Merle and Willie did a great job and made it sort of a cult classic of sorts.. the video cemented it for future generations ( at least I hope ) these guys made it their own as well... These two have awesome country voices. I hear them every week on the Pressley's on the RFD Channel! Jay Wickizer has awesome range in his voice and does George Strait songs very well!

I can barely carry a tune but I love to do this on my own and recently with a friend.. We each take turns on every verse instead of breaking it up half and half and together on the chorus.. These guys are so damn tight....they are playin' the tempo a little subdued which, I suppose is a nod to the audience, who look like members of the 1960 dairy cow association of America. Yeah, retirees. They are getting one hell of a performance by some ace musicians. I am very impressed.
These guys are very, very good, maybe a tad too perfect. My boys, Willie/ Merle gives you raw outlaw feelin', dust, sweat, knives, guns, leather, hooves poundin' action. My only hope is that Townes could have found Jesus. Not all of our heroes wind up in heaven.
Richard, Willie & Merle's is also my favorite version .... but I'm really thinking that this is on par with it. It starts off so good, and then when the 2nd vocalist comes on w/ his beautiful deep voice, Wow ...Just Incredible!! The band & backing singers were all spot on as well. I only have one complaint - it ended too soon!! I might play w/ it to see if I can mix an extended version of this one!
