrics are so profound/heartfelt - that prejudices and preconcieved opinions melt. Epic. Moving. A movie of words.
Damn a steel player that doesn't over power the rest of the band. I love it. Perfect...
Thank the sound man great mixing (good talent to start with doesn't hurt)
One of the best songs ever written. Period.
Damn! They play the song a little slower than usual, which gives it the weight it deserves, but it still floats because the band members listen to each other so well and balance out. And Cody gives the right mixture of irony and sadness. This one's a keeper for sure.
I love this version, but they all look like they're wondering "who's keeping time? You? You? Not me. You?"😂
This band done a hell of a job, i liked it whole lot. My wife love's the music 🙏🎸😎
Merle, would be proud of this man way he sings this song! It my favorite song too! Shawn
